Are you really this stupid? The plan was to move forward on three fronts to split BoB's forces. You retards had a single front (not NOL) you had agreed to cover, then bailed out on the day of the invasion. Then you come in here trying to be all buddy-buddy and complain when we tell you to get out.

As for being told not to shoot Goons, you're not seeing the writing on the wall. Regardless of who wins between RSF and BoB, Tortuga is going to be the first target once the dust settles. You managed to piss off/backstab the two biggest power blocks in the game who also happen to live next door, and are now scrambling to unfuck your relationships as best you can to save your own asses.

oh, most definitely, I am that stupid, but since I am not a Director of MC or involved in Tortugan strategic decisions I can claim to be nearly as ignorant as you. Second of all , this is the Eve thread at Penny-Arcade, not your own private gooswarm forums. So I can post whatever and whenever I want. As far as coming after Tortugans, make sure you bring more than that T1 crap you guys fly, and I'll see you on the gate. I've been forced out of systems by better people than you and your ilk. I don't see why you guys keep making it some holy jihad against me or Tortuga, but it's easy to see why you would be jealous? hateful? Smallminded? When it takes nearly 3000 people to do what it takes a Premier group of 300 pvp specialists to do. Keep on hating guys, The pilots I fly with are some of the best in the game and we'll shoot anybody, as for goons, if I'm never blue to them again it's alright by me. As a matter of opinion, I hope you guys start your invasion now, so I dont have to keep come to your systems to shoot t1 crap, it's so bad we don't even check the goon wrecks, missions drop better fittings. So keep up the hating and the posturing keep flying T1 crap and it will keep taking 3 to 1 numbers for you to make even a dent in our fleets.

On the other hand, what I like about eve is the griefers, the pirates, the asshats like yourselves, that make hunting so pleasurable plus it's a lot easier to argue for keeping you red or neutral. Keep up the good work, you're doing splendidly.

So, after loosing my battlecruiser (with some parts still shrinkwrapped) to Chinese pirates in .4 this weekend I came to several profound (to me anyway, I'm quite sure this is old news to veterans) conclusions:

    1) Never work for an agent in .5. They will inevitably send you to .4 where you will severly punished for daring to enter lowsec without a very expensive PvP equiped ship and a posse.

    2) It's quite odd that with all the complex math in this game, a low mass frigate has the physics-confounding ability to "bounce" a high mass battlecruiser to keep it from flying in a straight line.

    3) Pirates don't seem to care that you don't understand their language and demands. They really just wanted to kill you anyway.

    4) The comments throughout the tutorial and rookie channel about "pod killing is never allowed" is a damn lie.

    5) You can't enter lowsec without a big ship. You can't get a big ship without lots of money. You can't make lots of money outside lowsec. Good luck with that.

Does that complete my initiation into EVE? Can I go back to submissively running level 1 missions in my little cruiser now, or will my entire EVE career emulate Animal House? "Thank you sir, may I have another?" [whack] "Thank you sir, may I have another?" [whack]

soory, messed up and hit submit without text,
Admiral, join a 0.0 corp or alliance, you can go to recruiting channel in game as one way to look for one. With corpmates advice, their backup and supply chains, stations etc you should be able to transition from high sec to low sec fairly easy. However as a lone player you are correct in stating some of the difficulties a new player encounters. That being said most pvp corps would like to see a certain level of pvp related skillpoints, others such as industrial and pvp/industrial may be less demanding on a new players capabilities. Good luck.

Then they're not pirates. Pirates ransom ships, gankers blow them up and take the loot.
    4) The comments throughout the tutorial and rookie channel about "pod killing is never allowed" is a damn lie.

Hahahahaha. This is in lowsec, anybody can do anything. Especially if you were probed out in a mission, where there are no sentry guns. Besides, how did you get your pod killed? They can't have had a dictor bubble up.
    5) You can't enter lowsec without a big ship. You can't get a big ship without lots of money. You can't make lots of money outside lowsec. Good luck with that.

Entering lowsec solo in any ship is a bad idea. You need a gang to survive, period, unless you've got a scout, watch local for hostiles (ie anybody), and fit a cloak.

I'd like to hear that straight from the horses mouth so to speak, ask the owners of the Penny-arcade if the officially endorse your viewpoint, and your alienation of other PA readers and fans. FYI, the forums and Penny-Arcade are basically separate entities, though they do support the forums via financial and administrative means. Gabe and Tycho practically don't visit the forums, though Gabe stops by once in a blue moon (usually in the new comic thread). As such there isn't much in the way of an "official" PA anything, though I think there was a WoW guild and maybe a pokeyman TCG group.

Looks like you don't "get" the PA forums. We have no official connection to the PA site, and neither Jerry nor Mike read the forums with any regularity. Maybe I will care about "alienation" when it's of somebody that didn't register simply to troll with incoherent rants. Until then, get out.

It sounds like you're still playing solo, which would be the problem. If you want to survive in lowsec or 0.0 you need friends. Find a corp.

Is there a fee for rejoining Merch? I thought I read something on here about a 40mil census/dues fee or something. Last I remember, Philos had ~10 - 20mil on him because, yes, I'm a fucking moron who doesn't know how to make money in-game. I'm too cheap a bastard to do the timecode thing...I don't like spending more 'real' money for a game than I need to.

The fee was only for people who had simply forgotten to census. It doesn't apply if you actually quit the game and are coming back.

So I've been playing the 14 day free trial of this game and with my wife and daughter going away for the summer, it looks like I've found a game to replace WoW.

I do have a couple of questions that I was hoping you fine people could help me with.

The beginning missions are fine, but I really am more interested in the pvp aspects of the game.
I am a Caldari Achura? with military training and a monk background...is that a good selection for pvp, or is charisma a more important attribute than I thought it was thus requiring a reroll?

Does the starting race/bloodline even really matter?

I'm currently flying a kestrel with four standard missile turrets loaded with bloodclaw missiles. I looked at the attribute tab of all the various light missiles and didn't really notice any differences between them. Does it really matter which missiles are in the launchers at this level?
I also noticed that by having four launchers, I didn't have the power necessary to put any shield augmenters or armor plating in the medium slots...so would it be worth it to drop a launcher and put in some form of defensive augmentation instead and if so, should I stick more towards the shield type of betterment because I am Caldari or does it not really matter?

and finally, is the kestrel good enough to do some pvp stuff with or should I save up with an eye on getting the next in line, which I think is called the merlin, outfit that ship up well, and make sure I have enough for insurance and enough to buy another merlin when shit goes awry and I get blown up but good?

anyway, thanks for all the help

tl;dr noob asks for help, hopes not to be told to fuck off and die, unless the "fuck off and die" comes with advice on his ship

    Hum, where to start.

Different types of ammo have different effects. For tech 1 missiles, all missile types have the same range and damage, but do different types of damage. Bloodclaws do kinetic, which is fine and also the best for killing guristas, which are probably what you'll get missions for in Caldari space. Also, IIRC the kestrel gets a damage bonus for kinetic missiles.

Merlins are slower than a kestrel, but tougher. They each have their advantages, but a kestrel is probably atleast as good for PvP as a merlin. You wouldn't be able to accomplish much in PvP solo with either, though. PvP in EVE tends to be a group activity unless you have a very high skillpoint character.

In regards to fitting, are you short on power or CPU? Caldari ships tend to have CPU issues, since both missile launchers and shield modules are CPU heavy (whereas lasers, hybrids, and armor modules are powergrid heavy). A lot of people fit their kestrels with rocket launchers, though, which are easier to fit and do more damage, though they're very short ranged.
