I'm taking trip to Atlantic City this weekend (I'm the only guy going) and a few people have commented on how bad the crime is there; i was wondering if anyone who lives around there or travelled there recently can comment on how bad it actually is? Are there any areas around the boardwalk we should avoid? The hotel we're staying at is on Pacific/St James Pl if that helps.
Feel free to make any recommendations on anything you think is a must see/must do while you're there. Casinos are a given.
Anyway...stay on the boardwalk, on the main roads, or in the casinos. Do not venture into the spots where the people who actually live in AC, live, but if you do as the first sentence suggests you will be fine.
My last time there I was in the Borgata. Very, very nice. Not as busy or loud as the places on the boardwalk, but nice.

But yeah, the places to avoid will be pretty obvious. It's basically the bit in the middle of everything.
