Haven't seen anything around here for this game, so I thought I'd make a thread. It looks amazing and was released today in Japan.

For those that don’t know, Lost Odyssey is an RPG made by Mistwalker for the Xbox 360.
In Lost Odyssey the player takes control of Kaim, a man who has lived for 1,000 years. The game's story revolves around the many generations of which Kaim is a part of, his loves and losses and conflicts in a world nearing a "mystical industrial revolution".
The story was written by the award winning Japanese novelist, Kiyoshi Shigematsu.
Even Nobuo Uematsu is onboard, as are other square employees.
The game will apparently come on 4 dual layer DVDs. Yes. 4

I for one, am really looking forward to it, having just picked up a 360, and not having played an RPG since Golden Sun. From the video, it looks really promising. It feels to me like that world, I will be able to get lost in. The art direction is amazing.

I give you an A for effort and taste. Also this game is bought so hard the day it hits. This despite the fact that I am only 10 hours into Blue Dragon and plan on finishing it before I dig into this game. I need to get my ass in gear.

WANTED SO HARD!
Apparently 50% of the game is FMV. That is, 20 out of 40 hours, IIRC. People going "lol xenosaga" will have a field day with this one.

Considering how much people complain about that aspect of MGS2 I fear the internet anger.
If the story is good I won't care. And if they're skippable. That really is key.
WTF? Final Fantasy 7 and 8 were that long ya tard, big freaking deal.
Games have always come out that were on multiple discs, don't act like this is some new thing.
If it was on ps3, wouldn't they have to double the data anyway, because of the slow read speed? so... 4 dual layer dvds = 8X4... so 32 gig. Wouldn't even fit on a blu-ray WITHOUT the doubling?

If you mean the video I linked, I think it is because he doesn't read Japanese.
Really, don't go down this path. I'm pretty sure it was worked out that a BR drive reading at a constant speed is as good as a DVD drive at variable rate.
FF7 and 8 were on multiple CDs, I think whoever mentioned the number of DVDs was actually remarking at the sheer number of DVDs and not the breaking up of the game over DVDs.
Sakaguchi should do something new. Jeez.
While the game is beautiful I'd really much rather play the game.
Any word of other features? Any reason to play through again or whatever?

Oh that would explain that. Then he did pretty well for not knowing what the hell he was pressing :P
other than that I really liked everything else the cutscenes loaded quick and I hope that continues throughout the game.
Haha, it was funny when he used the Mana boost when he had full mana already.
meh, in 10 years there will be a game that comes out on multiple numbers of whatever format is being used back then, which will probably something on the order of 10 or so Blu-Ray discs.
I mean, I remember when games came out on floppies, I'm used to seeing games getting bigger.
On that note I wonder how many NES cartridges it would take to put Lost Odyssey on?

Heh, exactly my thoughts too. Some of the 1UP Yours folk (probably Shane?) were dissing the game as such. But seeing how FFIV is one of my favorite FF games of all time, I don't see it as such a bad thing. If anything, it'll be amusing to look for homages to the game.
Of course, it could also be a really poor remake of FFIV too. I'm hopeful that it won't be. (I wasn't too pleased with Blue Dragon, myself) That said, Famitsu gave it a pretty good score, for what it's worth.
