Meh, its my little collection, and playign slowly helps me enjoy the game more. If I get this done in my lifetime then well and good, otherwise, I'll bury these games with me in my crypt.

If you keep collecting at that rate though, your backlog could be in the 4 digit area by the time you retire. There's no way you'll have time for all those old games. By that time, you'll have 138 versions of Harvest Moon.

Provided that I still buy games. Of course, during that time, I probably won't be working or when I have a family, my game buying will become a trickle, so I think I'll be safe from 138 versions of Harvest Moon.

As a fellow owner of at least 6 Harvest Moon Games (not counting ones I have owned and traded)...

You can NEVER own too many Harvest Moon games.

    NEVER.

Except for Innocent Life on PSP. that one was ass and does not deserve to be called Harvest Moon.

It's very overwhelming. Italics are games I only played for 5-10 minutes. Bold have never even been played... I was just looking at a bunch of shit I own while contemplating whether or not to buy Catan, Castlevania, and Marathon on XBLA and being indecisive because of how many books and video games I have bought and barely touched.

Nowadays, I buy games and beat them but when I was younger, I used to never finish games... I only beat FF7 and MGS1 this year when I finally overcame this "problem". But going back to a lot of these games, even the "great" ones seems like such a daunting task... O_o

I'm fairly certain I post this every backlog thread, but my strategy is to make a list of the games I want to play, and restrict myself to buying only those games. I also resolved to only buy a game when I finish one I already have, and then I restrict myself to buying whatever I can find that's on the list cheapest.

It prevents backlogs from becoming money sinks, and means I don't buy games for full price when, by the time I would actually get around to playing them, they're available budget or used for a quarter of the price.

If I hold myself to buying the cheapest thing on the list, I also tend to prune it more ruthlessly, because I drop games for which my enthusiasm has waned, which is good proof against getting caught up in hype.

So far I've yet to complete:

    Bioshock
    Dead Rising
Super Mario Galaxy (60/120 stars. It's really fun, but for some reason I can't bring myself to get the last 60 stars)
    Resident Evil 4
    Skies of Arcadia Legends
    Call of Duty 2
    Half Life 2/Ep. 1/Ep. 2
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater

If I don't finish a game within the first week or two of purchasing, it never gets finished.

I'm not even going to bother posting my backlog. It is too depressingly huge due to...

    1. The fact that I have an almost 3-year old, which leaves me precious little time to game. Despite this, I still buy games when they come out like they were bottled water and a hurricane was coming. Utter the words "hard to find" and I MUST own it!
    2. Fucking online gaming. Damn you, WoW, the BF series, and Hellgate!
    3. Cheapass Gamer - deals to good to pass up. I'm saving money, honest!
    4. Target's clearance rack. They have some seriously good deals. STALKER for $7? Yes, please!

I easily have 50-75 games I need to beat. Used to be I'd clear my backlog when I was off work for the summer. My daughter, with all of her unreasonable demands to be "parented," "fed," and "changed" have dampened that.

I love the lil' punk. I take solace in the fact that a few years down the road, we'll be able to play shit together. She gets the crappy old computer, though!

I'm with the guys who won't post their backlogs. I know good and well that I have an incredibly large pile of games, yet.. I go out each month and buy at least four more to stack ontop of the ones I already have.

All I can do is look on in dread as my backlog gets bigger.. and bigger.. Plus. I have a buy only, no trade policy. If I get it, I keep it forever.

Good greif.. just looking at all of my Xbox 360 games is a bit much... And I just bought a PS3 last week.. and then there's my Wii on the side.. and...WoW... :x

I still got games I bought from 2006 in my backlog. Work sucks. They give me lots of hours so I get a ton of money to spend on this stuff and no time to play it. And I can't stop playing Mass Effect!

Puzzle Quest - Forget where I am but I'm stupid and bought the Xbox Live version as well
    Contact - Military base maybe?

