CBR's previews for Marvel comics coming out next week are up. Among them are previews for the first issues of Guardians Of The Galaxy, Captain Britain & MI:13, SI: Fantastic Four and Genext.
i think it's weird when ellis has american characters use really british slang.
Well, he did spend some amount of time in Europe.
Also, I love the "my family tree looks like two sticks jutting out of a dead raccoon" part.
i know plenty of americans who lived in london and not one of them has ever said such specific slang where i could hear it. though if they stay there long enough they tend to come back and call apartments "flats". or say "cheers" instead of "thanks", which i actually like because john constantine does it
Well if BND occurs at the moment where Peter walks out on MJ (left at the altar?) instead of marrying her, then the Gwen/Osborne stuff had already occurred.
Everyone’s talking about politics these days, and in September, that will come to include the heroes and characters of the DC Universe.
The place for the discussion: DCU Decisions, a four-part miniseries shipping every other week in September and October, written by Bill Willingham and Judd Winick, with art and covers by Stephane Roux. The heroes…they’re drawn into the political arena both by circumstance and by the actions of one of their own. A look at the art to the right makes that latter part pretty clear.
My first instinct was that a DCU political arena story sounds awful.
But then I thought, it's a new element that can give the DCU some depth. Both Marvel & DC have little "sections" of their universe, like the magic community and the cosmic community. Imagine if they created a whole political landscape.
But then I thought, I'm going to be reading some of my favorite DCU characters decry a path to citizenship for illegal aliens or some shit and it's going to me sick.
"Illegal aliens shouldn't have driver's licenses!" says Aquaman, as he punches Martian Manhunter across the electrified border fence. "They're breaking the law, plain and simple! Listen to Lou Dobbs!"
i think it's generally only in more gritty deconstructionist style comics that you find the more socially conservative-minded hero. most mainstream heroes tend towards tolerance and peace and sort of "progressive", in a sense, ideals.
excepting namor and aquaman, who are clearly racist vs surface-dwellers
Presidential elections in the DC USA should be pretty strange considering the last few presidents have been Lex Luthor, a Checkmate-controlled Pete Ross, a Checkmate figure-head, and a robotic clone.

Although that cover image for the DC Politics mini just made me think of something thats been bugging me for YEARS. I could have SWORE that Green Arrow's identity had been public for a really long time. Considering he wore no mask during Mike Grell's run and then in Kevin Smith's run he took down the Riddler while he was out to dinner with Dinah and the news showed it and it said, 'Green Arrow & Black Canary end dinner heist'. However it seemed like once Meltzer and then Winick started writing the title his secret identity was back....

Didn't infinite crisis happen somewhere in there?
Yeah right before Ollie became mayor of Star City but it had become an issue before then.
Not to mention that it would be the single greatest...... i'm not sure what you'd call it, "Avengers assemble!" page?
I can just see the beetles being drawn charging into battle doing the super powered skrull limbs thing and John Lenon screaming "Skrull Beatles Reform!"

Let's Play Final Fantasy 'II' (Ch10 - 5/17/10)
Captain Britain and MI13 looks rad. In fact, most of those previews look really good.
Well, he did spend some amount of time in Europe.
Also, I love the "my family tree looks like two sticks jutting out of a dead raccoon" part.

Norman's crazy transcends Mephisto.
Eventhough I think it should have been.
I and my Thunderbolt approving downstairs lady parts disprove your theory, sir.
Are these ACTUAL candidates or made up ones?
Cuz I have no idea who this Davis Brewster guy is.
Also: Winnick might be able to pull it out of his ass. Soap boxing is what he does best.
that is why I said what I did
I said he was good at it.
Not that it was readable.
Hey I didn't say that if you did like it you have manparts downstairs now did I?

"Seduce and rob the elderly" is the most solid solution to our crippling deficit yet.

Not that that'll make it okay.

::sigh::
if anything, superman should be completely above politics
Anally.
Oh my god why did they kill off three of the Skrull Beatles
that is horrible
Yeah right before Ollie became mayor of Star City but it had become an issue before then.
I'm hoping that statement was just part of the act, I'd really love to see them all in action together.
I can just see the beetles being drawn charging into battle doing the super powered skrull limbs thing and John Lenon screaming "Skrull Beatles Reform!"
And that's probably what'll happen.
