From what I gleaned from the rules, it only matters if you're discussing where to find one or how to use one. I just mentioned that it would be a cool thing to have in passing.

Meh, just start selling Bluetooth Wiimotes and the PS3 could play Wii games. The Wii couldn't do the same for PS3 or 360 games.
Or just sell CPU, GPU, and RAM upgrades for the Wii and it could play PS3 and 360 games. Neither scenario is likely.
Upgrades and accessories don't sell consoles, and they don't sell games. Doesn't matter what they are. Or is Eye of Judgment the #1 PS3 game right now? And in any case, the PS3 has waggle and hardly any games implement it.
It'd be much easier to just register a Bluetooth Wiimote with your PS3 than it would be to open up your Wii and mess with its insides until it could play the other games.
And what the hell did the rest of your post have to do with what I said? I never said that it would sell the console. I just said that it would be easy to do.
Also, whoever said that Wiimotes are already Bluetooth-
I just checked Wikipedia, and apparently they DO use short-ranged Bluetooth. So I might as well just go find an emulator for my PS3 and play my Wii games on it.
Except I can't plug my Gamecube controller into my PS3 to play Brawl... ;_;
Ok, while I could ignore the whole I'll try the wii Re4 but buy it for ps2 anyway thing, the idea that developers might use the wiimote for the ps3 is just...O_o
EDIT: oh, you ment the E-word. that's probably even further out there since AFAIK the only last-gen console that's even remotely week enough for that to be done is the ps2

Then you're speaking hypothetically, which means that my scenario of upgrading the Wii is just as valid. Neither is likely to happen officially anytime soon. And while I don't like to say never, I am fairly confident that we will not see a viable Wii emulator for the PS3.
Would it be easier to make a PS3 use a wiimote than to make a Wii more powerful? Absolutely. Is either going to happen in any meaningful way in the foreseeable future? Nope.

The Wii, however, has stuff I'd only enjoy on a console and that can't be duplicated with the 360.
Like Rock Band!

People are getting pretty close to getting that to work on PC.
So, no.
I don't see how people might be able to play Rock Band on the PC in the future has anything to do with me rimshotting the wii.
If I can duplicate it on the pc, it is not something I'd only enjoy on a console.
And people could quite easily duplicate the Wii on a PC. And don't say anything about not being able to use the Wiimote with a PC. If you can do it with the peripherals for Rock Band you can do it with a Wiimote.

HEATED DISCUSSION
What exactly is the point you're making? That the Wii has weaker hardware? That's something that we all know and accept.
But saying that the PS3 or 360 is better because they can do anything the Wii can do, so long as an unlikely series of events takes place, is a bit silly.
The 360 and PS3 have enough going for them that we don't need to make up stuff about why they are good. Shit, the 360 is absolutely a better system than the Wii right now in my opinion for one simple reason: it's got way more great games.
And don't say anything about not being able to use the Wiimote with a PC. If you can do it with the peripherals for Rock Band you can do it with a Wiimote.

Well, it's not as if the game is too advanced for the Wii. Harmonix just didn't seem to want to develop it. Makes me wonder if there will be a port later.
But you do have a point...as long as companies bypass the Wii for their major titles when they very well could be done on the system, it's going to be consistent argument why it's not doing as well as it could.
I'll bet a cock that Rock Band will eventually land on the Wii. Not my cock, mind you, but a cock nonetheless.
I only say this because harmonix seems hesitant to completely deny rumours of a wii version. They keep hinting at a "well, wait and see" attitude. Perhaps they were waiting to see how well GHIII did? I'm not sure.
Actually, if they did end up making that waggily PS2, I'd probably pick it up. Not only would I want to try it out, but it would give me an excuse to pick up all my old favorite PS2 games again.
Also just to add something to the little discussion going on up there, better hardware doesn't equal better graphics and nothing else. There are plenty of gameplay innovations that the Wii can't do simply because it lacks the processing power.
The Wii, however, has stuff I'd only enjoy on a console and that can't be duplicated with the 360.

A number of features of the Wii Remote have been reverse engineered to allow the development of drivers for Microsoft Windows, Linux and Mac OSX. The Bluetooth HID driver is used to interface with the computer using a custom report format.[15]
The Wii Remote has been hacked to do a variety of actions not involving the console, including control a Roomba robot vacuum cleaner, mix and splice tracks in a deejay act, control an industrial robot playing tennis, control a drum kit, and play laser tag.[1] Some companies are looking into reprogramming Wii Remotes for business applications such as manufacturing operations.

