So, bored, I decided to reinstall WoW to say hi to some people and fool around with the new patch. It played fine for about two days before eventually locking up, forcing me to hard reboot. It played again normally, but then killed my internet connection for some reason. I was done for the night, so I just rebooted.

The computer worked fine all day today, until I went to play WoW. The shortcut couldn't find the program, and upon further investigation my game HD wasn't even showing up in my computer, just my system drive. I restarted the computer again and now Windows won't load. I get the loading windows XP screen, and then black. Wtf is going on?

Both hard drives are new within the last 6 months, and both are getting detected by the bios. Could running a game off one drive kill another drive?

I'm not a hardware expert, but I know from experience that, if you have a corrupt drive plugged into your computer, Windows won't boot, because the computer will be stuck trying to figure out what that drive is or something. That would be consistent with your OS not recognizing the game drive, too.

I would try unplugging your game drive and see if Windows can boot.

So I fooled around with it a bit today. I unplugged the game drive and it booted properly off the system drive. However, I set the computer to run a scandisk on reboot, and now it won't boot up again. I decided to run a windows repair so I set the boot sequence to go to CDROM first, but it won't read my CDROM drive.

    Any clue what's going on?

Update: I took out one of my RAM sticks, and suddenly it will recognize the CD drive again. I ran a chkdsk /r on my system drive and it recovered some bad sectors, but Windows still refuses to load.

    I am terribly vexed.
