No, the Beetles need to expand their demographic. Because they're always getting confused with the Beatles, you see.

Does anyone have the address for RMA'ing your drums? I'm finally noticing my red pad not performing at 100% like the other pads and 'RMA' is too short to search through the thread for :p

Is everyone going for the normal replacement or did anyone do the express?

I'm doing the express. I still need to send off the old guitar so I don't get docked a hundred bucks.

I did the express for my drums (unfortunately my replacement drums have the same problem of missing hits). It was painless aside from the fact it took 9 days to ship to me. One note though, they put something like a $100 hold on your credit/debit card, which they release when they get your instrument back, so make sure you have the funds to do it if you do the express.

Now I'm off to go drop my old defective drums off at the UPS store so I can call them up to get a replacement for my new defective drums :|

While testing out my glorious new HDTV (a Samsung LCD), I was immensely pleased that I didn't have to do any calibration whatsoever. Everything works spot-on with guitar, so I finally ran through the Bonus Tour, and holy crap that Tribe song is fun. And Freezepop delights, as always. And Timmy & the Lords of the Underworld was far more fun than it sounds like on paper. And the Honest Bob tune is fuckawesome. The only bonus song I don't really care for is Vagiant's Seven, but the rest are sheer gold.

Oh, and I keep meaning to shoot pics, but I think I hold the record for Cheapest Drum Mod. I spent $2 at a Five Below (think a dollar store, just with everything $5 and under) to buy these small foam Spider-Man pads meant to be used as party favors, and I scotch-taped them to my drums and they quiet like a charm! It's really ghetto looking but it gets the job done. :^:

Yes, I fail at spelling. And I think it would expand the RockBand demographic, not the Beatles demographic. Probably would not make a big difference with the cost of entry being so high though.

I think they're incredibly picky about who they let use Beatles songs. Paul McCartney or Michael Jackson or whoever controls the Beatles' discography these days is incredibly stingy about who they let use the music.

MJ owns publishing rights to most of the Beatles songs, and he has been quite stingy about their use. Seeing as how we effectively ran him out of the country, perhaps he's holding a grudge? But there is still about 100 songs he doesn't own. I can't wait 'till May 31, 2008 (the day he loses publishing rights).

Didn't know that! That is certainly good news for those of us who would like to see some of those songs get around some more.

Who gets the rights when MJ loses them? Paul? Some media conglomerate?

Traveling Wilburys? Sure, that would be cool, but I hope you don't have to screw the Beatles to get them. Half of them are dead you know.

Sony, who I'm lately realizing owns half the media world. Fortunately they have been pretty good about syndication and fairly wide publishing options. Sony basically owns MJ, and he owes them some ridiculous amount like 1/4 billion $.

Yeah seriously, great pack. I thought I was only going to get War Pigs, then I remembered what the other songs were and realized how awesome the pack was going to be. I'm awful at remembering song names :(, I'm the same with Street Names, and the names of people I have just met.

Woah, that sounds kinda cool. Makes me want to get a 360 just to see that.

That's a bummer though, I hate shoddy hardware. Software can at least be patched, but with hardware they just need to get it right before it ships. Hopefully Microsoft and Harmonix don't start a trend.

Wow... my second time calling tech support was terrible. I got two guys that I could barely understand, and they had no idea what I was talking about. I told them my problem was my drums not picking up hits sometimes and that I had them plugged directly into my console. Then they asked me if I tried plugging the drum kit directly into the console, and if I tried connecting the bass pedal to the drum kit. What the hell?

Welcome to the wonderful world of Tech Support For Dummies (tm). :P They are just reading from a script, which probably says something along the lines of :

DO NOT LET THE CUSTOMER CONTINUE UNTIL THE FOLLOWING HAVE BEEN CLARIFIED :

    1. The Customer owns the game.
    2. The console is plugged in.
    3. The console is "hooked up".
    4. The console is "on".
    5. A controller is present.

    ....you get the idea.

Has anyone else had problems with their replacement guitar? I just got mine and tried it out but the strum doesn't work well at all. It doesn''t register half of the downstrums, and those it does, half of them cause it to continuously downstrum, i.e. it goes all the way down the list of songs without any more input.

This is the PS3 wireless guitar, and I tried turning the system off but once I hit the PS button, none of the buttons responded, so I had to turn off the system manually. I tried unplugging the old wireless dongle, in case there was some interference or something, but nothing worked. Anything stupid I'm missing or did EA really send me a replacement guitar that's worse than my broken original?

I realize that, but it makes me worry. See, my problem wasn't that the drum pads didn't work at all. They did.... sometimes. Every now and then (between 4 and 10 hits) stuff wouldn't be registered as a hit. It would happen while playing a song and while trying to navigate the menus. So I figured it'd be best to call to make sure this is replacement-worthy. But considering how the tech acted I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to charge me or something because they sorta kinda worked.

When I called them before my first RMA, I specifically asked about this (inconsistent pad response), and the guy I talked to told me I could RMA them. So I think you're fine.

My replacement pads don't seem much better. If I really wail on them, they appear to be pretty consistent (hard to tell if they're perfect - it's hard to keep up that kind of force, so I suspect some misses are from me not striking them as hard), but if I try to hit them at what I consider to be a reasonable striking force, I'm missing notes all over the place. It's so inconsistent it's very hard to track down. Very frustrating.

For folks who consider their pads to be working: how hard do you need to strike your pads to have consistent hits register? Is tapping it in any way with the stick sufficient? Is it important that you have a certain strike speed (even if not a lot of force)? I've also noticed that quicker hits are working a little better with the new pads, but something still feels off to me. I'm wondering if I need to adjust my expectations, or my hardware. My expectations, for the record, are that if the stick meets the pad hard enough to make any sort of wood-on-plastic "clack", then that note should register.

Also: for anyone who has felt the need to replace their replacement, do you know whether they ask you to complete your current RMA (by sending your original original peripherals back first) before re-RMAing your new items? Or do they just want you to send the substandard replacement back and try again?

Yeah, that's one of the handful of songs on drums that's both complex and fast. Even Tom Sawyer and Won't Get Fooled Again aren't too fast. I can do most songs on hard at this point, but that is not one of them.
