Well, in non-arena news, who here is planning on hitting up Dustwallow Marsh with their alt?

Because at least for a week, I am not even going to touch that place.

It so totally screeems ripe Dickbag 70 PvP rape.

STV is going to be virtually barren and peaceful I might actually enjoy it for a bit.

It'll be the 300 level 35 dickbags killing all your quest mobs that'll be the problem.

With the new patch coming out, does that mean ZA will be open on 11/13 as well? Should be nice to check that out... i'm sure Zul'jin will be downed by 11/14 at the latest.

Well, I had been planning to hit it with my two level-appropriate RP-server alts... but finishing the Ogri'la prequests today means I'll be playing my main more than expected for a little while

Yeah, it'll open with the patch. And barring crippling bugs (which of course are possible, lol PTR testing) Zul'jin will be down in a few hours. :| People in BT gear can plow through that place and all the bosses have been killed on the PTR so the strats are out there too.

I need to get in an arena team. I'm in a team now that consists of rogue(me)/holy palli/feral druid. From what I've been told, that's a strong team. But I wouldn't know, because they're never on! Damnit. I just want to get the daggers. :(

Regarding the arenas: it may become far harder to get a higher rating, depending on how each Battlegroup's community reacts.

If people see S3 as a way to easy raid gear (and lets face it, S3 even after focusing on stamina and resilience, will at least appeal to DPS in greens/blues/perhaps even T4. I know it's got me running numbers, and I'm in full T4 and equivelent or better gear. Thus, the influx of people at the low end should at least initially let the teams with higher potential push quickly, since there'll be more teams queued up, and thus, more games being played and hopefully faster queues.

However, it could backfire horribly. The weapons are the biggest draw for several classes (DPS warriors, rogues, hunters, feral druids usually oooh and ahhh over their mace, etc). We'll also have people immediately dropping nearly 4k picking up a pair of S3 which will be a significant advantage over said new players in blues/greens/etc. The honour bought S1 gives them a great way to speedily catch up, but only to a certain degree. While I still expect skill to make up some difference, class/team balance will remain an issue (further complicated by class ability changes the week before S3 starts), and it's hard to argue that a couple hundred or even thousand hp, plus higher mitigation and better dps won't give those teams already in S2 and partial S3 an advantage.

So, the backfire could occur if a lot of those newer players get frustrated and give up. With fewer teams in the system, there'll be fewer lower teams to prey upon (no, a 2100 team won't be facing 1600's, but the 2k teams they do face will be facing 1900, who prey on 1800, etc, etc), which means more of the higher teams will be facing each other. Given that there are so few ties that they can be all but ignored, one of those teams is going to lose rating, and thus, I imagine the fight for the 1850/2000 ranges will be particularly vicious in time.

As for me, I'm looking forward to powering my 41 Shaman up with the questing/exp per level changes. My pet goal is to see if I can get her to 70 before the end of the year, which I suspect will be quite doable, especially with the influx of interest in alts due to said patch. Once I'm in the high 50's and have access to Outlands greens and Hellfire Peninsula, it should be cake to instance up the last 12 or so levels, even if I have to spec Resto to justify a lower level spot in the groups.

    PS: Chain Heal is hax.

If my team (at around 1550 or so at the time) beat another team and got 25 points from it, is there a way to calculate the arena rating of the other team? This happened to us last night and I forgot to write down the name to look them up.

I'm not sure, but since the formulae is out there, it shouldn't be too hard to plug in the numbers you have and figure it out.

That said, I don't think I've ever gotten more than 19 or 21 points for a win, so they'd have to have been significantly higher than you.

Yeah they were one of the full S2 teams we beat, I think two of the warriors were entirely decked in S2 armor.

I'm in a 2v2 team with a frost mage and a holy/sometimes prot pally. Me (feral druid) and the mage have done pretty well, but I haven't really played many games with the holy pally when he was specced holy. I think most of the problem is that his gear isn't that good, and I don't really have the burst potential to kill the healer or dps before his bubble runs out. It's kind of sad, because we should have a really strong team.
