Don't be a dick! I'm sick of all the flaming, insults and bullshit that goes on in this thread. Enough tournament vs casual bullshit, keep it civil or keep it elsewhere. It's only a sodding game. If someone is being an ass, report them. Do not engage.

This isn't a chat thread. This thread is about Smash Brothers. Some idiot hijacked it to be about X Men at some point. On topic forum. On Topic thread. The topic is smash brothers.

No further warnings after this point, people flaming and being tossers in this thread will be seen as doing it deliberately to annoy me and probably banned because so help me I am in no mood.
ADDENDUM: DO NOT MAKE POSTS THAT SIMPLY SAY "BLUE DOT". CONTRIBUTE SOMETHING YOU JERK.

Update - 11/16/07 -- Thanks Faustum!!
<Ice Climbers: Final Smash>

<Iceberg>

The Ice Climbers’ Final Smash is Iceberg!

Calling it Iceberg is a bit problematic. I mean, it’s not like...

iceclimbers_071119a-l.jpg

Ahh! I guess Iceberg IS about all you can call this!

When you get the Smash Ball and do your move...

iceclimbers_071119b-l.jpg

The duo does a high-five, and...

iceclimbers_071119c-l.jpg

CRRRRRSSSSSSHHHHH!

iceclimbers_071119d-l.jpg

It happens even in the big city, just like this...

Ice doesn’t just make the available ledges smaller and more slippery, but it also damages your opponents!

But, of course, the Ice Climbers can handle it no problem. They look as cool and refreshed as ever.

iceclimbers_071119e-l.jpg

Sometimes, you can even freeze opponents.
Now that’s just cold!

Series Represented:
So far, we've been given a list of series that have been represented, but as we get this list, its come to us out of order. We currently have gaps as shown:

ssbbyq9.png
1. Smash Brothers
2. Donkey Kong
3. StarFox
4. Kirby
5. F-Zero
6. Metroid
7. EarthBound/Mother
8. Pokemon
9. Zelda
10. Mario
11. Yoshi
12. Fire Emblem
13. ???
14. Ice Climbers
15. Animal Crossing
16. Wario
17. Metal Gear
18. Kid Icarus
19. ???
20. Sonic the Hedgehog
21. Nintendo DS

*21 Is the highest number we're aware of, it in no way indicates that it is the final number

Another Interesting Fact: By smash tradition, there has never been a stage from a game without a character from that series representing this. That and an interview on the subject lead many to believe that an Animal Crossing character is all but confirmed.

However the Pictochat stage has thrown a monkey wrench into this theory! This is because Sakurai is insane.

Man, after all the "OH MY GOD" sorts of surprises that have been unveiled so far, I'll be really disappointed if this spectator mode really does only show random matches, and there's no way to see specific ones. So much wasted potential if that's how it turns out.

Smash TV is, but I don't think Brawl TV is.

I wonder if Nintendo has the ability to create new stickers in the future and download them via spectator mode. After all, they are just images.

This was an okay update, not lame at all. I can feel myself getting some popcorn and watching some matches aslong as I get some kickass camera angles.

Screw the haters, this is exactly what it is, and I love it. Sometimes, as weird as it sounds, I'm playing, but I don't really feel like playing. So I'll just set up matches between the computer and watch them play out. Now you can do that at the press of a button, but get human players behind the characters.

Heck, while reading the update, I had this thought in my head of setting up a TV to this, and have Smash Bros matches like a bar t.v, and setting up bets and such. And then they go and mention you can bet on the matches!

Seriously, this is a bitchin' update!

I don't see how this system would be feasible. First off, it's not like you can instantly tell who's a pro and who's a beginner just from an online name. Second, matches tend to go by fairly quickly. Which leads into the 3rd: In order to take advantage of such an act, you'd have to advertise your match ahead of time, so spectators could log in and watch your fight. Nice I guess for the competitive crowd who want to set up matches with audiences, but I thought we already established that most people here don't give two shits about FoxEliteGamer2091 and his upcoming match against FiNALdesTInATIOn69. Plus the simple act of having to advertise it would be a pain in and of itself.

