NiGHTS into Dreams Remake (PS2)

Got this from UK:R. They're... not happy with the situation.

I'm presuming this is part of the Sega Ages line, so it's probably doubtful this'll ever be released outside of Japan. And, while it stings to see a Playstation receive the best game on the Sega Saturn, hopefully it'll bring the original NiGHTS to a wider audience.

Is it like a remake remake like that terrible Xbox Bomberman XTREME game was a remake or is it sort of like a port but with better graphics?

HOT, but I kind of wish NiGHTS would stay Wii. I'm so excited for that.

The latter, if all the other games in the Ages line are anything to go by.

Isn't the Wii getting the actual remake remake?

By all accounts, the Wii's getting a fully-fledged sequel.

This game and Panzer Dragon really made me want a Saturn.

So Sega just kinda gave Nintendo the finger and said "Hey, if the sequel sucks you cam always play the good one on PS2!".
    Hah.

Much as I'm looking forward to the Wii one, a chance to play the original without having to buy a Saturn for it would be nice.
Here's hoping this makes it over here.

I am kind of excited for this - I never played the original nights and would probably never really get a chance otherwise.

Though...I mean, I sort of am looking forward to it, everyone seems to speak so highly of it...but I've been looking at all the videos for the wii game and...I'm not feeling particularly impressed? I mean, it's a lot of flying through rings I guess. Is this the whole game? It seems like I'm just missing something.
Is it just "sense of wonder"?

Interesting. If this remake follows the exact same scenarios, levels, and gameplay of the original, I'll give it a go.

Assuming it's like $20 that is. Not paying any more than that.

What next? A SNES version of Sonic?

... Somebody's told them about Smash Bros, right?

Anyways, awesome news. Never had a Saturn so it'll finally give me (and lots of other people, I assume) a chance to play this thing.

Unfortunately, a lot of the code for Saga has been lost.

The problem with Panzer Dragoon Saga is that it is a ugly ass game by today standards. Lost code would not be a big deal, seeing how they would be better off using a whole new engine anyways.

A NiGHTS remake would be awesome, though the graphics has age nicely over the years. My main concern is the music. NiGHTS music is like 2/3s of the game.

I am pleased about this - I didn't get a chance to play the original NiGHTS.

Also, it pisses UK:R off. Anything that brings anguish to that tower of douchitude brings a smile to my face.

If Sega brings this over, I'll be ecstatic on one hand, and livid on the other, because they were willing to bring this, and not the Ages remake of Dragon Force.

Then again, without Working Designs around, that might be for the best.

I was also hoping this meant the sequel's coming to PS2. :| Guess I'll still need a Wii.

Zombie'ing this thread because the game is out (in Japan).

I played the Japanese version. It is extremely import friendly and the only thing I can imagine being a problem is if you have never played the game before the tips it gives you at the end of each level are very helpful but they are in Japanese. The menu and stage names are in english that's about all the reading you need to do.

So is it a remake? Yes and no. There is "A Whole New Dream" and "Sega Saturn Dream" on the main menu. They are both the original NiGHTS game, but the former has updated graphics that look really great and keep true to the original while the latter looks like a port of the original. As you play on one version, the game unlocks in the other, so you don't have to make a choice and then play through that one. It's all the same game, you simply pick which visual style you want to play in.

On the main menu there is also ?????, which I'm hoping is Christmas NiGHTS.

Anyways, since it sounds like this might never make it to the US, this link might be of interest ($40 for an import isn't a bad deal, old port or not).

Oh and there is widescreen support :)
