Eurogamer is reposting that the Xbox 360 backwards compatibility is being updated, and the list of games increasing.

Microsoft has updated the number of original Xbox games compatible with the Xbox 360, in what must have been a boring weekend.

The lengthy list now stretches over 400 games long, and has lots of baseball and basketball and football and racing titles to enjoy. Usefully for you, though, we went through and picked out selection from the freshly added bunch.

Here they are:

* Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance (US only for now)
* A Bard's Tale
* Burnout 2
* Freedom Fighters (US only for now)
* Indiana Jones And The Emperor's Tomb
* Lord of the Rings: The Third Age
* Star Wars Jedi Starfighter
* Worms 3D

Scintillating stuff - just you try and not be excited. Those of you barely able to contain yourselves should shoot over to the official site for the entire list. Note that only the US list has been updated so far.

Microsoft also recently announced it would be selling old Xbox classics on Live Marketplace for 1200 Points (GBP 10.20 / EUR 13.96). Among the gems are scorchers like Psychonauts, Halo, Crimson Skies and Fable.

This is basically reason for all you guys who have yet to play Freedom Fighters go out and get it. It is basically 3rd person shooter with great squad mechanics and lots of character.

The rest of the list is either "meh", "superceeded by more recent release" or "I haven't played" imo, but feel free to disagree.

    oh man. downloadable psychonauts on XBLA? DO WANT. As long as it performs better than some of the other backwards compatible games that is. Man some of those are so laggy.

    I was considering getting a XBox 360, partially because of Panzer Dragoon Orta, but apparently it crashes horribly at some time in the European version. Has this changed yet?

    FF is very good and only $5 at EBStop. Armed and Dangerous is surprisingly lacking from that short list, though.
