You're wrong; also don't be disingenuous. This woman isn't saying 'wait until married to have sex', she's making up stories and spreading lies in order to scare people into doing so lest they die cold and alone, emotionally dead. People who make up fictional arguments to disguise that they really don't have a leg to stand on when attempting to make their beliefs universal are not ok people. If she'd restricted herself to a) her actual area of expertise, b) the intention of the class she is teaching and c) presenting her beliefs as beliefs and not fake facts, I wouldn't have a problem.
I never said she was an okay person, and I never said what she's doing is right or even acceptable. She may be making shit up, or spreading shit made up by someone else, but her ultimate goal in it is to impose her belief that sex should be restricted to marriage, and just because she's wrong doesn't mean you can't be reasonable about saying she's wrong. It costs nothing for you to say "The way she is trying to impose her arbritrary religious fundamentals on others is wrong" rather than "She's a insane old badger that obviously fears and hates sex".
I like the point in the Pandagon post about how its released during labour in massive amounts, which means this 'theory' would make women with multiple children addicts to labour who are only really capable of loving the oldest child :P
but anyway, the 'women are robots controlled by their hormones' thing is hardly new, and the fact that this one is also used to shame guys is probably less important in these people's minds than that meme. That 'how girls think' or whatever book that came out recently pulled similar bullshit, arguing that oxytocin is released during socialisation and therefore that's why women apparently never shut up and travel everywhere in herds. yeah...
Pheromones have been proven to play a major role in mate selection. (Sex and the nose: human pheromonal responses, Bhutta MF) This has been linked particularly to immuno-diversity. Essentially, we are attracted to people who possess an immune system with different alleles than our own because this gives our offspring a higher resistance to more diseases, and our particular scent gives another person's body a fairly good indication of this diversity. Obviously, this is a subconscious recognition and manifested in arousal or comfort.
It's hard to imagine how you could smell someone's immune system or their alleles, besides which immunity to disease isn't stored genetically. And to say it's "been proven to play a major role" is patently ridiculous.

Why attack the complex assumptions (which could be partially right) when the bizzare conclusions are obviously wrong. The human machine has a bunch of extremely hard to understand feedback loops that operate very differently w/r/t normal experience (say fucking) than they do with less normal experience (shooting smack). Fucking more doesn't make your orgasms worse whereas shooting smack requires bigger and bigger doses to get you high.

Pheromones have a zero-to-negligible effect on human behavior.
Be careful when saying this.
Okay, let me rephrase.
There's no evidence that pheromones have more than a negligible effect on the kind of behavior being discussed in this thread. Swabbing the inside of somebody's nose with a few milligrams of a pheromone produced by the opposite sex might increase vaginal lubrication or penile erection by a few percent, or it might increase heart rate by an amount comparable to half a cup of coffee, but they're not going to make you "crazy" during a breakup.
Better?

She obviously fears and hates sex.
From the OP:
I'm in a religion class where my nutcase teacher is trying to preach to my class that premarital sex is evil for a number of reasons.
...
She claims that whenever the person you had sex with walks into the same room as you, your pheromones "go crazy" and you sense they're there
It costs nothing for this teacher to say "sex is special and it should be saved for somebody you truly love" but instead she's portraying it as this insanity-inducing life-bonding ritual where part of your soul is permanently bound in your partner's vaginal horcrux. You can make exactly the same point with highly positive, affirming language but for some reason this person decided to go straight for the jugular with the scare tactics. So either the OP is exaggerating how negative this teacher is being (I doubt it) or she really is phobic towards sex.

Because someone walked into the room.
Wasn't me.
To the OP, when you confront your teacher about this, especially in class, don't be aggressive, don't be antagonistically confrontational, essentially, don't be an ass. There are few things more irritating that when a student thinks they have one up on the teacher, but get hot headed and inarticulate.

So do people having sex turn into ducklings or something?

I rest my case. She's a quack.
Emotional connection? There's no room for your "emotional" hocus-pocus here! Oxytocin-life-bonding is science!
SCIENCE!
