Good game last night guys, it's good to have a good crew to play with.

Edit: Does anybody have a good mic recommend? I have a piece of crap logitech one I got for cheap, and I'm never sure if people can hear me or not.

We need to do a Street fighter II style Balrog-stage boxing match where Marty squares off against Blind Psychic one on one while we all stand in the background doing our taunts.

That would make my video card melt, but its a risk I am willing to take.

    This. Please this.

    Count me in.

How exactly does one make a SFII video? I mean none of the classes look like the characters except for the Heavy. Hrm or we could do Ryu (pyro) vs. Balrog (Heavy).

To tell you the truth, i think the heavy looks much more like Zangief.. buut without the facial hair. Heck he is Russian, and he's got a crazy temper.

So I'm having problems as a spy dealing with engineers. How are you supposed to deal with sentry guns that the engineer is standing right next to? I can kill the engineer, then get destroyed by the sentry gun, or kill the sentry gun then get destroyed by the engineer.

    Any advice?

tell your team when you're going to sap the sentry so they can pop out and shoot it before the engineer can get the sapper off....so you tell them, sap it, and if the engineer stays where he is then you just keep putting more sappers on it till they can blow it up...if he tries to attack you then you just run around while they blow it up

If you're REALLY fast, sap gun, stab engy.

If not, the thing to do is time it with a teammate. Sap the gun right as they come around the corner to attack. Watch the engineer panic. Laugh.

    Awesomeness.

And I find all the Soldier-hating a mite confusing. Considering how that without the sheer power (and devastating crits) of their rockets they'd be a second-rate demoman sacrificing stickies for range and 25 health, I honestly can't find them an issue.

Hell, I've been one-shotted by scouts rounding the corner with a similar frequency to soldier crit rockets. That scattergun hurts.

Always jump and shoot a soldier. Never stay on the ground and splash damage can't really wreck your shit.
That's actually not a good idea. Once a Scout has used his double jump his landing position is very predictable, and a good Soldier will have a rocket there waiting for you. A Scout that sticks to the ground and strafes randomly is a lot harder to track, as long as you keep enough distance to dodge their rockets. Generally speaking Soldiers are a bitch to kill as a Scout though so if I can't sneak up behind them I'll either pistol snipe them or just run away.

I've been playing other classes lately but when I play Scout it's because I want to be a total douchebag. I take the first opportunity to slip past enemy lines, run back to their spawn and wreak havoc. Namely, kill all the teleporter entrances, hide out of view until a spawn wave leaves and them come up behind them to pick off whoever I can. Well's CP2 is glorious for that because of the two medpacks sitting right there, and if people start to come after you there's the whole roof area to run around in. A scout can basically live in the enemy base just pissing people off and nobody can do anything about it.
just fyi, you definitely are the most annoying scout

These are all great ideas, but as Spy being my main class pretty much, i'd suggest something else. What you do is blend in with the crowd, make yourself not noticable, then approach the gun/engy. Now the best thing to do is get behind the engy and make sure the sentry is pointing away from you. If you're fast enough with switching weapons, my favorite is stabbing the engy first in the back, then RIGHT away sap the gun before it turns around all the way. This helps when you pull out sapper and spam it right after you backstab him.

If this fails, sap the gun then pull out your revolver and shoot it as many times as you can. Atleast you'll get rid of the pesky sentry, and even if he does kill you his sentry is destroyed.

Since I just got TF2 last week, I'm still really new at this, a few questions for you guys:

When the spy cloaks, are they completely invisible, or predator-like invisible? If the spy doesn't move, is he much harder to see?

Does the demoman's sticky grenades go off on their own when the enemy comes by, a la proximity bombs, or do they have to be manually detonated by the Demoman?

    Welcome to the game!

When a spy is completely cloaked, they are completely invisible (no distortion or anything). If they run into someone on the enemy team, or are hit with a bullet, while cloaked, they'll shimmer their team color for an instant. Also, they have a little ninja cloud of smoke around them for about a second as they cloak and decloak that screams SHOOT ME.

Demomen stickies only detonate when the demoman manually detonates. They will fizzle out if the demoman dies however.

    1) A spy's cloak will be completely invisible before and after the fading "effect" within the first couple seconds of becoming invisible/visible.

    2) No, standing still or running does the same effect, BUT if you bump or touch an enemy it will do the Predator thing you mentioned and you'll become a walking prism for a couple seconds.

    3) No they are completely remote handled. No proximity.

I don't play spy much, but I find just sapping something and running away works best. If the engineer follows you, then lead him on a wild goose chase. When he turns around back at his sentry, stab him or shoot it. If he just wrenches his sentry, sap it again, then shoot it. If he starts shotgunning you, cloak, stay near him, and run towards (and past) him. Ideally, he'll pass you and have no clue where you went.

This worked out for me to take out a sentry and two dispensers right out from under the noses of two engineers.

I don't think calling for people to kill medics more will get them to do it any better than they currently are. Medics are peoples priority targets on PA servers. I live despite the fact that most of the opposing team is trying to kill me the minute they see me.

Yesterday I was on top of my team by about five points and I stayed there even though I ended up dying quite a lot just because on top of getting assists, almost every time I pulled out the needle gun it started to crit. So funny to watch a demoman get thwacked with a bunch of crits I just randomly threw his way and run the fuck away from the point he's trying to assault.
Scouts were a joke with a constantly critting needlegun.

I may be even more absent than I have been lately, since I just managed to snag crysis and I like to play through my FPS twice before I'm done.

Yea, I felt bad after a while. It seemed like every crit rocket or twitch headshot was against you.

Yeppers the smoke does show while cloaked. Make a mental note: It'll help.

Another thing: I found out yesterday that if i'm disguising near or around a sentry, and then become fully disguised after it detected me, that sentry will show no fucking mercy and kill it's own teammate. I mean come on i disguised why would it still kill me?

But it was through a grate on Dustbowl, so either the grate messes up the effect or they changed it since then. O_o
