I've been able to run a mission or two back in the olden times, level 50 blm at the time, so I don't know if you'd consider that end game. If you aren't zomegersh 75, sneak / invis is pretty much a must. My buddy who plays a level 60 whm wandered into the wrong place and got one shotted, so even if you're super leet, there will be some stuff here to provide you with a challenge.

meh, poorly executed. I'll give it a 5 for effort.

Yes, quests. The quest for scholar is a bit on the expensive side, but not unbearably so.

Well having a big 7k in gil, and my BRD AF left from getting hacked I guess I can say I'm not going to be killing anything until I get some capital back, ENMs/Assaults anyone? Needless to say, having the option of anything ~50+ head back in the oldies to get some XP and ANs while having the ol' LFP flag up isn't a bad thing. Though it's hilarious reading the hardcore boards and seeing the elitists piss and moan that so far the expansion is catering to casual players, and there's no HNMs or anything of the sort implemented yet.

On a side note, the Drain Samba looks pretty cool, but the dance emote still does nothing. >_<

Edit: Three deaths to unlock the two new jobs: 1 on 61 White Mage and the other 2 on 31 Black Mage. Getting around in the new areas was trickier than I expected.

I'm getting Wings of the goddess tonight.

I was really excited about the goobie bags until I saw the price climb like that.

I keep hearnig: "For casual players"

Can anyone explain exaclty why this is catered to "casual" players?

Does it mean you can level solo from the begginning?

If so, alright, I was thinking of bringing my NINJA to 37 for a RDM/NIN

If it is for early level players, does that mean I'll just plow through all the missions?

and lastly, being a main RDm, I was wondering what subbing the new jobs would have on my RDM. Would subbing any of these jobs make it better than RDM/WHM for parties? Would subbing these jobs make it better than RDM/NIN for Solo?

I haven't heard any mention of these low level, solo friendly, xp-loss not applicable areas from anyone on my server. In fact the lv 75 Rdm in my LS that was in the expansion zones said that he ran into mobs that checked Very Easy to him in East Ronfaure, which means they'd devour a level 10 whole.

Where's this ability to level solo without exp loss that Coldbrand and such have mentioned? O_o

Being in the same boat as you, I've decided to hold off or go slower on my leveling for RDM until they make class adjustments for it. I have it at 68, and of course, scared beyond measure about fighting Maat because very little people can do it in the first try. Their quote was something along the lines of "Thinking about spells that will bring RDM to the front lines." I have no idea what that means, but I'm holding off for the moment to see. I think it's too early to tell, but if you're looking to melee, RDM/DNC doesn't actually sound all that bad. You lose the Bar-, -na, and Erase stuff, but you gain several healing waltzes, the lower drain sambas, and I THINK a haste samba, and you can couple up the steps and flourishes with your already large book of enfeebles. Haven't tried Scholar yet. I think Scholar was just a job stuck in there for people who have some desire to level another mage job but couldn't because their RDM, BLM, and WHM were all capped or high. *shrug* We'll see in the coming months how the two shape up.

Regarding low leveling, like I said from what I read you get a decent XP reward from just getting whacked and reraising, here's a post,

Dia'd a mob so I had threeish on me (stupid idea). I engaged with earth staff and swung a couple times, got about 4 Cure V's off on myself, died and reraised. I assessed and got 600 EXP with 325ish notes. Running around Cure IIing other NPCs for 40-100 after that only got me about 35 EXP, so it's kinda weird. <_>
    -From BlueGartr's forums.

So from what I can understand the way it's looking if your partaking in some campaign suiciding is a-ok just as long as you reraise. Now I doubt the promise of 600XP is worth burning through some reraise enchant equips, and or CP Reraise scrolls, but for jobs that are of level with reraise get yourself some easy XP by getting whacked and getting assessed afterwards.

I think the real draw, which I realized while traversing the new areas last night, is that this could potentially double the amount of camp sites for low level/mid level players. Valkurm Dunes too full again? Head to the past version and fight monsters there.

However, there is a level difference, as some areas that had noob friendly enemies have enemies that register as a decent challenge for 75 in the past. Chalk it up to the Shadow Lord's influence, I imagine.

