So the sequel to last years DBZ:BT2 is coming out soon.
A trailer. More videos at the link.
SCREENSHOTS!
Looks like a CGI intro.
Who the hell is this guy?
No really, is he from GT or what?
This movie was badass.
Best character ever. I swear to god if he sucks in this one also there will be hell.
Looks like the PS2 version is out already, while the Wii version is hitting December 3rd. This makes me sad because it won't be included in the buy two games get one free sale at Toys R' Us.
Features:
* Head to Head Online Play
* 10 Game modes
* Over 150 characters
* Over 20 destructible battle stages
* More than 10 types of AI balancing for your opponents
* 1-2 players
Pricing: $49.99
Controls:
- Durr, the Wiimote.
- Probably the GC controller
- Maybe the classic controller too?
- I really have no idea.
If you didn't play the second game on the Wii, I wouldn't bother getting it now that this one will be out unless it happens to have a lot of bugs.
Online play will be awesome assuming there isn't horrible video or internet lag. The 2 player slowdown in the first one was bad enough.

I would totally drop one of my picks for buy 1 get 1 free if was out next week.
Already got it budgeted for the first friday in December
Wait, what? There's a shop doing buy 1 get 1 free next week? WHERE!?
Wikipedia quotes 161 characters. Which is just crazy.
Half of them probably have a generic "ki beam" and that super crappy "teleport in a triangle kicking you for 20 seconds" special move.
God I hate that move.

Hell no that was a massive brain fart it's buy 2 get 1 free at TRU next week.
I want bigger maps, and a real world map. And multiple fighters, not just one on one battles.
I mean, BT2 did every single fight from the Z saga through to GT, and threw in all the movies to boot. What more is there to possibly add? The entire DB arc too?
Gotta pity the VA's though. This is literally over the 9000th (hah!) time they've had to voice the exact same story with the exact same lines. I can just hear their boredom now.
I was lucky enough not to play the first one. I tried playing 2 with the GC controller once, it just felt bad and unintuitive. But that's probably only because I'm used to playing it with the Wiimote.

