I know some of you guys were having some issues earlier today. I fixed them up. Until the new forum launches I am making a temporary solution and creating a mysql check page for nagios (our system monitoring suite) to use. Now if the database dies it will alert us (myself or if I am "checked out" it will notify an admin at the colo facility).
I appologize for not being online as much, the way I look at it, we have a hell of a mod staff and they can handle social issues with the best of them, but I'm the only one with shell access, so if I have to chose between code and being sociable, I'm going to be behind the scenes.
On another note, if you email forumadmin@penny-arcade.com, please restrict emails for activations to once a week. A startling new trend has started with people thinking that typing in all caps demanding to be let into the forums is the best approach. This tells me one thing, you are taking the internet too seriously, and we don't need that here. If I see it, I will email the person back with a note explaining why I didn't activate them. On the flip side, if you email my personal email address for activations I will delete it promptly. This has always been the rule, and "activations taking too long" is not a good excuse.
