As far as the teleport on top, he must have gotten launched up there by an enemy. Probably a friend who purposefully shot him up there.

At a certain point you'd think they'd say "fuck it" and just put a big ol' kill area below every map.

First team to cap in SD wins, regardless of previous caps.

Actually, we shouldn't have even gone to SD now that I think about it. Didn't they make it so that on 2fort you only went SD when you were tied in caps? Am I crazy?

So yeah, we still won in my book. And honestly, I think sudden death should be completely abolished and the win should just go to the team that's winning (more caps, more cps owned, etc.)
Earlier it was "sorry we played the way the game was designed" and now that it has been turned around you go crying to your "book." This is the equivalent of that kid that always goes "You didn't shoot me!" then "Well it doesn't matter because I have a bullet-proof vest on!" when playing cops and robbers.

I'm glad you had fun building your little fort, but don't come in here and say "look at my clever 2fort strat" when you didn't even win.

No, an Engineer can finangle his way up there via a combination of dispensers and teleports.

Use the dispensers as platforms and build a teleport exit on the adjacent rooftop, hop off, build a teleport entrance on the lower level, teleport, build another dispenser, rinse, repeat.

It's a pretty cool trick, really.

That's not really an exploit any more than climbing the last cap in Well. And it takes quite a while (dispensers and teleports on top of the door) to climb up there so it's not really that gamebreaking either.

So gee, you created a game where most of the opposing team was not having fun, and even members [EDIT: well, just "member" so far in this thread] of your own team were complaining about not having fun
This is a silly complaint. Just so you know. I don't see you constantly swapping onto the losing side in a stacked team situation. I never, ever see that. Stop being silly. Both sides.
But I do, and that was really not at all fun.

I think Kupi hit on another good point as well - a heavy defense on an easily-defended map encourages the game to shift towards Offense vs. Defense, with maybe a few stragglers here and there that didn't get the memo. As if OvD isn't bad enough, after one of these stragglers on the "Defense" team caps the flag, it's a miniscule jump for the "Offense" team to turtle up themselves, and now you have Defense vs. Defense. Thankfully Red had the presence of mind to not take it in this direction, but the point remains - having 3/4 SGs in the intel room manned by as many engies encourages a very negative shift in the offense/defense balance of both teams.

Let me get this straight. The only games allowed to be played on PA servers are offense vs offense. No defending.

Guys! We are only allowed to utilise 1/3 of the strategies the game allows from now on, or it's "unfun". I know, I know, some of you find defending fun, but unfortuantly it has been arbritrarily decided that defending is not true fun and that offense is the only way team fortress 2 is meant to be played. Charging into the enemies guns is true gaming! Those of you who do not find this fun are bad people.
We must bow to the will of the vocal minority. I suggest both job and jonxp install mods to remove engineers, heavy's (they are too slow for true offense), snipers and demomen stickies in order to comply with this new fun regulation. Also remove 2fort and hydro as frequently requested.
Incidentally although the new granary is actually currently hated because of the perceived notion that it is too "offensive" and impossible to defend, this contradiction will be ignored and it will continue to be hated regardless.
I think we can all agree this is for the good of all Penny Arcade except for those who are obviously sick or insane because they don't agree.

Yeah, I guess we could go overboard.

That, or maybe some people just think that one specific map is poorly designed for this play style, since the difficulty level of mounting a defense is significantly lower than mounting an offense.

Flippy do you ever use the SMG? In my recent trial of the sniper class I've found I honestly have more luck with machete if they get close or noscope/quick-scope shot if they stay mid range. Honestly that gun seems to suck worse than the syringe gun.
    That's because it is.

Hit-for-hit the SMG is the weakest thing in the game. A full clip will do about 100-110 damage assuming good accuracy.

However, it has its uses. Unscoped is the best option in close range combat (alarmingly), followed by machete, but you can use the SMG to:

    - Harass from mid-range
    - Finish off a player you've critted but not killed

    and my favourite,

    - Completely throw the aim of enemy snipers whilst you're strafing to relocate.

ughh i disagree. that SMG is very accurate at mid-range, and it does quite alot of damage. the trick is to lead the gun with the trails, then the hits will register.

I really don't think the SMG is that weak. 100 damage a clip would mean only 4 damage a bullet, and it's netted me an awful lot of point-blank spy/scout kills- and with a crit streak I once totalled a freshly spawned soldier with ammo to spare.

That was a pretty bold jump. I'm saying that throwing the immense bulk of your team into defense on a non-attack/defend map really throws the game out of whack, creating an Offense vs. Defense or Defense vs. Defense game, and isn't all that great with more than a handful of people playing. :|

Oh well, whatever - it was a while ago, I'm certainly not incensed anymore. If a similar situation comes up again I'm sure I'll just leave or spec rather than try to affect the game's direction. Kind of like granary!

No, it really is that weak, as in it's the weakest gun in the game, weaker than the syringe gun.

I didn't say it was useless. And yes, crit streaks on it are pretty painful.

While true, my opinion stems from the fact that if I really wanted to play a game that was decided by the opening 60 seconds, I'd play Starcraft.

how many times do you reload in a close battle with those though? 2-3? Plus you don't have to lop the syringes, so i'd imagine much more hits for the SMG. I don't know, even though the facts say it's the weakest, i've definitely mowed down plenty of people with it.
