He has an ebay rating of thousands of goods and all of the comments in his profile are people saying he has great service and everything that everyone got worked fine. I'd be worried if he had no rating at all or a lot more negatives but everything with him seems in order.
Not to suggest that all sellers from Singapore are the same, but I happened to purchase the Baldur's Gate collector from a Singapore seller and I can report satisfactory service. Take that as you will I guess.
Thing is, saying that works against them. If I walked past you carrying a knife you'd just assume I was going to cut some bread or vegetables. But if I was carrying a knife while shouting "I'M NOT GOING TO STAB YOU REPEATEDLY ABOUT THE FACE AND NECK" you'd probably run away.

Bread knives aren't very effective at stabbing, so I wouldn't run away. So there!

Pay by Paypal. You are generally well protected. When you get the item in the mail, open it in front of the mail carrier to make sure it's not a bootleg. If it is, refuse shipment and contact Paypal for a charge back.
Although it is kind of weird for a Singapore-based seller to offer his product in AUD (Seriously, wtf? No one I know does that) it looks legit, but he's probably some guy based in Australia who's running through a Singapore distributor to get more sales.
Singapore buyers pay a standard registered postage of AUD12.00 per game and and no meet up
This alone means he's definitely not based in Singapore because no one would charge that much shipping for a DS game here and expect a buyer. Plus those who won't accept meetups are either fakes or he's not even here.
Besides if he really was based here he'd post on GameAxis, not eBay.
And yes, most SG sellers feel the need to make qualifying statements like
"IT IS NOT ANY PIRATED OR FAKE COPIES THAT HAS BEEN OFFERED ELSEWHERE"
As if it will sort of strengthen the truth in that statement. Offering receipts to prove that a game has been "VERY RECENT PURCHASE NEW" is also a common practice. Kind of the mentality that "if it ain't new it sucks" that seems to be prevalant here.
(Also we're not allowed to carry knives in public, not even Leathermans like mine. X_X )
Who are just as expensive to ship to as Americans when you're in Singapore anyhow, and who typically pay much more at local retail for their games, and who get shafted on imports regularly, particularly from small publishers.
Seriously, it actually makes a lot of sense that he's dealing in AUD. And Singapore is less likely to be the home base for a scammer than Hong Kong is.
I still don't know if I'd personally buy it though.

I see our plan is working well
also I just realized that the auction comes to a total of about 35 SGD even with the shipping charges here, which is really fucking cheap for a DS game. Isn't this a relatively recent release and not a lame throw-away game?
The fact that he's been a member for several years and has a good rating probably speaks for itself.
The problem with this is that you assume that the average eBayer can tell the difference between a bootleg and a genuine DS game, which is hard at the best of times with good bootlegs, but internet people are stupid, I mean, have you ever seen youtube comments...
In my opinion, if you can't find it elsewhere go ahead. His ratings detract drastically from the chance of him scamming. Also, if you use Paypal you have a decent amount of protection as a buyer. If you check his ratings he also sells on systems (360 for example) where you can't really pass off pirated discs which, in my mind, helps solidify his legitimacy.
It's funny, because it shows how little most people here know about Singapore. It's not like it's some seedy slum of Thailand.
Actually a lot of people here would probably be blown the fuck away if they did any reading on the city itself. It's the last remaining independent city-state, there are a wide array of laws banning all manner of public nuisance, and it's so heavy that it's sinking into the sea. You see, they ran out of space ages ago and have been building up ever since. It's like Singapore is the only part of the world that transitioned into the cyberpunk future and the rest of us are just waiting to catch up.
There are a lot of less awesome parts to it too, the laws are very strict and caning still happens there. A lot of authors and books are banned for varying reasons (Orwell is on the list). This is all very cursory though, and you guys should actually do some reading. It won't be a waste of your time, I promise.
But you know, generic Asian city = hive of piracy and nothing but. Unless it's a Japanese city. Then you know, it's nerd fantasy land full of ginormous breasted women in school girl outfits that think gamer nerds are awesome.

William Gibson wrote a great piece about it. He went to a bookstore, and he was really nervous that he'd see his books there. He was relieved to find himself banned, and in good company.

WHAT
Are you telling me that I'm going to join Atlantinians in their subterranean underworld
because that would be totally awesome
Also: Animal Farm was required reading for my Literature sessions in Secondary 2, so I don't think Orwell is banned here.
PS disaster are you from singapore because if you are we should totally hang out before we all go underwater to our watery graves.
EDIT: Poster beneath me: likely, but seeing as I have a copy of it on my bookshelf I'm more inclined to think...no. Then again my mom got it for me thinking I'd read it, so I don't really know where it came from.

nah, I'm not. I read that Orwell was banned though, although it may just be 1984.
The sinking into the sea thing is really gradual, Discovery was doing a thing on it that I was watching a couple months back. I think it's a concern mostly because almost nothing on the island is over 15 meters above sea level? I don't know. Maybe the TV was lying to me. Either way, Singapore's also been taking dirt from the seabed and their neighbors to expand their island because it's too small and that is also awesome.
Not that any of this has to do with buying games from there on eBay.
Anyhow, buying GBA or DS games on eBay is dangerous period. Always try to buy local. Even honest buyers will often sell counterfeits because they don't realize that they're holding one.

Health products? lolol but seriously this is just a front for an ebay-based store that probably has its shipments come through here or something, nothing really suspicious there so it's probably legit.
But you know, generic Asian city = hive of piracy and nothing but. Unless it's a Japanese city. Then you know, it's nerd fantasy land full of ginormous breasted women in school girl outfits that think gamer nerds are awesome.

OK, so 1) The knife debate was not really related to Singapore, 2) there is just no one selling Etrian Odyssey locally, and if there was, it would cost me almost 100 US bucks and 3) forty one dollars is kinda expensive (in relation to that link).
In general I wouldnt trust anyone selling anything from any other country but I took a risk once on empire at war from someone in thailand, it came with the manual and the disks in a plastic case, and the cd-key as a sticker apart from the rest of the game, so it looked like it fell off a truck, or a cart, etc. It worked fine and only cost me 20 bucks brand new.

Actually, I have no problem with importing stuff, as legit portable and console games are hard to find in brazil, or very very expensive. PC games are fine, we have a local EA branch that publishes all EA, Ubisoft, Lucas Arts and Valve games (and probably a few more).
But PS2, DS, GCN, etc are very expensive. So most of the games you see on my list on the link below are imported.
Email him first to touch base and is his broken english isn't too bad, be sure to use paypal.
I've bought PSP games from Hong Kong and Singapore a few times, and besides the odd game having foreign booklets, theyve all been good transactions.
And for the love of god don't buy into any bullcrap that asks you to use a payment service that isn't paypal. There are a few other legitimate ones that are recognised by ebay, but if a seller says he uses paypal then turns around on you once you've won the item... RED FLAG my friend haha.

PM DarkPrimus, he was going to sell it to me, but on second thoughts when you add on P&P to the UK is is too expensive.
Edit: I totally mixed up Etrian Oddyssey with Yggdra Union. Sorry.

He's been on that site for almost half a decade, that should go for something.
This might be better off in H/A by the way.

Yeah, I saw that, it calmed my fears ;-)
Well, think I'm gonna join the bidding fray, then.
Wish me luck.
Depends on the knife.
