Has anyone heard about this?
I was at my locak EB Games getting my copy og DQM Joker, when I started talking to one of the older guys behind the counter abou tthe DS Dragon quest, and Final Fantasy remakes. It was your basic "This thing will never get released overseas-No it will" argument. And he told me that he had heard that Squeenix was going to create their own console soon, and it was 99% certain it would be Japan only.
I thought that was incredibly silly, as it didn't sound like Square at all.
I haven't heard a drop about this anywhere else. Anybody around here heard it?

Why would Square make a console? I can't decide if the EB guy is an idiot or willfully spreading rumors.
An employee at EB once told me that the PS3 was going to have 8 separate CPUs.
And then his co-worker insisted that that couldn't be true because a PC can't have more than 5 because then you run out of space for fans.
You can always tell who's the dumbest guy working at an EB because he's the one that won't stop talking. The guy standing in the corner with a smirk looking on in disgust is the one that knows better.
It's going to have tentacles as controllers.
Satans..... hints.....
I laughed. Not very often that I laugh at my monitor.
Once this customer told me that he was the Prime Minister of India, and he was going to get the government to sue me for refusing to sell a display laptop that was on sale.
Employee: Would you like to preorder the Crucifix 360? It comes with a 3 day warranty. for instance, if it breaks on a friday, itll be good as new on sunday.
Me: uh no thanks.
Employee: Are you sure? It has motion controls!
Me: No.
I didnt because I hate RPG's
I couldn't find it in my heart to tell him that someone already covered the pre-order joke with a much more effective [minimalistic] approach, but having him rethink his dialogue is close enough, I suppose. Good show :P
As for Square making a console? Hahahaha. C'mon.
Yeah. I'm sure it'll end up being a grind-fest.
I aim to please.
Hey, I work at Gamestop. Doesn't change the fact that a lot of folks who work their don't know what they're talking about.
I think the greater mystery is how anyone could be so adamant in an argument against the remakes making it over here when the customer is picking up a copy of DQM: Joker. Well, at least they know where the aliens are gonna ambush me, right?
(I don't like my pizza with mushrooms on it.)

The last time I was in an EB (at the release of Okami), the guy who was ringing me up was trying to get me to preorder something and had gotten on the topic of DS games. I mentioned to him that I was waiting to get my hands on the new black DS Lite, and he told me that they were exclusive to Europe. I just shook my head and left.
I'm not going to buy a console just for Final Fantasy.
Otherwise I'd have a PS3.

ICE BURN
We had a guy at our store who was NOTORIOUS for making shit up.
I caught him telling folks that the legendary edition Halo 3 came with 5 discs, and then making fun of it for that, because he couldn't think of whatthey could possibly fit onthose discs.
He also insisted to me once that Orange Box would be coming out on multiple discs, and that we'd probably take in each disc seperately used (I'm thinking this one was caused by the "five games, one box" advertising campaign).
The worst, though, was when he was acidentally almost right. As some point he started insisting to people that Smash Bros. would be pushed back, to add more characters to it. He evengot the 16 year old who works at our store to tell it to people too. For the record, he pulled this ENTIRELY out of his ass.
Then, within the same week, Sonic is announced, and the game is postponed, so he starts insisting he has been right (clearly sonic was already in, they just waitedto reveal him, and while the game may still have some work to be done, it is not "adding characters" work) andthis just makes him even more furvent aboutthe things he pulls out of his ass.
Luckily he's at a different store now, unluckily, he is acting manager.
But... but those commercials!
If this is true then it's probably just an arcade board. Which you could call a console, I guess.
Then you call them on it and they don't know what to do.
