One of my only qualms with Mac OSX is the lack of a decent photo editor right off the bat. Microsoft's Paint is at least somewhat useful. Save for buying the line of Adobe products, including Photoshop, is there any freeware program for Mac that is fully-fuctional?
It's not free but there is a trial. Seashore is the best free thing I found though.
Of course, if you're looking for something to touch up and enhance your actual photos, iPhoto is surprisingly powerful and might be enough for what you need.
We have a Mac thread in the Tech subforum if you want this to reach a wider audience.

And MS Paint is more useful than iPhoto for manipulating photos... how?

If you want something a bit more feature rich, go with GIMP.

You'll need to install X11, but it is worth the time.
