Ok, so I'm not even sure if I'm allowed to ask this here, but I will anyway.
Here's the deal: I smoked weed in my friend's dorm room last night (yes, I know, careless and stupid), and an RA (happens to be my RA) happened to be taking rounds, and he knocked on the door. I opened it, and it turns out that my friend had left his keys in the door. However, when I opened the door, the RA must have smelled the smoke, so he waited outside until my friend opened the door back up to see what the problem was. He said he smelled weed, and then he told us that he was going to report us to his supervisor. I slept in my friend's room because I was freaking out and another friend called me and told me my RA was on my floor outside the bathrooms (definitely wanted to avoid confrontation). There were cops walking around my friend's hallway, but they never came to his door, which makes me think that maybe my RA gave me a break and told them it smelled like weed on the hall. Anyway, I'm still pretty freaked out, seeing as I've never been caught before. What should I do when I inevitably run into my RA again? How should I talk to him?
Oh well, I'm pretty scared, and I hope I don't have to have an interview with my RA's supervisor or a cop.
Thank you, Piratejon, that is actually very reassuring. I guess it's not really that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things.
If he documented you, you'll have to meet with the Hall Director or Hall Supervisor. The police don't need to be there or arrest you for you to go through the housing conduct system. Additionally, they don't need any evidence other then the RA's word to hold you accountable.
That being said, the RA was just doing their job. Treat them normally, apologize to the RA if you feel the need. But don't go holding a grudge because you fucked up.

Oh, trust me, I'm not holding a grudge...I know fully well that I made a stupid mistake. I just hope I don't get arrested...all the stuff (weed, bong, etc.) is moved out, so that might make some difference.

Do you? Because it kinda sounds like you don't understand the impact that could have on other people. Not to mention yourself. I got nothing against smoking pot, but you just need to understand at this time it's illegal. Don't gripe when you get busted for doing something the law says you're not supposed to do.
Dude, don't sweat it. Cops came and left, no big deal. They have to catch you with weed, or else its nothing. Theyre lying if they say anything else.
As to the RA just dont make a big deal out of it and dont get caught again.
Wrong. They may not be able to do anything through the legal system, but the housing system can do whatever they want to: including revoking your housing, putting you on probation, and hurting your academic standing.
Chances are they won't, but don't listen to this guy who says they can't... because they most definately can.
