I've never seen it in motion, but screenshots look like 3d renders for a technical demo or something. They remind me of the sort of 3d you'd see in mid 90s PC CD-ROM games, just more advanced. Its unnatural looking.

There are also no shadows under it. Which doesn't help.
What sort of armour quest was that? Class quest? All I got from Freeport so far was mismatched chainmail with about half as many stats as the things you get in the new zones. <.<
Every class gets a set of armor from quests around level 21. Its not the best stuff and I really just got it for my appearance slot. Right now I have the level 22 rare metal crafted armor on for stats but it looks dumb so I cover it up with this.
As for the shadows, yeah my shadows go out sometimes. I don't know why. I think it has something to do with the way shadows are handled in EQ2 sometimes its fine and they are all there and sometimes they just go away completely. If I reload the game they come back on. I actually did not notice they were not on when I took the screens till someone pointed it out.
I personally think that armor looks great. It does have texture if you look at it and its not just a flat poly with a texture over it like all the armor in WoW. Yeah its not that fancy but hey its only level 20 stuff. It looks just nice enough that I am happy to use it but not so nice that it looks like I eat epics for breakfast yet.
I always feel like I am defending EQ2 but I guess thats what you do when you like a game. Right now they are working on replacing the skeletal system for the game which will allow them to do fancy stuff with the armor. As it stands right now there is no standard model for resizing the armor. So with all the different races that can be any class they have to manually resize the armor for every race. Because of this what you find is quite a bit of repainted armor through the levels and really not a ton of things that look unique. Once they get the new system in place it is set up to auto resize the armor so they can spend more time making unique looking stuff with a ton less load on peoples computers. You would only have to load one type of armor in the memory even if there were 24 berserkers of different races with the same set of armor standing in front of you. As it is now thats 24 different armor sets it has to load.
Leave my hair alone I like it the way it is!
Have you looked at games from the 90's..... it does not look anything like this. I think you are remembering those games with rose colored glasses if you think they looked as good as this.
The "it looks like stuff from the '90s" argument is based more on art direction (or lack thereof) more than literal technical resemblance. The early days of 3D gaming were plagued with games whose designers thought that all it took to look cool was 3D graphics, not realizing that at least some degree of art direction was necessary. Unfortunately, a lot of us are reminded that such people still work in the industry when we look at EQ2.
Nah, what they mean is, the character looks pre-rendered, thanks to being high poly with a clean texture, giving it that "glossy, solid colour" look.
Hmm, how do you cover one armor up with another? And are these class set quests just random quests, or a quest line?
My less ugly than before, but still ugly, level 22 set.

I think it's at level 20 that you get a set of "appearance" armor slots in your character screen. Anything you equip there is for looks only, your regular armor set is what will give you stat bonuses. It obviously helps avoid a clashing/piecemeal look.
The armor quests (AQ) are class-specific questlines from an NPC in your starting city.
Here's two screens of my EQ2 level 30 Froglok Fury in her AQ armor for comparison. Remember, the AQ stuff is low-level armor, so it's not flashy. In fact, that's probably one of EQ2's biggest problems in terms of the perception of its graphics: the armor looks... normal. The wood and stone textures look... normal. They took the "realistic fantasy" look a bit too far, losing a lot of flash and personality in the process. But eh, it's a game, I don't play it to admire its graphics.

I'd love to see Blizzard [strike]steal[/strike] borrow that appearance slot idea. I want to keep wearing my witch hat without having to pass up better headgear.

That would be the greatest idea ever. If Blizzard ever did this, I would love WoW once again.

What is the appearance slot?
I keep suggesting on the forums a footlocker or somethign to keep outfits and clothing in that you want to keep for various reasons because there is no way in hell I am throwing away or selling my .05 rogue set of armour

It was discribed on the previous page, in EQ2, you gain a second set of armor slots that will override the "look" of that part of your character, but you won't gain any of the stat bonuses from the items, just the look.
For example, I can wear the T6 headpiece in my normal headslot, but have a witch hat in my appearance headslot, I'll gain the stats from the T6, but It'll look like I'm wearing the witch hat.

Blizz won't do this because a big thing with their character/armor design is focused on that it's recognizable from relatively far away. Having a "costume" slot would defeat that.

Yea, ... Blizz needs to patch that in yesterday.
Oh sweet Jeebus that would be the single greatest drawing point for me to forever lose myself in WoW. If I could wear my tanking set and not look like a clown who couldn't afford a matching costume I would be so happy.
And yes, I am that guy who would get the full 60 honor gear set so my tankadin looks like a Blood Knight.
Actually it could work rather easily, obviously that feature would have to be disabled on pvp servers, but for anything else whenever you flag you'll take on the look of your actual gear again. Its like this in LotRO, if a player character goes into the Ettenmoors, which is where the player versus monster player stuff happens you'll have the look of your real gear.

Yeah, it's very important to look like a color-blind parrot at level 60.

(Linked for the biggitude.)
A mix of Eisen (normal quality) and Kamph (high quality) armor for level 29 Warriors and Paladins.
chair to Creation and then suplex the Void.
Can you dualwield in CoH now? Can't really remember how the old blade scrapper worked.
Man, I'm getting an urge to try CoX again.
I've only just gotten back in. It looks like you can chain attacks to give you all sorts of secondary effects.
