Ladies and gentlemen, I present now, the WORST. CoH. COSTUME. EVAR.

Eh, that's not so bad. Reminds me of any cloth wearer who made it to Outland in WoW.

Really? Is the Illidan Tier Faux-Six tanking helm particularly good for pallies? I dunno, I've just always had an aversion to +Block Value for tankadins...

All these awesome CoX screenshots make me want to resub. I have some great concepts in mind that would probably be a lot of fun to make.

Unfortunately the gameplay does nothing for me.

Gameplay solo is pretty meh in CoX, but solo is pretty meh in all games really.
What's fantastic about CoX is when you do missions on hard difficulty with lots of people, and very little to no crowd control. Then it's huge rape fests, and you're never sure who's going to be the ones doing the raping and getting raped. The difference in one type of boss or lt, could fuck your whole group over and barely survive. Or you could have chaotic battles, and have bodies flying all over. With numbers pouring from every direction, pretty much blocking your screen.

Or you could play WoW (which I play and enjoy) where you CC as many as possible.. and pull one at a time... and try to find the "perfect" group to get things done. :\ Really CoX has probably the funnest group play in any MMO I've ever played. Both tanking and healing can be extremely fun in that game, something that isn't usually said about other MMO's.

If I could drag my friends away from WoW and into CoX I'd be very happy. But they are so set on this stupid idea that MMO's have to be about progression, and boss kills, and uber loot to seperate them from others, that I just can't get them to go to a game, that's played because it's fun. Not because it has the shiniest goose to chase.

Obviously it has its uses, but I don't know that I'd ever seek it outside of a max-mitigation setup -- the AoE trash that is a Protadin's bread-and-or-butter shouldn't be hitting you hard enough that you have to sacrifice +dmg for BV [and really, the two are almost mutually-exclusive on most pieces].

    My same exact reason.

I'm not really happy unless I can take on three or more guys at a time, plus a lot more in a group. That and the combat needs to have some weight to it.

That's great but if it's anything like the combat I experienced in WoW, it would be like watching someone swinging (swiping) a pinata.

Anyway this is a screenshot thread and i will not sully it (further) with my bitching.

    Heh, thanks.

I can't wait to mid august when I get the trenchcoat vet reward. I was thinking of doing a more "modern" version of him.

red trenchcoat, black body armor under, maybe lose the fedora and just have a face mask, use that wicked looking composite bow with the laser sight, something like that.

If you look, he's already wearing Red/Black on the bottom outfit (he has knee-high black leather boots too), and yes I know its a horribly cliche color set, but what else goes well with red?

This is basically what I was thinking of, except with a trench coat (though the scarf doesn't look too bad), I also threw in the alternate color suggestions, and it does look better than it would red/black.

    they do

it involves going to paragon city, blowing up some statues to get the attention of a hero, beating them up, and taking their cape as proof of your worth to lord recluse, after which you are allowed to wear a cape

Same here...the backlash from my "CoX gameplay is boring" comment made me remember the good times. I made a Fire/Rad Corruptor last night...

    Also wrote a ridiculous bio....
Walther Polk was just your average miltech engineer, toiling away in some underground lab. Following in the foot steps of earlier projects, he designed a mechanized armor suit/weapons suite. The hermetically sealed outer shell is impervious to heat and radiation, allowing the unit to be powered by a mini-reactor without harming the user. However, anyone outside the suit can be subjected to lethal doses of radiation. The suit is capable of focusing this energy to the point where it can cause a target to spontaneously combust. Due to the complexity of the weapons system, an AI was designed to operate them after being activated by thought.

During initial testing, a mechanical error prevented the suit from becoming fully sealed before the reactor came online. Polk was subjected to a mega dose of radiation that nearly killed him, leaving him practically brain dead. Life support systems were keeping him functionally alive, but in a vegetative state. Upon realizing its operator was incapacitated, an undocumented feature of the AI took over and went into survival mode. Without FoF definitions, it classified the soldiers of the base trying to stop it from escaping as enemies. Now Faulty Unit tears across the land, bent on destruction, taking Walther Polks body along for the ride.

That's right, I'm necro-Ironman with a questionable origin story. Fear me.

CoX is best as a side game, a few hours here and there when you have nothing else important to do. Some people even use it as a secondary MMO and just cancel their main mmo for a month here and there.

How do you like the 39 bracket? I absolutely hate the 19 bracket, and generally stick to 29 because it's the most active after 19. I'm thinking 39 would be a lot better and more active now with mounts. Because while it's still a bit of a grind up to 39.. it's better than 49!

Well, I used "bracket" merely meaning "range". None of these characters have zoned into any BG. Three are 30, one is 35.

Training is cheaper as well, if someone brings up the level 30 mounts in trade channel they get barraged with people complaining about it, it's pretty great.
