Ok, it's come to my attention that many of us say that we're going next year. However, it is also well known that some of have problems saving money, or actually being motivated enough to fly through the skies in a pressurized tube. Therefore, i'm making this thread for people who really want to go to PAX, but are creating barriers for themselves.

So here's the deal. If you don't think your motivation is going to hold up, but you really really really really want to fucking go, sign up here. If you sign up here and back out, bad things will happen. I don't know what i mean by bad things, but i'd like to think something along the lines of Talon and the SE++ Bee Bomb (fuck you Talon). Basically, those of us who are too unmotivated and/or unwise with their money push each other to go to PAX06.

I'll update as it moves along

I definitely need support. I mean, I have the incentive, but I'm still bad at saving.

... or actually being motivated enough to fly through the skies in a pressurized tube.

    I fucking hate flying.

A 200 ton tube of metal should not be that high in the air. The idea of it really freaks me out while airborne.

But I'll endure alot of shit to attend PAX

Yeah, but short of an elevator, it's one of the safest methods of travel; far more than say, a car.

I have no problem with flying per se. It's just the many hours spent sitting down and the £800 price ticket that is scary.

Well, if anything does go wrong while flying, at least you have the comfort of knowing that there isnt anything you can do about it.

I think its comforting. Like when you get on a rollercoaster and you go up to the top and you're like, "Right on, I can still get off at this point" but then it goes over the hump and you're boned from that point on because the only thing stopping it is the end no matter how scared you are.

First, the laws of physics and chemistry want planes to stay in they air.

I also want to go in 06, as does my buddy. Depending on the price of gas, we'll either be flying, bussing, or driving ourselves.

If we drive, this is the route we'll take:

    Starting in Winnipeg, MB
We go south to Bismark, ND
Head East on I-94 until Billings, MO
Head East on I-90 until we get to Bellevue.

If we drive, we'll probably have a 4 passenger vehicle with only 2 passengers, and we'll probably leave Winnipeg on the Wednesday.

Preferably we'd have 2 more people starting with us in Winnipeg, but I'm willing to pick up anyone on that route or within a reasonable distance of the route.

But, alas, at current prices, the fuel for one way would be a little over $400 CAD.

But flying costs almost $800 per person roundtrip and everything I've seen so far has a 10+ hour layover in Vancouver.

eh, 99% of the plan is salvagable, if it's in the Seattle area.

My friend (CyraxWins) and I will be driving. See my post in the 2006 Supertrip thread. We will be driving from eastern Pennsylvania. When it gets closer to PAX '06, I will set up a thread rallying those from the East Coast who want to drive in a sort of caravan all the way to PAX.

Also, since they already know they're going to a different venue, was it already announced which dates they're going to be holding PAX06?

    They've just said...
Will you be having a PAX 2006?
Yes, but the dates will be changing. Chances are the show will be later in the year to accommodate the new venue. Oh, and I guess that's kind of a spoiler. *yadda yadda*

i'm going to guess that driving over the rockies would be a little tricky if it were held between the months of, say, october to june.

depends on where you're going, exactly, but traveling through Colorado and Utah should be easy enough because roads are open during the winter. I bet traveling through other states should be OK as well. And you don't need a 4wd or anything special to get through

ok, good. My trip to montana last summer took me through some areas where there were gates along the highway in preparation for snowstorms. This was just in the flat areas, so i wasn't sure how bad it could get.

nevertheless, i don't have the time to drive there, so i'll be strapping myself to a winged tube anyways.
