Has anyone worked on one of these? I want to reseat the sound card but I have no idea how to go about finding it.

It's not showing up in the device manager, and the sound app in the control panel shows no active audio devices to choose from.

I'm guessing that the "sound card" is integrated into the laptop's motherboard. Here's a link to disassembling a T30, if you want to poke around.

If it just stopped working, I would see if you can disable/re-enable it in BIOS.

Can't seem to find anything audio related in the BIOS. Any other suggestions? Or should I resign myself to trying to take this thing apart? It's not my laptop so I'm a bit hesitant to take it to pieces :)

Unfortunately, since it is most likely on-board sound, you are not going to find anything by taking it apart. Anything you can fix, anyway. If you can't find a software solution, and this person MUST have sound, I would suggest a PCMCIA sound card, or something like that. However, I doubt that an external soundcard will work with the laptops internal speakers, without some ugly wiring fix.

Have you tried reinstalling the audio drivers? Actually, could you say what the problem/symptoms you're having are? What are you trying to fix by "reseat(ing) the sound card"?

If the hardware for the audio has really failed, I'd go for usb headphones since they have sound cards built into them.
