New phones, ringtones, and me.

So I just got a new cellphone for like the first time in 3 years. Still staying with Verizon since I'm on my family's plan and used their free upgrade dealy, and my new one just came in the mail today. It's a CDM8945.

Hey, I'm not picky and it was free. I just wanted something a little lighter than the one I had before.

However, with my old phone (some Samsung model built for Verizon) I was able to send it messages with attatched .wav and .midi files, save them, and set them as ringtones. With my new model, however, I can't figure out how to do that. I sent myself the files and saved them, but under the ringtone screen I only have the choice of using the shittacular ones built into the phone or paying Verizon for the privilege of downloading their other, slightly less shitty ringtones.

I need my Dr. Mario, my Godot's Theme, all of my good ringtones! Is there any kind of work around somebody knows of, or should I just tell Verizon I want my old phone back because their new ones suck?

First, your picture isn't working. Second, that serial number doesn't hit anything on Google or that website you took the image from.

Anyway, what has probably happened is you have upgraded to a phone new enough for Verizon to demand you use their bullshit proprietary software (V-Cast or whatever incarnation) to utilize ringtones. There are several illegal methods around such problems, all of which we are not permitted to discuss here.

In the short, your fucked unless you use Verizon's own software / services and pay extra.

Weird, I see it perfectly. I'll try changing it. And as for the name, it was an 8 not a 3. Sorry.

Yup. That's the third V-Cast phone to come out. You need to buy the V-Cast Kit plus the Bluetooth Adapter from Verizon to put any of your own .midi or .mp3s onto it.

So I can do it, if I have accessories? That's fine with me.
