For real. People only talk about how much it sucks cause they always get killed by them. Wake up guys, I can literally think of plenty of times i was cloaked and disguised and not seen at all, and then getting hit by a crit rocket allll thee wayyy across granary. Sure, it sucks when you get critted, but it's also pretty fuckin rad when you kill 3-4 guys from one rocket. Buck up and practice, that way you'll get more crits :)

Now: Let's talk more about how hunted should be made.

I want to play Team Fortress 2 without critical hits, and I do play Team Fortress 2 without critical hits. That's... hardly a different game entirely. Especially considering that removing critical hits can be achieved through a server-side plug-in.

I get pissed getting hit by a crit rocket from a mile away, both the shot and the splash damages. But I take comfort in the fact that I probably also piss people off with crit flames and sticky grenades.

Sounds like a lot of people just want TO PLAY A DIFFERENT FUCKING GAME.

Or they should play soldier more. I get pissed about the crits until I remember how many I have fired in my 30+ hours of soldier. :P

I still think melee sd was the shit. Sd is usually really boring, especially if you die early, and then you just wait around. With melee sd, everyone just charged forward, thirsting for blood, and the round usually ended in about a minute or so.

The TGL (Total Gaming League; I've never heard of them, nor should you have, unless you're a pro-gamer, pro-gamer, hahahaha, basement-dwelling pro-gamer) have laid out their rules on acceptable league Medic play. Activating an Übercharge then saving it for later use by switching weapons is legal. Extending an Übercharge by continuously cycling weapons is an exploit.

I say fie to the Medic-haters at the Total Gaming League. I shall extend my single-target Übercharges to fifteen seconds, and I shall do so with my head held high. And my palm held high, too, so that I may bring my unbridled, open-palmed fury down upon any who shall cry before me.

I wanted to through my opinion around again, as the originator of the first rally cry against crits in this thread (or was it the last one). I've always felt that any joy I get out of my random crits was far over-shadowed by the frustration of their use against me. Not only that, but I (improbably) feel guilty when I one shot some poor shmuck I never even saw because of suppressive rocket fire crits. Add to this my belief that I would've killed the guy anyway without the crit and you start to see the full breadth of the argument. But as we all know by now, it doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of things. Things are the way they are.

I'd also like to comment on how much opinion on the matter has changed since I first took up arms against it. I was known as the annoying-crit-complaining guy for a while before I decided not to play as much and thus not care to the same degree. Back then, I was the only person who felt (at least strongly enough to vocalize it) their annoying tendencies outweighed the benefits. I had a feeling things would change as time rolled on. If you interested, I presented a number of ways the system could be overhauled in order to soften their apparent effect on personal gameplay experience while maintaining their bunker-busting role.

I don't think that phrase implies that it improves tactical play, just that upon a situation of staleness, such as steamrolling or stalemate, a crit run can move the game in a different direction. I can't count the number of times I have been able to hold back a rush with crits, or cleared a cap with crits.

Also, long range crits should not be nerfed. If anything, long range hit should be rewarded with crit because what are the chances someone hasn't moved out of the way, and if you've been led by a long distance rocket, kudos to the soldier. Catching a rocket as you roll around a corner is a lame way to die, but I still laugh when it happens to me.

Also, if I ever swear, it's because I grew up on a farm and when my father went to talk to the neighbourhood farmers, fuck, fucking and bloody were nouns, verbs and adjectives in normal calm conversation.
