    I'm not arguing with him.

I'm merely explaining that his opinion has no bearing on my own. And dismissing him.

i mean i'm just not seeing why you're maintaining that the game is broken despite the fact that you have not played it and people who have did not find the bugs to be much of an issue

Because I have heard from a trusted source that it contains bugs that just completely crash it. Those types of bugs should not exist AT ALL. And it's not even "oh you have a bad video driver" or some shit because it's a console game.
I think your trusted source might be wrong.

Scratch that, I know your trusted source is wrong.

Seriously. This is a game I've played almost literally non-stop since I got it.

How many crashes have I had with it? At least those that I can't blame on my unit's semi-defective DVD drive.

    Zero.

It's my anecdotal evidence against his, brah.

The Orange Box has crashed more often. And that's freaking Valve.

The game autosaves like every ten minutes, and the bug is really extremely rare.

I am more of a casual gamer at this point but some of my favorite moments of the year are the last level of halo 3 (fuck you if you didn't think that warthog ride was fun) and watching replays of the ridiculous shots my friends and I make in rocket race.

Also Portal especially with people "helping" you.

I've logged over 100 hours of mass effect and have encountered not a single game breaking bug

hell, i can only remember even one game inconveniencing glitch, i got hung up on some scenery for like 5 seconds

and sure, the texture popin is bad, but not 30 seconds bad, that is a gross exaggeration

it's no worse than any other game using the unreal 3 engine

(which bioware did not program, so i don't think it's fair to give them heat for it)

i mean, seriously, i see all these totally fabricated and retarded criticisms of mass effect, and meanwhile noone grabs onto the big and obvious ones

inventory management is clunky, sidequests are all basically the same thing, there are only three building plans in sidequests so you visit the same 3 buildings with different furniture over and over again, the renegade/paragon system is a bit shallower than it seems, your alignment score only really affects your maximum ranks in your conversation skills

and even given those issues, it still manages to be the most engaging game i've played possibly ever

a guy i know told me that the thief games will kill your videocard if you play them for more them ten minutes

he also said that that the art assets were all plagieurised and the gameplay is basically just mashing a single button as fast as you can

yeah, it's pretty hilarious how broadly the term game programmer is thrown around

writing a graphics engine or creating textures doesn't give a dude more qualification to talk about design and balance than any average jackoff

that's like lecturing at length about being an astronaut because you fill up the space shuttle with fuel

i am going through the year thinking of what i would call for this sort of crap based on what i have played is probably TFC2

i cannot for the life of me remember anything good coming out the first 6 months of the year, i just remember playing Oblivion over and over and over and X-Com over and over and over

oh yea, Catan online was pretty good

I got stuck just once and had to use a grenade to damn near kill myself to jar myself loose. The only other bug I've encountered was some how Wrex got killed AND knocked over a railing and effectively off the map, leaving me without an ally until I hopped into an elevator where he magically reappeared.

Only problem I have with it is that the pathing on your team mates is terrible. And doors don't seem to open for them. And all other complaints aside, it was a bit short. I didn't collect every single mineral/gas or all of the writings/data tags/insignias, but that is not something that appeals to me so there ya go. I do how ever, plan on doing a play through on every class. So far, being a Vanguard has been the most fun, but Soldier has been the easiest.

I apparently have to pick up CoD4 eventually. I played through the Crysis demo but I think it melted something in my computer so I exited out rather quickly.

edit: The few complaints I had about Mass Effect have pretty much resolved themselves. I have even found a space in my heart for Carth/Kaiden.
