Ok, I was tuning into my local alternative station and they were playing a "high energy" mix, which was mostly ska or other bands like the Dropkick Murphys.
anyways, i heard a song I liked that sounded vaguely similar to something that might have gotten heavy rotation around the mid nineties. it had female vocals and was definitely ska. i think the bands name had either the word "fish" or the word "bone" in it, but was neither Reel Big Fish, nor Fish Bone, and I'm damn sure it wasn't something like No Doubt.
Anybody have any random suggestions I can blast into iTunes?
Save Ferris and the Dancehall Crashers are the only ska bands I can remember off of the top of me head that had female vocals and were somewhat popular in the late 90s. No bone or fish though. The Reel Big Fish song "She Has A Girlfriend Now" off the Turn the Radio Off album has lead vocals by Monique Powell of Save Ferris, might that be the song? It was the most popular song off of that Album too, I'm sure it got heavy play in 97 or whenever.
+1 Save Ferris. The chick from the group did a couple songs with Reel Big Fish though, so it very well could be them. There's also a song by Dropkick called "The Dirty Glass" that has been getting a lot of rotation on Sacramento radio, and it has a girl singer in it.
Come On Eileen was Save Ferris. It gets mistagged a lot on P2P, but it was definitely Save Ferris. Cute band, too bad they died out after the 2nd album.

I was trying to remember a song I had heard on a station a while ago, half remembered the lyrics so google and message boards couldn't help, so I emailed the specific DJ with my lame ass description and she knew and told me!
So just email and ask, if nothing else they'll send you a list of the songs they played during their little mix thing
