Fried Plantains: (not for the health-nut)

    2 slightly green plantain bananas
    butter or oil
    sugar (to taste).

Chop plantains into medium size pieces. Heat up saucepan and line with oil or butter (I prefer butter). Toss in banana slices. When they begin to brown, flip pieces over so the opposite side makes contact with the metal. A spatula works, but keep a fork around for toughies. When both sides are lightly browned, remove banana slices onto plate. Lightly tamp the slices with a paper napkin to soak up extra oil. Coat with sugar to taste.

Friggin' delicious. Very unhealthy, but delicious.

    take these

wrap them in a flour tortilla with some whipped cream

top with strawberry sauce and a dash of powdered sugar

    eat

Sub in a crepe for the flour tortilla mmmm

    god i love crepes
if someone doesn't get me a crepe maker for Xmas I think I will buy one

I burned a batch of cookies today. I put them in the oven and they were suppose to be in there for only 12 minutes. I kind of left them in there for a half an hour. Needless to say, they were not very good.

I haven't had much on crepes. Nutella and fruit mainly. I've had a ham, egg, and cheese crepe, too. I need to expand my crepe horizons, I guess. More trips to Quebec!

But I like the difficulty of making food, it makes it so satisfying when I get to stuff my face full of it. Kinda makes you think about how long it took for all the animals to grow up and then die so that it takes a family a few minutes to gobble it all up. But it tastes so good.

And Mully, that does have more than one crepe in it at a time right? Because I have this little crepe pan thats probably 8-10 inches in diameter, I don't have any rulers or anything in inches considering we don't use them, or are you Americans just huge fatties and need like 2 square meters of pancake.

E: Woops, 1.5 feet. That little ' is so small.

I love crepes, over here in the UK it's usually lemon and sugar but I love a crepe fill with pretty much anything that isn't onions or pickles. Chilli prawns with lettuce and cheese (type doesn't really matter, it's all good), yum

I wish I could say quid. I think I'll just get some Monty Python dvds out of my brother's room and wish my country didn't have third world internet.

Every day I endeavour to use words I don't normally use in everyday conversation. Bonus points if they start with "q", I can probably count on all countable appendages the amount of times I've said quid : b

Things like "quintessential". A recent favourite has been "plebe"

Depends on how you consume it. I've had it just pan-seared and didn't like it very much. I also had it in a terrine with caramelized onions and beets which was pretty good. Then the last way was a small piece on a slice of baguette with quince preserves and that was probably my favourite out of the three. In general, I think it's pretty damn overrated and expensive.

Oh hell yeah! We used to take them from my Aunty's backyard as their neighbours had a tree which overhung their yard. They apparently were pretty pissy about us taking their Kumquats but we got told to keep doing it before it hung over and down into the yard taking a substantial part of my Aunty's land and if they didn't want to take care of their tree and keep it on their side of the fence screw them.

Yeah, we used to have a tree growing in our backyard in the corner when I was a kid, had an apricot tree in the other corner. Man those trees fed me on so many youthful adventures into evil dread monsters lairs to save something or other.