Name's Jorginus, from the Midgard server. I was happy to reunite with an old friend who quit years ago, so we spent all night traveling to the different areas. I especially love Rolanberry Fields in the past, everything is so green.

One thing I definetely want to do this time is mess around with the other jobs. I've been a lvl 75 DRK for too long, so I'd like to take the time to level my other jobs (I have PUP at 15, and am most interested in raising that one next), but also camping in the new past areas. I'm especially glad they gave you a large list of macros, enough to have different macros for every available job.

Any site come up with a camping chart for the new areas yet?

Did the recreate the entire map in the past? Just particular areas? And what exactly is campaign? I'm really curious about the expansion, enough to grab it despite the crazy amount of releases lately, but I'm wanting a bit more info on the changes.

You can't get into Jeuno, and I don't know about the other cities, but I know they recreated at least nine over land areas and there are several other areas which don't exist in the present-time. They also re-did all the dungeon areas in those spots too, such as Garliege Citidel (which seems to be in one piece) and The Eldime Necropolis. It is really strange seeing all the defensive structures around Jeuno still standing.

Edit: After looking it up, I see there are six regions totaling 18 areas in the Crystal War time period.

So I decided to check on my baby Chocobo, which I've neglected to monitor for well over 9 months (stupid me for raising it in Sandy when I live in Bastok. I only did that because of the rumor that raising it in Sandy increases the chances for a Black Chocobo. Keep reading...). After several minutes of detailed reports, I was both surprised and ecstatic to see that it grew into a healthy Black Chocobo.

But then I was given the sad news that I had to retire the Chocobo, and while I could still use it for racing (which is going to take at least two days to read up on how the hell it works), it seems I lost my chance for acquiring the Chocobo Whistle. Is there still a way to get the whistle, or will I have to start over with a new bird?

Meanwhile, I'm reliving the nightmare of having lots of things I want to do in this game, but not enough time to do it. A lot of it has to do with the poor managment of equipment. It's really hard to both remember and gather all the stuff I was wearing as a LVL 15 Puppetmaster, for instance. Did they come up with a new system for storing different equipment and sorting it by job? Last I checked there was an NPC that did this for AF armor and armor of the same category (Beetle, for instance, but it had to be the whole set).

    Acording to FFXIclopedia:

"If you have completed the chocobo whistle quest, have a whistle and retired your chocobo, when you raise a new chocobo and register to call it you will not have to repeat the quest, your whistle will automatically call your new chocobo."

So do you have a whistle from a previous chocobo, or no? If you have not done the quest at all, it seems you will have to raise a new bird.

As for the equipment, it is as you remember it. I have an equipment alt that I keep overflow equipment on, but you are right about the time consuming nature of trading out equipment.

I never got the chance. I was cycling through the reports that accumulated, got the one about how the Chocobo hid an item and I had to find it, but then got the message about retiring it.

Dammit, I was really attached to it too. I don't mind raising a new one in Bastok, but how exactly is the color determined?

I currently have my Puppetmaster equipment in a Mog Locker, but guess what? No silver pieces. It's a real pain. The only thing I can think of is to have multiple manniquins in my room, but that would both be costly as well as creepy. :/

That's only if you buy them in Al Zhabi, right? PC vendors or AH would probably sell it for a bit more.

I read there's an NPC in all three nations that will insta-tele you to Jeuno for 300g. Pretty good, but it would be far more useful to have an NPC that can teleport you to and from the three nations (like say, Bastok to Sandy).

Really, I would love a better sorting system for equipment and items more than anything, especially since the new macros allow for multi job managment.

You can outpost warp to Ronfarue, Sarutabaruta and Gustaberg. In addition, the warp Taru in Whitegate (the one that charges you) will also warp you to those destinations after you use his services a few times.

You can only outpost warp to those places if you delivered the packages. Unfortunately I missed my chance when Bastok took over Ronfaure that one time (!). As for the Taru, I've used him at least 4-5 times so far, but I still haven't gotten the option to warp me to the other places.

When you say destinations, do you mean he teleports you inside the cities, or just outside? Regardless, if it basically meant an instant teleport to the three nations in additino to Jeuno, I would make Whitegate my primary home point.

Automotons can emote now? It also seems they received a shit ton of attachments. I definetely want to level this job up. Hopefully seeking in Whitegate would mean a quicker way to get a PT, if I can merely warp to any of the three nations anytime (and especially if people discovered new camps for 15+ with the new past areas).

