Nintendo should just make Missingno a real Pokemon, and put in the inevitable third DS iteration of the series. That'd be so awesome.
I agree. I mean, people keep asking "What can top Arceus? He is the God Pokemon!" But I know: Missingno..
Missingno is the legendary Pokemon of nothingness. He is the Pokemon of the game itself. He attacks not the Pokemon, not even the trainer, but the player pulling the strings. He breaks the fourth wall; time, space... hell, even tradtitional rules like HP, PP, level and stat caps are nothing to him. He is the Deus Ux Machina Pokemon, the game itself.
MISSINGNO. uses save game erase!
It was super-effective!
This is a myth, it never erased my game. I even beat the game with him and the worst that happened was my hall of fame got all crazy looking.
That's just it though, for some people it wouldn't do much, but for others it would completely ruin everything.
I remember it messing up my item text, so I erased the file myself. If I can remember correctly, the glitch on the text was still there even after making a new game. Was long ago, so I can't be sure.

Well it did erase my game. Funny how just your experience isn't wholly representative of fact.
I think all the jokes have been made, but the Missingno mythos was probably one of my favorite bits from the original Pokemon games. All this talk brings me back to the days of walking in and out of buildings and the like. XD
I bet Nintendo views the whole thing with less humor than the average gamer, making it even less likely than other really unlikely things, but any nod to Missingno in new Pokemon games or, better yet, in Brawl, would be amazing.
Unown was their little Missingno homage, I believe. Random letters and everything.
Even though I already made a prediction for tonight, I'm going to go ahead and say I'm also hoping for a Mega Man Monday. It's too rare that I make a prediction for a thing I actually hope happens, as opposed to a filler update or obscure thing update.

Well, I don't claim that it never erased anyone's games, but erasure on Blue/Red was rare. More often than not, the game would crash with no other ill effect. Did you have Yellow by any chance?

My Yellow Game got erased not by Missingno, but by Missingno's Hometown. Whatever you may call it. Walking off a bit too far from his town makes your game die and reset. See, that would be a great solution to keep players in levels without using invisible walls.
The likelihood of your save getting erased or your game crashing depended on the method of capture you used for Missigno. For instance, the only problem he ever gave me was fucking up my Hall of Fame-- Red's sprite got replaced by Blue, and all of the pokemon became discolored blobs of sprites.
Thinking about this game, I kind of really want clone characters to return, if only because there are so many instances in which they could add characters with minimal balancing work that would work extremely well as clones. Sonic and Shadow, Pokemon Trainer and "Rival" with different pokemon (perhaps starters from another game or different evolutions), etc.

Yeah. I like clones. I love clones! My favorite character in Melee is a clone of a terrible character.
No one ever said they wouldn't be coming back, anyway.

Hmm... who is your favorite character? I'm trying to think of who it could be.
I always thought Roy was a clone of Marth, rather than the other way around, which is the only way I could see statement being true... not to bring up discussion of tiers, but yeah

Young Link.
To be fair, Link probably isn't considered terrible by most people, I just can't stand him.

Still wonder how someone can seriously think that a different Pokémon Trainer with different starter Pokémon would work as a clone. O_o
yea because there are not any other fire/water/grass pokes in the pokemon universe ...
Well, if we're talking starters, I don't think any other set would actually work with the move sets for Squirtle, Ivysaur, and particularly Charizard (regarding gliding, especially), nor would they be able to match up the movements and attacks. Any other set of three Pokemon would almost surely have to be their own characters.
On a mainly unrelated note, I wish it had been Charmander/Ivysaur/Blastoise instead.

I think Link is retardedly un-fun to play as. I'm not even sure why. He's slow, but I like playing as other slow characters too.
I'd just rather play as any other character in Melee than Link.
I prefer Link because of how his Up+B semi-spikes if you hit an airborne opponent after the first few frames of animation. Makes him a diabolical edge-guarder, even if he isn't good for much else. Hiiiii-YAH!
Then again Young Link's down tilt is a meteor smash... but I didn't find out about that until recently and it's a bit hard to pull off.
Ah, I see. I just always thought out of all the clones, Link and his lil baby form played the most similarly other than the obvious speed/power/weight trade off. Projectile abuse and all that, a lot of aerials... but similar.
if megaman is in brawl, one of his counterparts better be playable.
i'm not sure if i would rather have protoman or zero playable. the zero series is my favorite to date, but protoman is an original badass.
Since Megaman would be appearing as a third party "guest", I'd say the best we could hope for would be a Zero/Protoman AT, determined by which era Megaman's character is drawn from.

I'm thinking if Mega Man is in, we'll only have him to represent his series. The others will probably end up as an Assist, even though they could easily work as a playable character.
Speaking of megaman, 2 hours and 30 minutes til the update... but you would almost think we'd have had some sort of leak from the party by now, right? Unless we have and we haven't seen it, or something like that... I don't know.

Was there a leak concerning Sonic?
Edit:
I remain optimistic, seeing as the reply on the specific question was "no comment". Then again, that might instead indicate that Megaman is featured in the game in some form, like assist trophy, rather than playable.

that would make me sad. damn grey fox for setting precedent!

There was talk in the thread about "knowing about it already", so I think so. Honestly the thread was moving so retardedly fast I couldn't take it all in.
There was also definitely a leak for the Snake update, but we already knew about him from way earlier.

I dunno, their attacks differ quite a bit, I think.
Young Link's Bombs hit multiple times, his Spin Attack sucks enemies in on the ground, his Down Air spikes if you do it just right, and the first hit in his Forward Smash stuns enemies in place.
I don't know what else, since I don't actually play as Link, ever. And I guess I could be wrong about some of the differences.
Edit: There are also lots of small differences in how attacks affect the enemy that are hard to discern until you directly compare them. Just like the other clones.
He can also walljump, and his hookshot is laughable, but even with the differences to his moves people typically play him the same way as his older self, is what I'm trying to say. They aren't as drastic in terms of altering playstyle as the Fox/Falco laser change. The only real difference in gameplay from what I've seen is the application of Up+B while on the floor.

Oh, right. Walljumping is one of the more clear reasons that I prefer Young Link.
Walljumping is awesome.
Edit: And I think the difference in how the Forward Smash works is pretty big.
Sonic is a compilation of all sonics, why can't Megaman be a compilation too?
Because he can only appear as one of them. That's not to say that the abilities he would be given wouldn't draw from any number of his games, but he can't really be a "compilation" of original Megaman and X.

Which version of Mega Man do people want in Brawl anyway? I could probably take either one.

it gave me a reason to play singleplayer so i could unlock every one of them. plus more characters are always a plus in my book, clone or not.
