Pallet versus Palette

but we went to the Best Buy near the office and saw four palettes of Rock Band for the 360 and one palette for the PS3. This was after being rebuffed in an attempt to secure the same product from the Electronics Boutique, ostensibly a store that sells videogames.

That sound was my jaw hitting the floor. Tycho "Verbal Intelligence Off the Charts" Brahe wrote "palette" when he meant "pallet"? I myself had to take remedial English classes, but I happen to know a bit about forklift pallets. (Yes, I know spelling corrections are the sign of a tiny, ungenerous mind. I admit to having a tiny, narrow, ungenerous brain. I admit there is more cool in Tycho's little finger than in my whole body. Etc. But...)
pallet 2 noun 1 a portable platform on which goods can be moved, stacked, and stored, esp. with the aid of a forklift.
palette |ˈpalit| noun a thin board or slab on which an artist lays and mixes colors.

The irony here is that Tycho, the master of verbal fireworks, actually posted this. If it were a mere mortal I wouldn't have noticed. I've got to think he knows how to spell it, but the spell-checker screwed it up.

    hey there is a sign at work that says "ask associate for assistants"

    and one that was up for a month that said "hello your food and drink must a name and date on it or it will be threw out everyday...!!!!!!!"
