Is anybody else getting this obnoxious Steam bug where half the games, including TF2, will just disappear from the Games list and I can't play them until I restart Steam? It's been going on for a while now and it's seriously getting on my nerves.
Yes, I am too. However, I'm also getting the (don't know if it is a bug) "downloading" message and it is stuck at 99% for longer than it should. If I restart Steam then that too, goes away.
This happens for various games and there aren't any new updates listed in Steam.

Happens sporadically to me. Some nights I won't be able to play because the games/favorites lists won't refresh properly or will just be blank altogether. Sometimes restarting Steam works, sometimes I'll need to go into Task Manager and totally shut down Steam. Sometimes nothing will fucking help and I'll go to bed without playing TF2.
EDIT: Also, Half-Life 2: Deathmatch is infinitely on 0% Downloaded. I didn't even want it and I always cancel it. But it's like scorched on my games list for eternity.
Oh, I also realized that if you have Steam on two different computers - lets say a desktop and laptop (a frind of mine ;-)) And you log onto Steam on your desktop last. then you take your laptop somewhere out of town where there is no signal and just want to play HL or such.... Steam locks you out until you log back into Steam where there is signal.
And I agree... a night without TF2 is a tragic night indeed.

I tried using Cl_Interp and its made me laggier. I'm usually sitting on a high ping (Usually 200-300) on Job server but tonight on Jonxp's I was lagging a crapload. I tried using interp at .3, but it really fucked the game up more
Our offense on dust wasn't good enough apparently. So failure is our fault not his. We didn't do a coordinated push, but meh who cares. It was cool seeing 3 teleporters up in the side room. Also when the room got sapped to crap being able to rebuild it in 45 seconds.

well if he acts like that on job's server he's banned. so if you read this thread banyon, take note.
also edcrab, post the screenshot at the end of the match! and we didn't really unite against you, you were just so oblivious near the end. like vivi who kept going to the same spot and getting stabbed.
that news post was obviously poorly worded. they showed the 4 medic achievements and the other 32 will be for the other 8 classes, also 4 each. that's the only thing that makes sense, even if the news post said 36 medic achievements.
Medics don't need 36 achievements. For fuck's sake they've already got the Bonesaw. What more could they want?

I wouldn't call me oblivious, it's just that the spies (and scouts, in Ash's case) really exploited me when I was distracted. Dared try to take on a soldier? Stabbed. Tried to take out a pesky spy? Stabbed by the one behind me. Just tried to walk? Suddenly, from out of fucking nowhere, damnable Ash-Housewares drops in and blows me to pieces with his scattergun...
You know, it's funny how sometimes I'll be on top of the score sheets and have a Nemesis on the botton end of the other team and a bunch of Dominations on the top of the other team.
This only happens when I'm a Medic. And usually that Nemesis is like a Spy or Sniper who's only gotten points off of me doing stupid things.

anyway, Engineer is ridiculously fun to play as a combat class. Shotgun is all a man needs to survive on the front line.

So hey, I have Vista too. I've tracked some of the problems down to Media Center updating itself for no reason.
I recently tried vista and TF2 runs like ass and by that I mean there is a 15 to 20 FPS diff between vista and xp (and thats with TF2 running on higher settings in XP than VISTA) running on a 7800 GT. I think it has something to do with Vista and Nforce4 or maybe Nforce mobos in general as I've done some googling and quite a few people are having similar results.

How odd...I was playing on Job's server, and a bunch of things were replaced with black squares. Nemesis icons, player icons, the letter G...my whole screen when I ubercharged. How odd. Oh, and to whoever said it was a "new feature" when I pointed it out in chat: har bloody har.
Managed to get a coupla kills in, which was nice. I imagine being killed by a medic must be pretty embarrasing. I'm thinking of making a custom spray that says in big black letters "Some chump got wasted by a Medic here" Or would that count as offensive?

Please add this steamID to all PA ban lists. This is the guy that joined the server as a civilian and just wasted a slot on a full server being an asshat. Not bad in itself, but when called out repeatedly, he just kept it up.
I will say now that if after this ID is banned, and Flippy or Edcrab, etc, post on here about not being able to log onto a PA server.. I will deficate hardened clay conglomerate in block form.
