That was someone else, you silly monkey, I'm not married yet and I don't fly Drakes.
I may be a pubbie but damned if I'll be confused with a guy who brags about his hot wife and leading a WoW guild on the Internet. I have some standards however low they may be.

I'm breaking my lurking streak just to say Andre is a huge faggot and I will enjoy using locator agents to hunt him down and pod him back to pre-dread skills. That's right bitch, got the ok to kill a blue.

I think there's others like the MY WIFE guy that deserves this much more than him.
I particularly relished how the members of Goonswarm displayed by wired were smoking and drinking in a dingy velour seat, it makes me feel like I fly around fake space with the cast of Eastern Promises.
man i hate that wired article, they really let the lolcat outta the bag. I second the the goon cannon funtime. Pubbies can spacejew to their hearts content after we do the big thinggy thing. The front is where its at now.
Guys, I'm just jumping in for the first time. I read the OP in the "EvE newbiness" thread but even that's a little advanced for me just yet. With search broken, finding info is tough. I'm out of work, I have a trial account, and I have a CD-key somewhere in the house but I can't find it right this moment. Couple of questions, since I'd like to jump right in the game and start messing around...if you don't mind:
1) Can I use my CD-key to tack time onto the trial account or should I go find that first and make a new account with the CD-key?
2) What race/class combo is good for a long-time investment in the game? Does it ultimately make a difference...can you learn all the skills/gain attributes anyway, or are some things locked/unique to one race/class or another?
3) Can people of one race interact positively with those of another race or is it like WoW's Horde vs. Alliance thing?
If it's a timecard that somewhat recently exchanged, I think their new trial/sub thing is a decent deal compared to the old method of trial/activating with a timecard (as now the system dings your timecard the additional fee, so you're effectively still paying their "activation" fee.
2. Caldari Achura gets you the highest starting attributes in things relevant to combat skills, since you don't need charisma at all anyways. And yes you just buy any/all skillbooks you meet the requirements for from any race and train those.
3. Yes there is no imposed language barrier beyond any actual languages you can't understand.

Thanks. It's not a timecard though, I mean I have a jewelcase of EvE somewhere in the home that I never installed. It's a really old CD...like 3 or 4 years old I'd guess. Would it be better to use that? Or can I add that on later? I dunno.

CCP hasn't sold actual CDs in years so I don't know how those work. I would just email their customer support about it.
Hey, so, new dev post on changes to Amarr. They look decent to me, but I only trust Goum to form my opinions on Amarr.
Goum?
If they actually manage to fix the fitting and cap problems problems with beams, while improving pulses ever so slightly, I will be pretty happy.
The lopping off resistances is stupid, it goes from having armor getting 140 vs shield 120 to 130 vs 110, which means shields still only have 85% of the resistance of armor, let alone how valuable mid slots are for ewar and ewar counters.
Had they left shields alone, or moved the 10% from Explosive to EM (or added racial resist bonus to shields too), it would have brought shields to 92% of the overall resistances vs armor.
Again, fixing the fitting on beams is the hugely critical part, fixing the cap use on beams is part two. After that Amarr will be close enough to balanced.
Also, Energy Neutralizers and Turret Disrupters need some love.
Its not enough to win. You want nothing left of your enemy but a skull nailed to a fence post so everybody understands the cost of crossing you. -Durga

For all your blahblahblahing about resistances, shields naturally repair, armor doesnt.
Longtime lurker of pa forums here. I played eve for a few months back in 2006 but never left imperial space (I think I dipped down to .3 for a mission once), I trained up all of my learning skills but then my friends moved onto wow and eve sort of fell by the wayside. Reading these threads has rekindled my desire to play the game again, so I'd really like to get into it this time for real by actually joining a corp.
I've got two accounts, one has ~ 6mil sp with all the learning skills and a tempest? I think. It's a minmatar battlecruiser, that's all I remember. I just started the second today as a craftsman, although I'm not really sure at all how manufacturing works in this game. I went through and got the highest mem/int I could and grabbed all the crafting skills. For that matter, I don't even remember how to actually use my ship in battle. I'll probably run through the tutorial on my new character tonight just to remind me.
Anyway, my two character names are Xiaohai Long and Moiragetes. I'd love to join Merch but as a first time poster, there's probably some kind of extra screening I have to go through?
CCP: We are reducing em resistances on armor and ex resistances on shields before fixing specific ships because we have no clue about how what small changes are, and think that a sweeping change to every single ship in the game is a better first step then just fixing the ships that everyone complains about.

Whether or not its a good idea, i dont know, but i dont think its necessary.
Hey could someone post that quote where the guy says something like
Goony Goon> Deadtear has no internet at home
Goony Goon> Deadtear flies our titan
Goony Goon> This is goonfleet
I can't remember the exact quote, thanks :V
As for Amarr changes, well I've always thought that natural resists should be lower and hardeners should be boosted so I think I like the change as I assuming thats going to come with it. I can't wait for them to change laser cap use and fittings though, even if only for the general outrage.
Shit, I didnt even connect the dots before, but this is a huge boost to Minmatar EMP ammo. Since it does 47% EM damage and 37% explosive (16% kinetic), so them lowering all shields explosive and all armor EM resist is a pretty big fucking buff.
So I'll be caving and trying this out within the next week or so. I'm not asking for a corp invite, since I'll be a complete newb. All I'm asking for is what would anyone recommend for me to do / work on figuring out? I know to do the tutorial as it is very extensive.. any other pointers?

We have a list of people on the mrchi forums that you can msg in-game and ask whatever you need to, we list what ships we fly and what we do the most of, so msg someone with interests similar to your own.
Shit damnit, reading through this thread is making me miss EVE online.
But my computer sucks and dies horribly in fleet battles, which is the reason I wanted to play EVE in the first place, so I ended up quitting and taking up FFXI. (I know, but I have a bunch of friends there and shit.)
I need to get a fucking job so I can pay for two (or three? ohgod CoX) MMO's at once and get a computer that doesn't suck, but are we still going to be doing fleet battles months from now?
And another quick question, what's the usual going rate on timecards these days, ISK-wise? I might resubscribe for like a month and just focus like hell on getting myself running on timecards, cause I'm a cheap bastard.
EDIT: Is that even possible? Are there enough timecodes floating around to actually be able to never pay EVE's monthly fee again?
So I wanna be a part of combat, you know killing the evil doers and what not. After reading the basic newbie information, and guides on character creation my brain went all on me. Holy shit is there a LOT of information. So I'll just plainly ask.
I want to do lots of combat, what race / blood line / ancestry / stats should I worry about? Willpower and Perception seemed to be the two mentioned the most for combat.. anyone have any different views on that, or can explain a bit better so I'm not 100% confused?
Thanks.. Can't wait to hop in and blow some bastards outta the sky.

Caldari Achura is recognized as the best combat min-maxing build. Perception is all-important for combat skills. Intelligence and Willpower are next.

There are more than enough timecodes out there, the going rate for 30 days is 180 million. If you can earn 180 million and enough to keep yourself in the ships you want to PvP in you're golden.
