Archos AV500 and other MP3/Media Players

Has the Technology sub-forum vanished now or am I just being blind?
Anyway, for Christmas I've decided to get my girlfriend an Archos AV500. She keeps complaining she's running out of space on her 8gb Sony MP3 player and it's been playing up on her anyway. She's a big fan of musicals and has hundreds of CDs she'd like to carry around with her, when I mentioned I was thinking of getting her an mp3 player she said the most important thing was space. So I've opted for a 60gb model.
She spends a lot of time on public transport too, and waiting around in college so I figured the video playback of this model would be a big bonus.
Has anyone any experience with this player? Have I just wasted my money? Should I have consulted this forum first? Is it WAY too big to be carrying around in a coat pocket (It's quite slim but a bit longer and wider than a normal mp3 player from the pics)? How's copying music to and from the player? How's the interface on the player? Anything I should of gone for instead (I got this one "as new, never opened" from an online ebay store)?
