Okay, so I've been given a 'broken' iPod by my brother (long story on how I got it. Basically, I have a free iPod if I can get it to work fully)
It's a 4GB Mini. I think it's the second generation from looking at the iPod linux descriptions.
Whenever it is turned on, I get a big picture of a folder with "apple.com/support/ipod" under it. However, it works fine as a USB storage device (at least in Windows), even without sending it into disk mode. If I put it into disk mode, it seems to be working just fine, no error messages or anything.
I tried to use my brother's computer and iTunes to restore the firmware, but as soon as I watch the iPod reboot and iTunes picks it up, it'll keep saying that it's found an iPod in restore mode and wants to restore it again.
tl;dr I have an iPod that's only working as a USB drive at the moment, would like to get the music-listening side to work. stuck in a restore mode loop in iTunes.