Zelda: Phantom Hourglass - Got the upgraded sword

    Gamecube:
Zelda: Wind Waker - Barely started
Super Mario Sunshine - Barely started
Resident Evil 4 - Bought and stopped playing due to others games then the Wii version came out
Metroid Prime - I might be close to the final boss
    Metroid Prime 2 - Didn't start
Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes - Didn't start
    Paper Mario - Totally forgot

    PS2:
Bully - I think I'm in the final season

skate. - Need to skate more?
Assassin's Creed: Need to assassinate more?
Splinter Cell: Double Agent - Blew up a boat I think
Earth Defense Force - Need to save earth

    Wii:
    Red Steel - Who cares?
Call of Duty 3 - Eh.
    Elebits - Need more zap
Manhunt 2 - Sorry but this comment has been censored
Metroid Prime 3 - Aw I was having fun but Halo 3 distracted me
Resident Evil 4 - See gamecube version...I beat this but it's too good not to be played every so often

    Virtual Console (Damn you Nintendo):
    Super Mario Bros.
Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels
    Super Mario Bros. 3
Super Mario World - Gilder played these for me!
Metroid - I can't jump back up after killing Kraid
Super Metroid - Aw I was having fun and Metroid Prime 3 distracted me
Zelda - I got a bunch of triforce
Zelda II - Brought this to a friends house and we took turns playing...it's too freakin' hard
Zelda: Link to the Past - Dark world
Zelda: Ocarina of Time - Deku tree
    Paper Mario - Didn't start
Super Mario 64 - Maybe like 16 stars
Sin & Punishment - Did the tutorial
Donkey Kong Country 2 - I played the second level for the music

Just thinking of my entire list makes me cry. It so big. So instead of listing the entire list, I'll list the big ones I really want to play over the next few months:

    PS2:
    Persona 3
    Rogue Galaxy

    PSP:
Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions
    Okami
    Patapon (now playing)
    Silent Hill: Origins
Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus
    SOCOM: Tactical Strike

    DS:
    Final Fantasy III
    Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings

I'm hoping to have at least finished half of them by the time MGS4 comes out in June.

I don't have a huge backlog, because I don't have enough money to own a backlog, because like I've complained about before, games cost the world here. But I do have a few. The next two Sam & Max games for the PC, Metroid Prime 3 and finishing Galaxy (I got up to the final boss and then just stopped). Doesn't help that I've just rediscovered Neverwinter Nights. And if I had the money or the time, I only just bought a DS, so there's a whole bunch of games I need for that.

Now that I'm back from my crazy-busy first semester of college, I've been spending the first three days basically just playing and progressing in some of my older video games.

-Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin -- Almost done

-The Orange Box -- got the Orange Box a couple of months ago, and I'm actually replaying the original HL2 single player so I can feel more connected to Episodes 1 and 2, when I get to them. I also played through most of Portal, and had some fun with Team Fortress 2

-Okami: My brother and I have been taking turns playing this ever since we first got it. Still haven't beat it yet. =/ I've looked at some walkthroughs to see how far we are, and it looks we still have a ways to go. Dang, this seems like a long game...
We're currently collecting ingredients for the imp chef in the Moon Cave. The last brush technique we got was the wind one.

I looked back at a backlog post I made someplace else in March of this past year... A lot of the games on that list still haven't been completed. =P I really don't care about some games anymore, but there are others that I feel like I want to get my money's worth out of them more, and there are some also that I'm so close to beating I just want to complete them already.

Some of these other games include Super Mario Galaxy, Ninja Gaiden DS, Final Fantasy Tactics Advance...

I've actually been pretty good about the backlog this year, or at least beating games in general, which has always been a problem for me. I've beaten:
    Baten Kaitos
    BK: Origins
    PA: Ep 1 and 2
    HL:Ep 1
    Beyond Good and Evil
    Fire Emblem: PoR
    Twilight Princess
    Harvey Birdman
    Fallout 3
and probably some other stuff I forgot at the beginning of the year.

I'm still slogging through a bunch of rpg's though, hopefully I'll beat at least one more by the end of the year:
    Mario rpg (just started)
    Disgaea
FF: Tactics (apparently neither of these two work with the ps2 component cables.)
    Tales of Symphonia
    FF12
    Secret of Mana

It took me too long to realize that I should be a lot more careful about buying RPGs, at least if I care about ever getting very far in them. I mean, I like a lot of things about RPGs, but the time I feel like I need to invest to really enjoy them (and to "get my money's worth") is just too much sometimes. I've had to just accept that there are some RPGs that I have that I will probably never complete...

Any game that is more action-oriented, and can be played for short bursts at a time (or maybe not short bursts at a time, but the difficulty is not too high), and has something else that is charming/amusing/appealing/FUN about it, to keep me motivated to play it...that's the type of game I need these days.