Why do you keep twisting my words? I never said that this is a reason for the PS3 or 360 to be better. I was simply stating that the Wii can't really do as much as people claim that it can. Everyone thinks that it's some kind of revolutionary thing that's going to change the industry into some sort of Eden of Nintendo Fanboyism. It's not really that innovative, and it can't really do anything that other systems aren't capable of as well. It just happens to have a fancy peripheral as its primary controller.

too bad there hasn't been any formal announcement. For all we know, it wont happen, even if the likelihood is leaning heavily towards a comfirmation.
ya know, you could have been civil and just said that a dev stated it'd be coming eventually, instead of debasing a large group of people with a peremptory "you" for absolutely no reason.

Shplane, while those are cool hacks and examples of "proof of concept," they aren't examples of how Wii-like functionality has been replicated on other platforms; these are hacks done by hobbyists/companies who aren't the normal consumer. i wouldn't be surprised if PC devs are looking at ways of creating motion controls for the PC and for PC games given the Wii's success, but there's nothing practical out there doing what the Wii does EXCEPT for Nintendo's system. not even the Sixaxis.
the other thing is that all those examples just show how amazing the Wiimote's tech really is. the fact that it can be adapted so well to do all of those applications really drives the point home: the Wii hardware, or more accurately, the Wii controllers, are bits of hardware that no other system can replicate, at least not right now.

I absolutely agree. I only have a Wii right now so far in this generation simply because I like Nintendo games, party games, and the price of owning the other systems hurts my gentle disposition. I'll get a 360 eventually and just buy games after they're a year old or more, but for now I can live with playing it at friend's places.

That's the thing, the Wiimote's tech isn't really that great. Similar stuff has existed for years. It's just that Nintendo thought to market it at people who don't normally play games, so now it's selling like crazy. The Wiimote didn't do anything special besides bring the technology into the minds of the mainstream.

It will come out, being able to move on all 6 axises at once, and the game will be all like "shake controller to punch."

not exactly. Nintendo also made this tech commercially viable. yes, the technology has existed already, but did anyone else bring this technology together in such an easily useable AND affordable way? no other company has done it. that in itself is a pretty huge accomplishment. before the Wii, there have only been isolated hacks or prototypes.
That, was to be expected. In general, do not make threads that let Wii-lovers and Wii-haters mix. It will go south, and fast.
A PS3 thread wouldn't have gotten past the third page.

I was an early Wii adopter, securing it the week after release (a Black Friday Wii!) because I thought it was hands down the best console this generation. I hadn't bought the 360, because I was largely unimpressed with the original Xbox (I had mostly gotten it for KOTOR).
However, in October, I bought a 360, out of a desire to pick up Mass Effect when it came out, and I was very surprised with how much I enjoyed the system. Since picking it up, I've gotten Halo 3, Assassin's Creed, Guitar Hero 3 and Mass Effect. I think since having bought the Xbox, it's underscored something that I've been fearing about the Wii: the hardware limits it. I personally don't care about graphics, gameplay will always be more important. But, developers want to develop on a system with good hardware. Assassin's Creed and Mass Effect are games that aren't going to be ported to the Wii, and to be honest, the system is weaker for it.
Also, Halo 3 reveals another weakness with the Wii, online capability. I've never been a big fan of the Halo series, but I picked it up because the online support is so good. At any time, I can just randomly queue up for a game and have one in a few minutes, due to a good matchmaking system and the popularity of the game. The Wii friend code system is so flawed, on so many very irritating levels. It just boggles my mind as to how they could screw it up so badly after seeing the original Xbox Live and it's success. Furthermore, the fact that many games on the Wii have their own independent set of friend codes is unacceptable.
Lastly, Guitar Hero 3 was purchased on my 360 and not the Wii, purely for downloadable content, which is important to me, especially on Guitar Hero. The lack of a hard drive and a good integrated marketplace means no new songs.
Granted, it looks like Nintendo might be taking steps to correct this, Wiiware might be a downloadable content delivery system, and Smash Bros. Brawl is allowing random queueing. This is a good start, and if it is the start of a new trend, I'll withdraw my comments. People have gone back and forth on the lack of content issue in this thread, and all I'll say is at the start of the system, there was very little in terms of non party/minigame games. If the Wii starts churning out good content like it has been since...oh say Metroid Prime 3, then I'll revoke those comments too.
It just disappoints me to see the system come so close to being perfect, and yet just be so slightly off the mark, most of these issues could have easily been seen just by looking at the last console generation (i.e. online integration). I think the system could have easily charged another $100 and see the same amount of success if it put that into a decent sized hard drive and maybe cranked the graphics slightly to attract developers. I honestly don't think the $250 price point is the whole reason behind the Wii's success.
And I completely agree with the sentiment of feeling alienated in terms of no longer being Nintendo's target audience. They're pretty aggressively fishing for casuals, and casual adopters are what turn companies off from putting their huge, big ticket games on it, not just the graphics. When you drop a title for the 360, you're generally dealing with a demographic that games more seriously and has more disposable gaming income.
Nintendo has stated in the past that only about 10% of their customers are the uber-new-gamers who want a bunch of Wii Sports and that's it. Most of them are either like us, or are lapsed gamers who are far from opposed to big, epic titles as long as they can be played in short bursts(and ALL games should be playable in short bursts, at least theoretically).
You know what rumor I wish had happened? The whole "low priced Cube updates with Waggle" thing. I really want to play Luigi's Mansion or Mario Sunshine or Pikmin with the Wiimote. I'd easily pay $20 Greatest Hits price to do that.

