    YIKES.

    just got mine set up.

My balance is pretty good (Years of marching band will do that to you I guess). 51/49 to the left, I am about 3/4ths of the way back towards my heels though.

my weight was what got me though.

275, with a BMI of 37.5 . (6'0") This pretty much maxed the top of the BMI scale it had...

ended up with a Age of 32

This is the reason why I wanted the thing in the first place though.

Ever since High School, and not being active in Marching Band, Ive slacked off way too much on exercising, and Ive gained a good bit over the last few years. I dont honestly expect this to be the only thing I need to do, but If it will at least get me motivated to start exercising more, it will be well worth the investment.

Called about 4-5 different places, and they've all been sold out since this morning. Ugh.

I don't even want to try GameStop because the phone monkey will say "You should've preordered", and I'll have to kill him.

I posted this in the sales thread already, but those of you looking to get Wii Fit, be aware that some Best Buys didn't get their full shipment yet, and will be getting the second part either early or late tomorrow---so if you're looking for them out and about, you may want to check during those times.

Because this is looking like it might be hard to find for awhile.

So mine thankfully arrived via UPS today from my walmart.com order. I tried every store around me and they wouldn't even pre-order it like 2 weeks ago. Luckily walmart came through when even amazon.com wouldn't sell it.

But now I just have to look at it in the brown box because my wife actually asked for this for her birthday. So nearly a week of knowing it's here and I can't use it.

    106 blocks.

I whipped the game out again and lost .2 pounds which made the squeaky board character unhappy, I'm suppose to be gaining weight. I re-did some of the balance games which went better the second time around, except goddamn skiing. I'm just awful at it.

Anyone get a chance to follow the dog in jogging? The run was too short for him to take me anywhere different (only "beginner" unlocked).

I followed the dog on the 4 minute run.

Course Jesus and Bruce Campbell passed me while I was jogging, but seeing Brock Samson cheering me on from the sidelines made it all worth it.

I managed to get 4 stars on the Rowing Squats on my first try. Then 0 on my 2nd... Need to figure out how the hell that happened.

My problem with the skiing is that I ski. I carve into my turns with a fair bit of force. You can't really push into the balance board, you need to lean as if you're in a tuck and you're just making slight turns.
I also wish the yoga had more audio direction for proper positioning. Just a gentle "bend at your hips only, dont bend your back. It's okay if you can't reach as far" would be appropiate.

My wife and I are having an issue with the scale, it keeps underweighing us, proportionally at that too, it underweighted me by 10 pounds, and her by.... Well, anyways.... I got it to within about 4 lbs.... Seems to be an issue here... We tried it even on tile and it kept saying I was 11 pounds on the tile...

How does it gather the information for the weight...

In other news, my wife did the stability test... she's 0% stable, we laughed and the red dot went ALL over the place, then out of frustration she put her hand on her hip, which threw her balance way off.... haha....

Anyone else having issues with the thing underweighing you?

Unsurprisingly, my posture and balance need a ton of work, so I focused on those excersises. 53 minutes total and I'm pretty sore. It also said I lost 1.5 pounds after 30 minutes.

Anyway, it seems the balancing games are a bit too wonky, at least the soccer ball one was. I leaned far enough to almost fall off the board, but my guy would stay put.

The best excersises so far is the jogging and the step dancing. The latter is especially handy since I've always had a problem with stepping too hard. My feet are too damn big.

I had to repress my rage during the weighing process. I don't mind too much if it says I'm overweight, but to actually FATTEN up my Mii and give it a sad face almost caused me to smash my TV with the fit board. It doesn't even take into account that you might be holding the wiimote. That thing is what, 3 pounds?

I'm not sure how long I'll spend on this before reviewing, since it does things in two week increments, I'll look into posting a final word at the end of May. But otherwise, yeah it works. You'll sweat.

For soccer, forget that it's a game, because you're trying to make the system work for you based on how you understand it works. Instead, pretend a soccer ball is getting kicked at you and it's your job to head it. Would you leisurly lean to the side to get it, or would you quickly move your head to where it needs to be to prep for the next one.

Even if you disagree, move faster with your head.

I work in Electronics at a Target (for 7 more days...). We got in 30 copies last week and had them sitting in the back. 15 people were lined up when we opened and we sold the rest in under 45 minutes.

on the bright side, we have gotten Wii's in stock four times in the past six weeks.

Which is to say, more often than the past six months combined.

What kind of question is that.

I have done an informal survey of my area and have determined that WiiFit is selling quite well...to everyone but me.

I did see some Wiis for sale in the wild at Wal-Mart, though!

After watching my girlfriend play Wii Fit, it occurs to me that we as a human race don't really seem to know what our bodies are doing at any given time. Think about it, if you push your hips to the right side, you are doing so by exerting force through your left leg. This must be confusing the board to some degree.

What helps me is thinking of my body as a giant joystick.