I can see how it's a good idea, but I don't see how you could pull it off.

I dreamt of Captain Falcon this morning. His final smash was his car zooming on screen from the left (smashing anyone it hit), and then he jumps inside and zooms off to the right, and then he does a few lightning fast drive bys from either the left or right at various altitudes (probably selected by the player).

I was really hoping he would be today after that :(

We have it there, in digital ink, a release date

A tiny, otherwise insignificant date in the distance, a shining beacon in a world of bleakness

i kind of like the new spectator mode. i definitely won't be using it very much, but it will be cool to watch a random match every now and then. i don't like that it says that it will always be automatic. i think it would be pretty sweet if you could connect with friends and watch them go at it

    This week sucked.

    Bad.

Does that mean next week will be new, first time combatants all week?
That's what we said before last week.

Ike's Final Smash and MK's music were the only high points of the week, really.
Ike's FS is hardly what I'd call a high point. Definitely the music and spectator mode are the only things worth caring about this week.

    I liked these updates

I mean I would have preferred to see new characters, but really any information at all about Smash is welcome

Its not the feature itself (if it is they are dumb), but the apparent lack of proper implementation. Only time will tell.

I'll still pumped. I LOVE observing games of any kind.

Man, you guys are pretty lame if you think spectator mode is special.

Oh whoa, I can watch brawl?! STICKERS!?

I'd rather have them announce some new stupid pokemon character than some lame feature.

Honestly, how often are you going to want to get on the ol' wii and WATCH some random people play smash. Wouldn't you rather...Play it yourself?

After seeing this update, there absolutely needs to be a hockey game coming to Wii that uses this mode. It will be the closest thing to a 24 hour hockey channel, and HOLY SHIT I NEED A 24 HOUR HOCKEY CHANNEL!

So Daisy as a Peach alt. costume confirmed?

I rather like this update, I'm sure I'll have this playing on the tv sometimes while I'm PC gaming or some such. You never know what nifty tricks you might see. Or afkers >.>

Edit: Starman, if they announced something amazing every weekday then I'm pretty sure there would nothing new left when the game comes out. How about you praise the name of Sakurai, and offer your humble prayers that he continues take time out of his busy schedule of making possibly the greatest game of the year to show us glimpses of what will be ours to enjoy in the future? Or you could just stop being a whiny bat rastard. Either works. [/fanboy]

so are we at two weeks now without a character reveal?

Three. The last two weeks have been full of boring, and the week before that at least had Stage Builder to discuss all week, but once November hit, the boring commenced. Tonights brand of boring is at least new boring, instead of stuff we already knew. Monday better be Mega Man to go along with the Sunday's Mega Man anniversary event.

As a recap, heres what we've gotten over the last 3 weeks...

    10/29 Stage Builder
    10/30 Classic
    10/31 The Summit
    11/1 Meta Knight: Final Smash
    11/2 Character Intros

11/5 Fox Video, Fire Emblem Music
    11/6 Items from Previous Installments
11/7 Gray Fox, Grab and Throw
    11/8 Lucas Special Moves
    11/9 Norfair

    11/12 Ike: Final Smash
    11/13 Taunts
    11/14 Handicap
11/15 Meta Knight Moves and Music
    11/16 Spectator

Yeah man options and new modes SUCK

I think you should report your findings to the entertainment industry, if people were to catch wind of this a lot of money could be lost

This Just In: Stage Builder, where you get to design your own freaking levels, is offical tied in the polls with spectator, a mode that is basically "watch your friends play smashbrothers" for people that have no friends. +stickers.

    More at 11!

sorry, this week has just pissed me off, and the cherry on the crappyupdate sunday is watching people play instead of playing myself.

    I hope next week:

They put up a demo of brawl on the site that you can only download onto your wii. Then make that linked site unreachable from the wii due to some browser limitation.

And if you download it on your computer, all your get is the girl spinning the leek. Forever installed to your background desktop.
