There probably is a little bit of difference between Alliance and Horde due to certain personalities being attracted to certain factions, but I really think the overwhelming retardation is more due to immaturity, which is present in abundance on both sides.

there's a LOT of my friends and ex-guildies (The Captains of Industry, this was like THE guild. It was polite, friendly, wonderful. Of course we didn't progress so some people joined a guy that we raided with a long time ago in a coop, and thus dark whisper with ex captains was born)
Also I don't tell them (with the exception of my ex guildies) that I eff dudes. But this one guy made a particularly annoying comment nad i just told him to "Shut your goddamn face you fucking bastard" and he was real quiet for a while afterwards.

I haven't been outside of Outlands for more than 2 seconds in about a year too. Not that I would notice, because all my general channels are off.