Metroid Prime 1 and 2 rereleased with MP3s control scheme.
Damn Ninteno! Releasing all those casual games all the time instead of games for the hardcore! Games like Wii Sports!... well, I guess that's a pack-in, games like Mario Party and... uh... well, other casual games!
Not releasing any games for their core series like Mari- err, Metroi- err, Zel- uh, Battalion Wa- um... How, exactly, are they neglecting us again? The only people responsible for turning it into a "party only" machine seems to be third parties who make mini-game-fests like Raving Rabbids and Carnival Games.
I have 12 games for my Wii including RE4 and Metal Slug Anthology, and recently Mario Galaxy and RE:UC. I don't see any of this abandonment that is supposedly taking place.

Ports=Don't Count
So RE4 and MSA are out. Also, Zelda.
Metroid, Mario, and Umbrella Chronicles are a few examples of good non-party games, thought I'd bet that most of the other 12 games you have are. Of course, if the games you're talking about are cross-platform, they don't count either. Cross-platform games don't really count as points for any system.
The games that tend to be minigame collections are the exclusives. Wii Sports, WarioWare, Raving Rabbids, Raving Rabbids 2, Carnival Games, Mario Party 8 (Granted, the MP series did exist before the Wii), Mario and Sonic at the Olympics (/wrists), Wii Play, Wii Fit, Wii E-Penis Stroking etc..
And then there's the "Hey, let's make a sports game out of Mario" crap like Strikers and Mario Baseball.
And let's not forget overly casual games like Rockstar Games Presents: Table Tennis and 4 different Petz games(I may be wrong on this, but I couldn't fine anywhere in which they were mentioned to be for other systems, so I assumed that they were Wii exclusives).
And then the rest of their exclusives besides Brawl, Mario Galaxy, Corruption, Monster Hunter 3, and Umbrella Chronicles are generally crappy licensed games.
Now, I'm not entirely right on all of this. I've probably left out some more Hardcore oriented games as well as some casual games. But I'd say I have enough evidence to make my point.

Metroid, Mario, and Umbrella Chronicles are a few examples of good non-party games, thought I'd bet that most of the other 12 games you have are.
Your point being...What, exactly? That the first year for ALL consoles sucks, marked by low quality games, shovelware and ports? Further enhanced by the fact that nobody thought the Wii would work until the E3 before its release, and decent games take TIME?
We get it. You hate waggle. You made your point, now please shut the hole in which you have ideally been shoving Thanksgiving pie, for I would not wish a lack of pie upon even my fiercest enemies.
You know what rumor I wish had happened? The whole "low priced Cube updates with Waggle" thing. I really want to play Luigi's Mansion or Mario Sunshine or Pikmin with the Wiimote. I'd easily pay $20 Greatest Hits price to do that.
Wow. It never really struck me just how many GameCube games appear in retrospect to have been designed for perfect Wiimote controls.
You didn't put Fire Emblem on that list. Nor did you put Zack and Wiki.
Zack and Wiki is far too "Cute" to really appeal to most hardcore gamers. Also, from every account I've heard, Fire Emblem was either horrible or just mediocre.
But if you feel like including them then go ahead. They're still far outnumbered.

Like was stated before, this is a thread about people's opinions on the Wii. If such a thread exists, I fully intend to voice my opinions on the matter to the most minute detail.
EDIT: As to your actual point you were trying to make, I don't see either of the other two consoles going overly-casual. PS3 has Home and LittleBigPlanet, as well as a few $5 downloadable games. And as far as I know the only one the 360 has is Viva Pinata.
And if you're refering to the part about the crappy licensed games, yeah, that's true for a lot of systems. The PS2 had a lot of crap games on it just because it was popular. I'm not really faulting the Wii for that, so much as I was coming up with a response for the inevitable "Wii do am haz moar xklusivs lawlz" that I know will show up eventually.

ALL of the Mario Sports games except the olympics one started on the GC. Warioware started out on the GBA. Wiifit isn't even out yet!
I'm just saying that I'm not seeing where Nintendo is actively abandoning their beloved long-running series in favor of crap, which is what many people seem to be complaining about. Most of the minigame collections are third party, and many of the games you cited are shovelware. Also, you're forgetting No More Heroes, Excite Truck, FF:CC, SPM etc. The Wii is definitely not just a system for casuals, but it is inclusive. Is that so wrong?