Here in the Toronto area, I called two EB Games yesterday, which were sold out just by preorders, so we hit up a Best Buy here about 5 minutes after opening today and, assuming the sheets they were handing out were accurate, they were already halfway through their stock of 65. I would say it's likely they sold out.

I am so awful at pretty much all the balance games. I do decently at the yoga and the aerobics though, and I can tell I'm basically going to have to force myself to do the strength training.

I really don't get how the tightrope game works at all. It doesn't register the steps half the time I'm trying to make them. My husband wasn't trying to walk forward at all, just trying to keep balanced, and he ended up halfway down the tightrope.

I got the last copy in my zip code if the sales reps on the phone are to be believed, but the wife was overjoyed, and we both did about 40 minutes of activities. If you really get into it, then I think you might actually see some kind of result. By the end I felt like I had done something, which is more then my normal wednesday night at least.

I walked into a Fred Meyer after work and picked one up along with We Ski. Looked like they had 1 or 2 left behind the counter. Hooked it up and tried it out a little, and it weighed me perfectly.

Skiing kicks my ass, but Soccer sure as hell rapes it. I'll be pretty impressed if I just get better at that, lol.

So far I'm very happy with it. Have to wait until tomorrow morning to really get into it. One thing that disappointed me though, was the severe limit to how much weight it will allow you to lose for your goal. It stopped me at -22, when I was looking to set it to -32. Not a big deal, since you can just adjust your goal every 2 weeks, but it would have been nice to be able to set it and forget it.

I was really happy that my feet fit perfectly on the board. I wear 12 1/2's-13's, so I was a bit concerned, but it was absolutely just right. It felt sturdy, and all the balancing bits seemed totally responsive, especially in the skiing/ski jump games. In soccer I was mostly flailing about, so I'm gonna give that one some time. :p

Over all though, definitely happy with my purchase. Probably won't get to try We Ski til this weekend though. Hopefully it's as enjoyable as 1up made it out to be.

Damnit. I tried 6 stores, they're all out of non-preorders.
The worst part is that I tried to preorder it before at my local EBgames, but they had like 4 different skus so the clerk wouldn't do it, fearing to choose the wrong sku (he had no idea what they all were).

I love it. We played pretty much all evening till about 11:00 or so. My wife, my 3 year old son and my mother in law all took turns. Each of us dominated a different event - my son was best at soccer, my wife beat me at yoga but we were neck and neck on step aerobics and hulu hoop - my mother in law beat us all at yoga and I won at most of the strength ones.

Another homerun for Nintendo - I can see this making the Wii a tough find again.

Even though I would not consider my carpet to be 'heavy', it was underweighing me by 10 pounds. I put on the feet extensions, and it weighed myself, my wife, and my daughter accurately (for my wife, within a pound, she had just come back from the Dr.'s office)

When you step on the board, the feet sink into the carpet and pad underneath. Depending on how far it presses into the carpet, you have a small force upwards onto the bottom of the board (not the feet) from the carpet itself, offsetting the sensors by a few pounds.

    Adding the extensions prevents this.

I am perfectly balanced, but like everyone else here I put my weight on my heels. Oddly enough, the game that tired me out the most was the hula hoop game. For catching the hula hoops and for hitting the soccer balls, I find it works best if you lift your left foot up a bit when you lean right and vice versa.

Anyone else having issues with the thing underweighing you?

My girlfriend had the opposite problem. She either stepped on the board when it said not to or stepped off when it was calculating something. She went to do the push up game and as soon as she touched the board with her hands, it said her weight had drastically increased and it couldn't continue.

If you moved the board when it was first powered on and figuring out a "0" baseline reading, you could have caused it to be off. It seems as though most problems are solved by turning the board and Wii (red light) off and starting them up again. That is how my girlfriend fixed whatever it is she messed up.

I'm kind of depressed at how badly I did at the pushups, lol. I mean, I know my shoulders are a little wider than the flat surface of the board, but it's kind of sad knowing that having to have my arms just a little less wide apart makes me so pathetic, heh.

I gave up my usual exercise this morning to give WiiFit a good run, and while I wish I had still had time for my usual, I can definitely see WiiFit finding its place as an addition to my routine, after work or when I find myself with some extra time in the mornings. It definitely won't replace the elliptical I use, but I'm still finding it very worth the purchase.

Watching my husband try Wii Fit last night made me realize how much more instruction is needed for people who are unfamiliar with fitness exercises. The game gives a few tips about how to stand/do the exercises, but not nearly enough. I found myself doing a lot of extra coaching, since my husband kept doing the "no-nos" common to new exercisers. "Don't lean forward like that, keep your shoulders centered. Tuck your tailbone and bend your knees a bit. Get your ass out of the air when you do push-ups!" I'm not an expert, but at least I've had some expert instruction in the past.

What it really needs is a section of true basics for exercise beginners, that teach you how to properly position your body so you don't hurt yourself and so that you properly do the exercises. I suspect a lot of people are doing these exercises for the first time, and while there's really no substitute for a real person watchig over you, there are definitely some fundamentals that Wii Fit doesn't make clear.
