EUROPE! WE HAVE WII POINTS FOR STARS! Finally!

HUZZAH!

https://wiipointscard.nintendo-europe.com

I'll update with more as I work it out.

4 Stars = 1 Wii Point.

You can buy cards worth 100, 300, 500 and 1000 Wii points. Costing 400, 1200, 2000 and 4000 stars respectively.

So my 4611 points nets me 1100 points. Not too shabby.

In total I've got 2100 free wii points now. As I got a 1000 when they were test the system a while back on the old site. An event that will be forever marked by me having an odd number of points left. In this case 211.

Still takes 5 full price purchases to get a free NES game, but still, can't turn down free can you.

HOWEVER. By agreeing to use the site (i.e be the Nintendo VIP thingy) you agree to them monitoring how you play your wii. What games, how long, and so on. Just so you know.

Oh and btw they have some absolutely shit hot stuff available to spend your wii points on. Shame I only have 2400, because if i had 15000 that Epona and Link statue would be mine.

Not just the UK apparantly, I just visited the dutch Nintendo site and we've got the same deal now. Wow they added quite a few new things to the catalogue.. keychains, random nintendo themed things.. The wii point cards page doesn't appear to be working at the moment though. Damn. Oh well, I still have unspent wii points, don't need new ones right away.

The page won't load for me, and the main Nintendo website still says 'We'll be back soon'. I assume I'll just need to wait a bit for stuff to update across the intertubes.

4:1 is what I expected and its pretty poor. Still I wasn't spending those stars on anything else! Oh and now I can enter all the ones for the games I've bought over the last 6 months.

EDIT: I can see it now!

Where are you guys seeing the gold Link statue? I can't afford one anyway, mind, but it'd be nice to have some media for the site.

I've decided to use the VC less for settling my nostalgia (or ruining it - thanks Yoshi's Story) but to buy new games. My first 1000 points will be spent on Landstalker.

I'm tempted by Landstalker. I have horrible memories as a child of sending off a postal order of saved pocket money to some fake company listed in C&VG magazine. Game never showed up and company dissapeared also never managed to find the game in a shop to buy after that.

I'm so conflicted! Here we have it, finally, the ability to swap our stars for Wii Points! But there, standing tall and proud, is a gold Link and Epona statue, that costs twice as many stars as I've accumulated for the last few years. Shall I continue to save my stars and try and get the statue? Will it be sold out long before I can attain it? Should I just bite the bullet and go for the Wii Points, since it's what I wanted anyway? Argh, so confused... damn you, Nintendo!

Points now expire, so your older points will dissapear soon. You can check on the site if it wasn't so monged.

I doubt the statue will still be there by the time you get enough points anyway.

Nope. Initially I couldn't see the updated Nintendo site nor the Wii point swap site. Now I can see the new NoE site but not the point site. The DNS info must still be propagating via chinese whispers across the internet, which means, if my year 8 drama class is anything to go by, the final URL will be mrthompsonisawanker.co.uk

Aw, no gold statue to complement my Ocarina of Time adult Link statue... but oh well, on the other hand, free Wii Points, so it's not all bad.

About 750 of my 3000 stars run out at the end of this month. The thing is, I got a wii points card for my birthday that I only bought 1 snes game with and my fiance got a wii points card for his birthday and he only bought 1 nes game. So we've already got a bunch of points sitting unused on our wii. Argh.

Better to have some more sitting in your Wii unused than to have them disappear at the end of the month.

I can't get on the site at the moment (because its being hammered, presumably) but those of you that have managed to get on, did any of you notice whether they've started giving out Star Points for the VC games you've already bought? I remember on the old site they said you'd be able to do so "soon" for the past year or so.

When you buy a Nintendo game\console, you get a little scratch card with a code on it. Input the code to the Nintendo website and get star points, which can be exchanged for goodies, like Wii points.