Hmm, I thought he would teleport you to any nation after enough uses, but ffxiclopedia only talks about him warping you to your home nation. The actual landing point isn't listed.

At any rate, my own usual practice is to HP in Whitegate, and use the Taru brothers to get to Jeuno and then an airship to get to any other city. Warp gets me back to Whitegate.

Damn, that would've been real handy. Getting sent to your home nation is all well and good, but it's not a big step up from outpost warping (especially if Tavnazia is owned by Bastok, which is a good majority of the time. Then I can just use my ring, step outside and warp home).

I find it hilarious how Windy has three teleporters just to warp you around town. Goes to show what an incredible pain in the ass it is to navigate around that city.

It's going to take a while to read up on all the Automoton attachments. Can my automoton wear any attachment at any level? Also, I forgot if equiping different elements stacked or not (like, three fire attachments versus just one).

Which crafting skill do you use / what are you trying to make? If you're just trying to skill up, you can sometimes turn a profit by using the AH's for materials. I know it works for cooking (at least up to 50), but I'm not so sure about the others.

Anyone have any suggestions for running G2 (that second level cap quest)? I'm not quite at the cap ,halfway through 54 or so, but I'll definitely need to run it in the near future.

You should be ok if you get a group of 75s to blast the Boreals for you. Otherwise there's no chance of you being able to solo it, other than that if you get a ton of other people who need to break the cap do it together, but at this stage of the game finding other than maybe one other person who needs it is unlikely. So I hope your in a LS that has jobs and levels of all shapes and sizes.

G2 is easy, just ask a 75 to go kill the 3 monsters and boom, you're done in a few minutes.

G3 is way way longer, but you solo that stuff, so it's fun as hell.

G4 is a joke. Seriously, what the hell is that. EDIT: You just need to go to the cities and talk to people. that's it.

and then it makes up for it with G5, which I hear is tough if you're a Red mage like me.

So G2 is your only real problem now. Just shout for help in Jeuno or whitegate or during a Besieged. With 500+ people, all close to 75 and geared for their jobs, they might be more willing to help you out.

I always recommend just looking at the list of recipes (Somepage is a good place to start) and finding things that you can make at just a few points above your skill level for cheap. You break less that way, and don't spend as much gil in the process. But everyone is different.

Cotton is tough to get if you're trying to farm for it. It's been a long time since I did this stretch of clothcraft, but I looked over some recipes and my fuzzy memory tells me that I made hachimakis (grass cloth x2, wind crystal) til level 11. You can also desynth these to get some grass threads back.

Synth linen thread (flax flower x2, lightning crystal) til 19; check the AH price for flowers and thread, flowers from the guilds in Windy and Al Zahbi will usually be cheaper. You can probably make a small profit or just break even synthing linen thread then listing it on the AH in stacks.

To 22 you can turn all that linen thread into cloth, but a stack of cloth is a loss in gil for all the thread you need (3 stacks of thread for 10k to make a stack of cloth for 20k on Phoenix). I'd suggest doing yagudo fletching (yagudo feather x2, wind crystal) to 22. It's dirt cheap or you can even farm the feathers yourself. If you're sick of linen before 19, you could probably do fletchings since it's so inexpensive. Always keep an eye out on fletching recipes for clothcraft, they're usually the cheapest and fastest to skill up on.

So, just came out of a party 10 minutes ago, almost made me want to quit entirely.

    BLM/WHM

So yeah, some dark knight subbing blue mage at lvl 38 (which does almost nothing for him), BST subbing ninja because he likes looking cool with his LOLAXES and no mainheal.

Ok whatever, maybe it will work.

Nope, PLD still doesn't know how SATA works at this lvl, and on top of that I have no secondary provoke so I'm running around with my head cutoff while ending up having to fully rest after 2 kills. So I ask the BST and DRK "Do either one of you have warrior sub? Even to lvl 5?"

    "No"
    "Ugh..."
    "Don't complain... Just pull."

So yeah right after that I disbanded asap and ran off before they got me killed. What the hell happened to all the good players? They all move to WoW or something? I've hand only a handful of good groups from 10-38, i've never had this much trouble before christ.