That's the problem with the series. The second one added a few things, but it pretty much stayed the same. They added in a few more stages, characters, and in-game transformations, but the missions and combat and small levels remained. And like I said, the world map was pretty useless. It did nothing. The third one I haven't heard of any real changes aside from a few more characters that you've never heard of. I liked the first and second games, but I see no reason to even get the third one.
What I want from a DBZ fighting game is how it is in the show. Give us really large maps and several characters in the fight at once. Those two things alone would go a long way in making me want to buy it. Of course, there would be other things I'd want, but those two are a start. Online support wouldn't hurt, either. And a real world map that you can fly/walk around in and fight in (maybe no real big transitions, either), not just fly to the next fighting stage.
I played the first one on the PS2, but never owned it. I bought BT2 for the Wii off a friend real cheap, and enjoyed it, but aside from the motion controls it felt like pretty much the same game as the first one. I'd regret buying it if I already owned the first one, that's for sure.
I don't see what this one adds to make it worth getting.
Wasn't he one of the evil dragons who later became good and helped fight Omega Shenron?
Nova Shenron or something.
I am excited for this game.
online play? more characters?
shit, people have been buying street fighter 2 over and over for like 20 years
Okay I'm starting to see the appeal.
I ALREADY SAID THIS
like "oh hey look its vegita with scouter/armor vs vegita without scouter and armor"
still has a shitload of characters though.
like I pay attention
alls I know is I'm trading in budokai 2 towards budokai 3, just for the online play.
and I will school all your asses with Yajirobe.
Fuck, was Bubbles playable in Tenkaichi 2?
Those are the characters I want
Well, in BT2, while they counted every transformation as a separate character, they grouped them up to keep the clutter down on the select screen. So Goku was one character and then you just cycled through forms.
But hilariously enough, what you described is exactly what happened. There are 4 different Vegeta character slots. 1 for original villian/scouter, one for armor(with SSJ forms), one for shirt (again with SSJ forms) and one for Majin.
Hey look, just like I predicted. No more Z stuff so it's now DB characters.
That's cool, I guess.
Well, I got so excited by your post, I searched all over the intarwebz looking for this spectacular deal.
And I found it.
KB Toys. Black Friday. Buy 1 Game Get 1 Free for their entire stock of games.
Also, boo for no Mr. Popo!!
(Still probably gonna buy it though.)
Gotta save something to add for BT4!
1. That youtube video looked good. That was the wii version (you can tell by the icons that appear in the bottom left corner). I wonder if there's any difference between that and the ps2 version.
2. I played a really early version of this game at pax. I own(ed) the DBZBT2 and enjoyed it, but 3 looks to improve on the old formula quite a bit, even if it doesn't really innovate at all. Keep in mind, my impressions are form a build that the atari guys admitted was already quite dated by the time it was shown at pax (it was the early E3 demo). Anyways, the main point I need to stress is that the motion controls fucking ROCKED. Gone are the finicky and incredibly inaccurate on screen cursor moves that determines specials. Now you just do the actual move, as shown by the icon in the bottom left corner, and you do that move on screen. It worked flawlessly when I tried it out at pax. People around me who watched me play were pretty impressed by the near nonstop kamehamehas I was throwing. on top of that, it was so much easier to combo (though I don't remember exactly why). Most people were turned off by that demo because dragon rushing was pretty much broken (something the rep confessed about right away while assuring me current builds had fixed the problem). But since I had played DBZBT2, it was really easy for me to just pick up and go.
Trust me guys, the wii version is the way to go if you're interested in this game whatsoever.
You ever see that genie take on both Super Saiyan Trunks and Goten at the same time?
Dude blocked every single attack. Mr Popo would be fucking unbeatable.
unless you don't care about that sort of thing
is king kai playable, that'd be tits
There are Z characters left that they could do. I really don't know why they included some of these folks but not Yakon and Poi Poi.
Ahahahaha....Broly blocking Gogeta...that's funny. Almost as bad as that video for that new Marvel game from EA where Captain America knocks the Juggernaut 50 feet into a building...
Nerd glasses off:
While I haven't been a fan of DBZ since like...early 2003, I usually find myself buying these games regardless. As a huge former Vegeta fan, I'd probably cry if they put in Vegeta w/ Mustache as a model. Actually, scratch that, it's so horrible they better put that in.
Seeing as how Dragonball is kinda on its way out from a mass marketing perspective, I hope this is pretty much the best they can make this game. That being said, I probably won't be picking this up until sometime early next year
I will ask however, have they finally just broken down and asked Toriyama to sketch ONE new bad guy for them to fight instead of rehashing the story from start to finish over and over and then adding in movie plots as well? It's an anime, just create a tiny yet insanely powerful enemy who threatens the entire universe and even throw in a SSJ5 transformation. Throw it up a bit. The what-if scenarios were fun from the first Budokai game, even if seeing Freeza head off to destroy Earth after killing Goku and Vegeta made me feel a little...bleak.
Broly was never shown to have any upper level of power. Just saying.
I suppose they didn't put Blueberry or Raspberry in, either.
Rock Band DLC | GW:OttW - arrcd | WLD - Thortar
Yeah I'll say that I'm pretty much hoping for alternate scenarios at this point. They made a unique DBZ story for some movie type video game system back in the day so I don't think that asking for a little variety would be too much to ask at this point.
Edit: I'm referencing the Playdia, a Bandai made system back in 1994.
I could also totally turn this into a "Who is the real Legendary Super Saiyan?" argument at this point but I won't. Those always turn out worse than the Superman vs. Goku arguments 0_o So maybe I shouldn't have brought Broly's power level into this :x
I'll do it, watch how it takes me 6 seconds. Ancient saiyan who had black streaks in his hair during SSJ form because of the corruption his body underwent from his many evil acts. He was sealed away in a crystal by the Kai's, too powerful to be destroyed he was best kept out of the way instead. However the events on Namek and its destruction cracked his passing crystal as he floated through space and over time the crack grew until he finally escaped. Drawn by the powers on Earth, he heads there to find new challenges and destruction to thrive on.
See? Simple, cliche but its a new story and a new villain. Its insanely easy.
I mean, sure, it's a fighting game, and the genre is not known for its plots. But you just know they're going to do the same story all over again, and make you play through it again to unlock everybody. I guess the difference now is we get to start at DB rather than Z.
