I don't quite understand the name Metal Shark Player. Why is it so different from pretty much every other Maverick name in the entire X series? It sounds so out of place.

Anyone know if that's just a bad translation or is his Japanese name something equally terrifying?
Also MT, your audio is getting better, but the game audio needs to be turned up slightly. Also, could you slow down ever so slightly whenever someone is talking? Some of them say some really bizarre things, as this game pretty much has the worst translation of any MM game ever.

Actually all of the names in the american X6 are the same as the japanese ones, except for Shield Sheldon who was something dumber like Shieldner Sheldnor or something.

The moral of the story is; don't make a MM game behind Inafune's back, or it will suck.

Argh. I've recorded a video and have basically been procrastinating with putting it up. Forgive me, I'll get it up by tomorrow. I bought a new game, you see, and it's absorbed me somewhat*
*By which I mean my play sessions have been like "where did the past four hours go!?"
EDIT: And I've been paying close attention to the Democratic Primary, too.
I'm suprized you aren't a raving madman who needs to be put in a straight jacket and locked in a padded cell right now raving about Mavericks that have invisable curse mushroom blocks above them for weapons that you need to throw into their back with a terrible hitbox like a barrel.
I always kind of assumed Dr. Wily got his money by selling some of his robot designs on the black market. I mean when you think about it, Mega Man seems to be the only one ever able to stop his world domination plans so they must be pretty viable.
Wily seems to steal more robots than he builds, though. Actually, with Robot Masters, it's harder to say. In MM1, 4, and 6, he definitely stole. 3 is kind of unclear, though 5 I think we can assume he built them, and it seems he built 7's, and 8's he definitely did.
It may also be that Wily is such a laughing stock that the rest of the world can't take him seriously anymore, and so no one bothers to stop him. The rest of the world is content to let him waggle his eyebrows and own the 8 amusement parks his latest crop of robots has decided to take over. Not Dr.Light though, he wants to go to those amusement parks and refuses to settle for another trip to Disney World.
I mean, Wily builds his castles out of giant skulls, his floor plans look like something out of a bad fun house and he designs his robots with flaws that can be easily exploited by the weapons he gives to his other robots (knowing full well that the only one who bothers to stop him can assimilate these weapons to use against him) and then there's the fact that he's still flying around in the same flying saucer he's had since 200X. This guy makes even the most incompetent of Austin Powers villians look like a genuine threat.
Really the only thing he ever gets right is giving the robots better armor then megaman, so that when they run into him, he's the one who gets hurt.
I think the weaknesses are more side-effects and such. Quickman isn't supposed to be immune to the Time Stopper; all the MM2 Robot Masters have neutralizing equipment against it, but Quickman's is defective.
Spoilered question, hoping to draw on the collective MM knowledge here.
So I get that Dr. Wily designed Zero, and that somehow that ties into the eventual Sigma virus. I don't understand how that ties into the events of X5, which I have admittedly not played in ages. What's the rundown on Zero and his involvement with Sigma and the state of the world going from the X games into the Zero games?
Thanks guys.
According to the video on Maverick Hunter X, when Sigma was still a good guy he was told to go investigate a dangerous robot in a mine or some place like that. That robot was Zero and he infected Sigma there but Zero also forgot his own purpose, for some reason I can't remember. So Sigma became evil and yadda yadda, everything up until X5 happens. I'm pretty sure the good ending is the real ending but the thing is, we haven't actually seen why the world goes into ruin in the Zero games. All we know is it had to do with the Cyber Elf Wars. It's a mystery as to how everything actually happened, you just have to go with whatever Cyber-X and the other characters tell you.
Also just because I want to bring it back to his attention, Ohtsam if you're reading this then please come back and do more videos. Come on, we all enjoy them. Don't leave us hanging. Please?
The Elf Wars were pretty destructive, wiping out a huge chunk of humanity and even larger percentage of the Reploids.
As for X5, X's good ending and Zero's ending are the true endings.
Trying to remember the whole X5 thing... the problem was that, like a lot of Mega Man lore, most of it is in Japanese sourcebooks that remain mostly untranslated officially, only this is more complicated.
We know the virus was transferred from Zero to Sigma in X4's flashback, which happened prior to X1/MHX. Instead of the normal corruption, it sort of fused with his programming, so that he essentially became the virus, and spread its influence for his own means.
In X5, Sigma and the "old man" create the colony virus, which I believe acted like the original virus, but its main purpose was to "awaken" Zero. I think when Zero crashed into the colony, whatever he had combined with the colony virus to create the Zero Virus, which you see in Area Zero as a virus with Zero's form, attacking you.

I've heard two things, one being that it's a mistranslation of "Metal Shark Preyer," the other than it references his ability to "play" with DNA data in recreating Reploids.

