You might be being a bit sarcastic there, but you are correct in what you say. When I mine (or, when I mined) I want to focus in on what is going on. I want to watch the lasers and watch the drones. I want to monitor the progress of the minerals in my cargo hold vs. the minerals in the can, I want to make sure I am mining the proper rocks and that they don't empty out. Mining is an all encompassing experience, not something to set up and then walk away on.

    Question.

How do you start in EvE without gimping your character?

I want to do Caldari Missile combat sort of stuff, what stats should I go for?

No but I was a pretty highly ranked character in idle quest:

    http://lucidchat.net/idle/

    Seriously.

But like I said earlier, someone is going to lend me a Hulk and I am going to get back into mining. I am installing the client now, I just need to pick a day where I can spend some time in game once I re-activate my account, hopefully tomorrow. I really cannot wait to start again.

What kind of things is everyone mining these days? Is it still ark or is there something better? I wanted to get my guy to become a serious ice miner at one point, I was researching the trees in Eve Mon to get to that point, it seemed pretty glamorous to me, to be able to mine advanced minerals. I bet people would really look up to me for that kind of stuff in game.

You can't really "gimp" an EVE character, though I suppose if you put all your points into charisma it might take a while to learn combat skills. Check out the Goon Recommended base stat builds.

Or you could fly Amarr. I'm a pure Amarr spec, rolled it knowing the facts, and am very pleased. Min-maxing just isn't my style.

I'd just like to say after the last few days, eve drama is still the best drama.
JC is one of Eve's legendary forum whores. He and Star Fraction were bigshots during the dark early days of 0.0 politics, where being able to bury caod in wordy propaganda was useful. They haven't been relevant for a long time, but JC has retained his wall-of-text syndrome.

All the while being able to doublethink and doubletalk themselves that even they seemed to get lost partway through, and were only able to meander their way back out from their foray into word-land.

Well, my trader character doesn't have enough money to do much trading, but his social skills lets him convince agents so send him on level 2 missions that his weak combat skills have no chance of completing.

Meanwhile, my combat character effortlessly crushes the level 1 missions he is eligible for and has enough money to speculate in ammunition futures. If only he had the social skills to get his standings up and get level 2 missions, he could actually use the cruiser he's trained for.

    1. Send money from the combat char to the trader
    2. Stop pissing away time in empire and join Merch

Protip: choosing "trader" or "artist" does shit all in-game. Base your ENTIRE base stats around combat to get them as high as possible.

If you choose one of the different starting paths, you'll begin with a different skill set. Useful for dedicated trading chars.

If I were them, I'd pay to get Homeworld and Homeworld II on Steam. Those games are probably single handedly responsible for a hell of a lot of subscriptions.

As long the players dont cram all in one system (*cough* goons'n'frends *cough*) the EVE clusters can hold lot more.

The problem starts when node need to calculate lots of relative information from single system and distribute them accordingly to all participating parties.

Its not a node specific issue, if BoB and Goons have a fleet battle, the lag can be felt in empire systems with only 10 people in local.
