Sup all,
Last week I posted an Uncharted: Drake's Fortune trailer my buddy and I did. We were tired of seeing bad video game trailers, and we got some cool feedback on it. We had to use footage that was already released, but with the limited resources we had, it turned out pretty well.
We LOVE Assasin's Creed, so we wanted to do something a little less "movie-esque" and actually have live action. We had tons of cool ideas, but limited resources, but we went with it and I think we turned out something pretty cool.
Here is the link to the trailer, its in DivX format, so if you don't have that it won't work. Check it out and let us know what you think and if you never saw the Uncharted one we did thats there too if you navigate around. We are starving for feedback.
Funny you say "Assassin's Creed: Vice City" cause when our friend who was playing the "assassin" really couldn't see well with the hood on and a few times when random people walked by he almost mistakenly tried to "fake kill" them....man would that have been classic...wish I got that on tape
With any given codec you're likely to never use it again, and so Jaef's complaint is pretty valid. DivX is picking up though, I do believe, so it might get used more and more.
hahahaha in the beginning that how I thought we were going to do it...
But I just kept the camera in the same spot and waited for a bus to come with no one in the scene. Then went into after effects and masked the bus frame by frame so I could ultimately place it over the clip of the assassin stabbing the guy and the dieing scene, which was a new scene by itself (which was hilarious, because we shot this around where we live....in chicago...and flud had to fake dieing...all by himself mind you... a few times while everyone was looking at him like he was crazy...quite entertaining)
I'm not tryin to site whore as much as it seems. Yes we have a site where we host the videos in better res then youtube or sumthin. All we are tryin to do is get feedback, ideas, props and drops from people who love video games as much as we do. I have been reading the Penny Arcade comic for about two years, and was the first place I wanted to post our stuff.
Its just fun, we aren't tryin to make money, and we get the feedback we are looking for.
Like I said, I know it comes off as spam and whoring, but we just want people to see the stuff we do for fun and get some cool ideas from it.
I really don't like the colours at all. The black and white section just looks like washed out grey, and the colour bit looks... naff (and also makes the face under the hoodie look a bit like it's diseased).
If you could get a lot more contrast in the black and white + colder, harsher colours or something then I think it would look better.

edit:
you should have submitted this to that film contest they had a couple of months ago. this totally blows away the winning film.
I was the same way, but have found the DivX web player to actually be pretty cool. I've seen it used elsewhere, so its likely you'll see it again.
Of course, it might die in obscurity.
Instead what I find is a pretty damn good video.
Also, music by Blockhead, 'Triptych, part one', kicks fucking ass. One of my favorite ambient artists.
That video was actually pretty good.
"Hurry, hurry! It's coming! The bus is coming! Don't miss this shot! I don't want to wait 30 minutes for the next bus!"

Looks very professional.
I wish it was my job to create work like this, so I could spend more time on it....and not just the weekends!