Xeno: I try to go just slow enough for people to read it quickly or just pause the video so that they can read. I'll try to be slower in the future, or possibly try to read the text out loud for once. Just don't expect special voices if I think they suck horribly. As for game audio... my TV has a 0 to 50 setting for volume, with 0 having no sound, and 50 being the loudest. My normal, comfortable volume for watching TV/playing games on it is 10. My recent videos had the volume up at 30, triple the volume I normally have the TV on. That was loud enough to be heard throughout the basement in my house, possibly even upstairs as well. It can get louder, but I don't know by how much. Not to mention it's probally gonna blast my ears to hell and back, given I'll be like 5-6 feet from the TV. Guess that's the price for buying the cheapest microphone I could find... barely regesters what can be heard throughout the house.
Kupi: Sorry I didn't see your vote in time. Might of been recording by the time you edited that in. I'll just count it as a vote for the next video.
Shades (that's my nickname for you now) you should probably hit up Astro Boy...I mean man, if you want to have a much easier time. Bug Fuck will Butt Fuck you unless you get some more abilities.
And as a disclaimer: I know the balls of rocks/whatever Ground Scaravich uses aren't really shit, but I could give a damn right now.
Five Nightmare Investigators left to vote on:
Rainy Turtloid
Infinity Mijinion
Blizzard Wolfang
Blaze Heatnix
Metal Shark Player
Sorry about picking the mueseum I thought it was as easy level. Anyway I vote for Metal Shark Player next, also I timed the warning screens before Sheild Shelldon and they made that video roughly a minute longer.
I don't quite understand the name Metal Shark Player. Why is it so different from pretty much every other Maverick name in the entire X series? It sounds so out of place.
I think it's because he's the only X series boss whose name is made up of three parts rather than two. Even in X8, Gigavolt Man-O-War doesn't sound so out of place because Man-O-War is really all one single part of the name.

@ bloodattonment: Im sorry I didnt know better....
@ Shady3011 :You can change my MM&B vote to something else, I dont want to make the game any harder for you.
The Snake Eater ladder is easily the best moment in that game. Screw the emotional ending, or killing The End by various dastardly methods, the ladder is where its at. That video did the scene a bit of an injustice, as he didn't stop at all. If you do stop, so does the music. So if you're going up the ladder with your volume pretty low for the first time it might seem like you are hearing things.

That does it. I'm going to have to play Snake Eater again. I can't even remember who The End is. I do, however, know that's it's a travesty for me to forget.
Ok. As I really want to get X6 done ASAP because it's slowly turning into a nightmare (no pun intended), I'm going to try to do at least one video a day, two at the most, depending on if there is/are tie/s for votes, and if the first stage I record succesfully isn't a trainwreck. With X6, trainwrecks are going to be inevidable, but I want to stall them for as long as possible.
I'll be doing my next video when I get home from classes tonight (5:15 to 6 PM Central Time at the earliest, which is about 4 hours from now). The votes so far:
One vote for Metal Shark Player OR Blaze Heatnix (Will count this as a Blaze Heatnix vote for now unless Blaze gets a defenate vote in the next 4 to 5 hours)
One for Infinity Minjion
One for MSP defenatly
One for Rainy Turtliod
MT, I'm adopting a new policy of voting for the most absurd name. This is a difficult choice, but I'm going to go with Infinity Minjion. That name makes no sense.
Also time for the boss that should have been first.
That was a particularly dejecting moment.
I went out and had a meat laden pizza afterwards. The sweet comfort of dead animals.
If it helps any, I found this video to be hilarious. Your commentary has reached the perfect level of dry, and I laughed pretty much the entire time. Jokes were spot on. Some fan worship plus the meaty hug from your pizza has got to make it better.
Also, disturbingly, the whole "Mega Man 1-ups are actually spare heads" occured to me just as you said it on the video. It was odd, to say the least.
I was probably more careless during this video than I should have been. While harder than any of the other three bosses, Deathtanz Mantisk admittedly is more tricky than actually difficult, due to having a number of different attacks that have the same start-up animations and being very quick on executing them. I already recorded the missile video so expect that tomorrow.
Man, MMZ 3 really does have some kickin rad tunes, as does MMZ 4. Too bad I can't remember what MMZ 4 sounds like.
Also Timestones I don't know if you have it yet but one of the thunderchip related EX skills goes right through Mantisk's blocks and allows you to totally wail on him. Mantisk is easily the most unpredictable boss in MMZ 3 though, but if you stay basically in the middle you can avoid most of his stuff.

Oh, what. I have very clear, very loud game audio, but my commentary is completely and utterly drowned out by it. I don't know why the game music's so clear, either. I think I may just re-record because WOW, I have no idea what the hell happened. Maybe that's my punishment for being procrastination-y.
EDIT: Okay, I've done the stages all over again and such and the commentary's audible. Admittedly, that may make it poorer rather than better. :P I'm uploading now.

True enough. I learned this during the boss rush when I ran into the wall known as Mantisk. Seriously, it took me less time to figure out how to beat the last two bosses than it did to beat Mantisk without taking forever.
......... I should of kept my damn mouth shut. Infinity Mijinion trainwreck, Succesful attempts #1 and #2 with audio/video sync getting screwed over are now in the process of uploading. Complete with William Shatner dialouge readings, apathetic commentary, and a metric ton of swearwords. I'm doing an intermission video tommrow. Fuck X6 in the fucking hellhole the game was fucking made in.

3 out of 4 ain't bad.
Sins of a Solar Empire. It brings One More Turn Syndrome in real-time.

I'm so sorry I asked. I had actually repressed that memory of a game I truly enjoyed. Though it does make the joke really funny now. Thanks.
