"I worked hard to get to level 40, and they should have to as well."
I shit you not, that is the most common complaint.
That's /always/ the complaint when something gets made easier. It's a multiversal thing; I'm sure even sentient nebulae floating in space come up with the same complaint when this happens.
Seriously? Man, I've been gone like, two months and they change something like that already?
Would it have made more sense if they had waited until six months after you left? :P
Anyway, I never understood why it was always 40. There's the obvious yet suspicious explanation of "longer grind to get first mount ---> more time on-foot ---> longer amount of time it takes to get places ---> more time your account needs to be active ---> more $$ in the long-run for Blizzard." I still like the idea of getting a mount at level ten, then having the speed scale up as you level. But I see why they like the mount being something to work towards and being your characters first real accomplishment.
But my first character to get a mount was my Paladin, and since the paladin "quest" to get the initial mount is literally: Talk to NPC. Talk to other NPC 10 feet away from first NPC. Woohoo mount. So I didn't even have to grind to get it in the first place. But I've done it with other characters, and it's not the pinnacle of achievements in WoW like these "You dern kids! Back in mah day!" people are making it out to be.
As for the people who think Blizzard is "making the game easier", shut the fuck up. That comment above everything else just makes me want to reach through my screen and choke the person who typed it. "WTG BLIZ NOW THER"S NO CHALLINGE IN WORLD OF EZMODECRAFT LULZ", World of Warcraft is not hard. It never was. Stop pretending like you're a hardcore badass for trudging through ever-growing difficulties of vanilla WoW only to have washed away by the combination of The Burning Crusade and the new players that came with it. I've been playing this game since January 23rd of 2005, that's two months to the date of the initial launch of the game, and even back then the game was "easier" than previous MMOs.
WoW has it's challenges, it does. And I'm not saying every aspect of the game could be performed by a quadrapalegic kangaroo with one eye, but bragging that you got your mount at 40 in comparison to 30 isn't one of said challenges. People won't be lining up to get your autograph because you got your mount "back when it was hard".

Not to mention the amount of begging for 40g has gone up by a million percent. I was outside IF dueling a friend, to test his new spec, and roughly 4 level 30s showed up asking us all for 40g. We simply had to tell them to go out and quest and use their professions to their advantage.
"Can i borrow 40g for my goat?" = when one of them said this I giggled.
"i need 40 gold please"
"i need a mount help please"
Oh lord that is delicious. Blizzard needs to let us use that tool to color our gear immediately. I don't care if I have to pay some gold, I want different colored armor.
I'm not saying you need to give up WoW, I'm saying you should give WAR a try when it comes out because it is holycrapawesomefeaturepackedrichlovelyWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!

It's not hard, it's just time. And for those who think this takes a huge chunk of time, they probably never played RO. Or, if they did, they played on private super-leveling-speed servers.

But doesn't have faerie candymancers.
Look, we both know those are probably going back in for the first expansion. The Twizzler Strike is too much fun to be utterly left out as a mechanic, and Sour Patch Kaltrops are the finest idea had in the history of gaming, and possibly mankind.

i was at the mount vendor buying my mount and some 31 warrior asked me for 3g for his mount.
First time i recorded history i have ever given money to a beggar.
That is flipping awesome. I have no ideas about color theory or any of that...it's all mumbo-jumbo as far as I'm concerned. This actually makes things easy for an idiot like me.

Yeah, because 99% of people wouldn't go for black armor or bright pink armor.

But black armor with pink accents and you've got something else altogether.

For example, you can color the little straps on your armor one color, and the little Sigmarite symbols another!
It's amazing!
But I'm still not playing until they let me play a skaven. Even if they don't exist. Or are just beast men.
The pet should say things.
Like this:
"Fool! You have just ensured the doom of this world. You cannot even begin to imagine what you've set in motion this day. Go to the Temple of Light, in the eastern ciry of Kurast. "Stay a while and listen!!"
And everyone could hear it where ever I am, I'd probably get a lot more pvp action heh.
Fix'd
That'd be most awesome.
