I'm a quarter of a million dollars in debt.

    you'll be fine.

In the mean time, tell your wife to consider selling her eggs. Provided she is healthy and white, the eggs will go for around 10,000 a pop.

    No.

    That isn't a typo.

10 thousand god damned dollars for something she gets rid of, for free every month.

Alternatively, consult your financing companies about interium financing if things are tight, or even account holds or closure. CHanging your diet will help big time, as for several months I lived on a food budget of 1 dollar a day.

Using little but ham hocks and grains, I was able to keep myself full and healthy, and still have energy to work 2 jobs and still pay my medical debts. No, it isn't enjoyable, no it isn't really all that tasty. But it'll save you $100-$200 a month.

Maybe get an apartment for a while instead of jumping straight to buying a house.

Just because you're getting married doesn't mean you need a house.

    EDIT:

NM, you've got kids with you, that changes things.

    Dude, it's $10,000.

You tell the wife that she'll be hurting a lot more if she don't lay a few eggs.

But with the housing market being what it is, investing in a house rather than paying rent and getting nothing back isn't a bad idea at all. Also, a house it the best tax shelter you can ask for.

Yeah but when something breaks in your house YOU have to pay for it... until he gets on his feet, renting is usually a good options because EVERYTHING is taken care of in terms of appliances, landscaping, repairs, etc.

Convince your wife to sell her eggs and/or become a surrogate mom. They make like tons and tons of bank. Plus, you don't really have to do anything.

This is probably the best advice.

Man, if I was a chick, I'd sell the fuck out of my eggs.

Is there a limit to how many you can sell or how often you can do it?

An extra 10k from time to time would be neat.

As in, since the early 90s.

Seriously, it's a very real option. I know 3 women that have done it and gone on to pay off debt, and one has even conceived her own child no problem.

the pain is nothing more then that of a biopsy.

Certinly when weighed against 10 thousand dollars, it's acceptable. sore for a week or so, after that, she's fine.