I've had a Wii since Jan of last year (would of bought at launch, but too addicted to WoW). What I cant stand is the "wii has lack of games! 360 has a ton of games!." Sorry, but most of those games are on PC, look better, and cost $10 less.

From what I gleaned from the rules, it only matters if you're discussing where to find one or how to use one. I just mentioned that it would be a cool thing to have in passing.
Also, NO ONE WOULD HAVE NOTICED IF YOU'D SHUT YOUR MOUTH
Nope.
I didn't say that they would do it either. I just said that it's possible.
EDIT:
I NEVER SAID THAT EITHER WOULD HAPPEN
THAT WAS NOT MY POINT
I SIMPLY STATED THAT IT IS HIGHLY POSSIBLE FOR ANY OTHER SYSTEM TO DO WHAT THE WII DOES, BUT VERY DIFFICULT FOR THE WII TO DO WHAT THE OTHER SYSTEMS DO
STOP TWISTING MY WORDS BEFORE I HAVE TO HIT YOU WITH SOMETHING

If I can duplicate it on the pc, it is not something I'd only enjoy on a console.
And people could quite easily duplicate the Wii on a PC. And don't say anything about not being able to use the Wiimote with a PC. If you can do it with the peripherals for Rock Band you can do it with a Wiimote.
Theoretically, you could replicate anything on anything. I'm looking at what actually exists.
Shit, the 360 is absolutely a better system than the Wii right now in my opinion for one simple reason: it's got way more great games.
...Which should be the only reason.
people have been doing that with the wiimote since day one :P
I'll bet a cock that Rock Band will eventually land on the Wii. Not my cock, mind you, but a cock nonetheless.
I only say this because harmonix seems hesitant to completely deny rumours of a wii version. They keep hinting at a "well, wait and see" attitude. Perhaps they were waiting to see how well GHIII did? I'm not sure.
Also just to add something to the little discussion going on up there, better hardware doesn't equal better graphics and nothing else. There are plenty of gameplay innovations that the Wii can't do simply because it lacks the processing power.
*Sigh*
Read. Pay special attention to the first paragraph.
EDIT:
Why do you keep twisting my words? I never said that this is a reason for the PS3 or 360 to be better. I was simply stating that the Wii can't really do as much as people claim that it can. Everyone thinks that it's some kind of revolutionary thing that's going to change the industry into some sort of Eden of Nintendo Fanboyism. It's not really that innovative, and it can't really do anything that other systems aren't capable of as well. It just happens to have a fancy peripheral as its primary controller.
It is coming to the Wii eventually, if we go by what the creator said a few months ago. Don't think any of you got the point though.

I dunno. If I had to choose, I'd probably go with the wii, thhough only because it saves me so much money on games. I refuse to believe that any game is worth $60 on my kind of monthly income. Maybe if I had an excess of money pants. MAYBE. But heck, I think $50 is too much. $40 is the sweet spot for me, but I'll take what I can get.
too bad there hasn't been any formal announcement. For all we know, it wont happen, even if the likelihood is leaning heavily towards a comfirmation.
ya know, you could have been civil and just said that a dev stated it'd be coming eventually, instead of debasing a large group of people with a peremptory "you" for absolutely no reason.
Shplane, while those are cool hacks and examples of "proof of concept," they aren't examples of how Wii-like functionality has been replicated on other platforms; these are hacks done by hobbyists/companies who aren't the normal consumer. i wouldn't be surprised if PC devs are looking at ways of creating motion controls for the PC and for PC games given the Wii's success, but there's nothing practical out there doing what the Wii does EXCEPT for Nintendo's system. not even the Sixaxis.
the other thing is that all those examples just show how amazing the Wiimote's tech really is. the fact that it can be adapted so well to do all of those applications really drives the point home: the Wii hardware, or more accurately, the Wii controllers, are bits of hardware that no other system can replicate, at least not right now.
there were rumblings of a control system another company was developing that used a kind of echolocation to determine the controller's actual position in space, but i haven't seen anything about it in a while...i wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo acquired the company and/or technology...

What the fuck are you talking about.
"Everyone who is capable of logical thought should be able to see why you shouldn't sell lifetime subscriptions to an MMO. Cell phone companies and drug dealers don't offer lifetime subscriptions either, guess why?" - Mugaaz
That, was to be expected. In general, do not make threads that let Wii-lovers and Wii-haters mix. It will go south, and fast.
A PS3 thread wouldn't have gotten past the third page.

You're just full of arguments today aren't you?
Schwa? I was just making a statement. A true one at that.
Metroid Prime 1 and 2 rereleased with MP3s control scheme.
i would buy that in a heartbeat.
