A "What to do?" Thread *sigh*

Aight so, if you missed the last thread i made, it was about this girl and all. Well now that it is all kind of said and done, i really find myself trying to ...do things.

And before i go on, i am very sorry for making another one of these threads, but most of the replies in those threads really dont pertain to who i am. so on we go.

I used to be into PC games like a mofo. I was in 2 leagues for CS:S, guild leader + raid leader for WoW, etc etc. I mean, that used to be ME. Now, i really have no ambition to even touch my computer. The only purpose i have for it now is checking comics, forums, and listening to music while i do OTHER things around the apartment.

So, i guess the PC is...phased for for me, at least for the time being.

I have a full-time job that i hate, but i dont make enough money to go to school or anything. I know you are thinking Student Loans, but i am not good at school enough to keep that loan pretty low. And to be honest, right now i really cant afford to having MORE debts on my mind.

I want to become a cop. I plan on training for that again, so i guess i have that going for me. But going to the gym for an hour a day REALLY wont be sufficient for me.

And i am being compeltely honest when i say i have NO other hobbies. Seriously, ive been on my PC for my entire life, and now not having the ambition to be on it anymore is killing me.

Dont be confused with this as being a "help me find motivation to be on my pc lolz!" thread, because i really dont want it to take over my life again.

tl;dr: i no longer want to be on my PC...the driver of my life. What the HELL do i do now?

I realize that this kind of information is VERY unique for person to person, but im hoping SOMEONE will say SOMETHING to spark ...SOMETHING for me. desperation!

I really don't know what to tell you except ask what kinds of things spark your interest?

Some people enjoy hunting, some enjoy hiking, I enjoy really nerdy hobbies like Magic: The Gathering and Dungeons & Dragons.

I mean, what did you do BEFORE the computer came into your life? Has it always been there? Do you enjoy books, libraries, camping, shooting things, painting, what?

I have an idea as to your interests since you played video games pretty heavily, I'm just looking for some more information.

you tell us several things you would like to do but then you list excuses as to why you can't do them. An hour a day at the gym isn't enough? So start going for more than an hour a day. Stop making excuses.

Why do you want to become a cop? The answer to that is going to provide a lot of answers to your other questions.

edit: that came out as some kind of BS philisophical kind of statement. I meant it like this. Do you want to be a cop because you think it's the only thing open to you that pays half decent, or do you want to be a cop because you've always wanted to be a cop and you think it could make you happy?

Yeah, start spending two hours a day at the gym. Take up mountain biking, hiking, running, racquetball, anything else physical that will help get you in shape. Buy a pistol, start going down to the gun range (I suggest this because you say you want to be a cop). Start taking a martial art (again, if you want to be a cop...).

    Thanks for the replies!

Shooting does sound like fun, but i would have to budget out enough money to buy a pistol.

To answer why i want to be a cop: theres kind of several reasons, but here are some of the top ones:

    1. i love to drive. I wouldnt mind being in a car all day, driving or sitting. and i have no idea why.
    2. Paperwork doesnt bother me. my current job does nothing but paperwork
    3. I love guns, but i dont own any.
    4. I respect authority, and i love to help others out
    5. I will have self-respect in doing so.

Books actually sounds good. i dont know why i didnt think of that. i love Dean Koontz and i need to finish up the Hitchhiker's series.

The guitar i would like to do as well, but i dont live by myself and cant picture myself having fun with an accoustic guitar. I listen to metal, so naturally i would be inclined to play songs that i enjoy. I dunno, may be a weak excuse, but that one would need to convince me.

To answer what came before my PC: Nothing. I had my first PC and played Doom 1 the day it came out. I'm 21 years old, so do the math and i was like 10 when i got hooked. Before that, i played little league cause my parents signed me up. I dropped out due to lack of interest.

    I'm difficult =(

Definitely try martial arts, you'll feel great, self-confident, and meet plenty of new people.

Do anything outside, take walks, whatever. I get like that too, because I'm so busy and I work on a fucking computer all day, when I get home, I can hardly bring myself to play PC games anymore.

You start to get bored and tired.

I go outside, walk around, stretch my legs.

Buy a camera, take some cool photos.

Photography is a good time killer.

Take it from a person who tried out for the police academy. RUN. One of the physical tests is to benchpress your own body weight. I am a tall drink of water, at the time I was 6' 3" and weighed 220 ibs. Needless to say I failed (horribly) so weight is an issue... The running part is easy (1 mile in like 12 min give or take), you also have to do like 60 sit-ups in a minute. Good Luck, and if the unfortunate does happen and you don't pass there are always other options open.

Also for hobbies, I like to paint warhammer stuff. Its time consuming and I get a feeling of accomplishment when I am finished.

There are plenty of classic books and movies out there. Also, perhaps a club that reads or watches them. Perhaps one you can start up, get friends and craiglist/local college kids?

Also, if you prefer out doors stuff, there are probably plenty of groups that go out camping together and stuff. Or start your own? craigslist, college kids.

And..I hope you rethink being a cop. Without going too indepth, very few people will respect you and less will like you. Because of your job...And imagine the kind of people you will deal with the majority of the time.

    3. I love guns

hmm... Sounds like a good reason to become a cop...

Anyway, I second the martial arts thing, it will get you fit, and help with you if you become a cop.
