You gotta play at the right time of night, with the right PA guys. It helps if atleast one of the guys is one of us '2 or more' prestige modes guys. Sheep, Kris, King kong, Scorpex, we all seem to talk a lot if we are playing. Not so much if it is TDM, but in Domination games we definatle have a team advantage going on because we talk about what to do and whose taking which points.
Online with pubs ain't so bad on PC until you come across the few guys that are using voice chat. I guess that is the main reason pubs are the worst on 360?
Fair assessment, even two guys working in unison can throw the balance to one side pretty easily.
That actually happened today while I was playing. I had been playing with a bunch of randoms for about an hour and we had been talking via text messages. Two guys on the other team had the same clan tag and popped in and immedately began crushing with 7 kill streaks. More than likely, they were communicating.
Also a guy accused me of using an aimbot when the lead person in the server had 3 times as many kills as me. Idiot. Then my router crapped out during the fight and I couldn't find the server again after I reconnected.

Cheers, man. I was using Stopping Power (which is/was kind of redundant I found with a shotty) , Extreme Conditioning (great for flanking camping bitches) with a grip. 3x stun over the grip seems iffy to me but I will give it a go.
Well, I toss one or two stun grenades into a room and then rush in and blast them while they're stunned. Seems to be pretty effective and gets me bitched at quite a lot after games on Vacant.
Do you guys find a better performance boost from :
a) Steady Aim
b) Grip (Shottys)
As one of the resident shotgun experts around here, yes to both of them. Although, you could really do without the grip as there's no real reason to use it if you have steady aim. I never even bring up the sights on a shotgun. Just shoot from the hip w/steady aim. Instead of the grip, you could put in bandolier and have more ammo.
So last night, I was playing with randoms in hardcore team deathmatch, as I greatly enjoy doing for some reason. The map was Pipeline and I was a sniper on the SAS team. I set myself up on the grassy hills where I generally don't like to stay very long because if someone knows they're looking for someone up there, they're sometimes pretty easy to spot.
So anyway, I was up there all alone and had shot a couple enemies running between the two buildings. Then on my headset, I hear "Oh shit, they've got a guy sniping on the hills!"
Not half a second later, I hear PING! and I drop dead. A different teammate very happily exclaimed "I got him!" He never did seem to realize he got a teamkill.
I guess it's hard to make different looking ghillie suits for the same environments for two different teams, but sometimes it's kind of poopy.

That's what I use too. I throw the grip on there so I can use EC, it's quite effective. Occasionally I'll swap out 3x stun for RPGs and a smoke grenade for Domination but it's too fun to drop a stun in, say, the tight corridors between B and C in Vacant and kill 3/4 of the opposing team at once.
I don't use Double Tap much except with the AK74u, although I did try it out with the M60 the other day. That was pretty fun. Not terribly effective, but hilarious enough to make it worth trying.
edit: a few days ago I fired an RPG from one end of Crossfire to the other and got a kill. I wish I could have watched that killcam, must have been glorious.

A couple days ago, we were playing ground war on Bloc and one of the PA guys had an RPG and fired it inside one of the buildings while at one end. It flew through every door and every room and traversed the entire length of the building unharmed and managed to hit and kill an enemy all the way at the other end.
I don't remember who it was, but it was pretty great.
I can't believe I actually beat the game on veteran. I was starting to think it was a lost cause. Most of it really isn't all that hard even though the AI is always incredibly cheap, but there are a few spots that are just sanity destroyingly frustrating and the worst part was how checkpoints didn't always trigger so when my progress should have been saved, the game somehow decided it would be better not to do that and make me even more frustrated.
Veteran must have been designed with the specific purpose of making people hate CoD4 because that was the complete opposite of fun. There are plenty of games out there that manage to balance their hardest difficulty so that it's difficult but always fair and usually still fun to some degree. CoD4 isn't one of them.
At least this is the first game I ever 1000 pointed and I never have to play its singleplayer again.
So, did anyone who got this via Steam have trouble downloading it? I decided to buy it last night, the download got up to 3% then stopped. I let it run overnight, this morning it's stopped at 37%. I'm just wondering if this is a problem that's arisen before.

In my opinion Grip is better than 3x stun because on my shotgun build I never find time to throw anything. It's all running and shooting, 3x stun is just a wasted space that could be helping your accuracy instead.
I think I finally got a handle on the AK. Definitely not a long range weapon, but it's the next best thing to the G36C. I just needed to make sure to keep it on a target a bit longer. It's not like the M16 where two well placed bursts will put someone down. Only problem with the M16 is that if those bursts are so well placed there's a good chance you're screwed.
I've been playing with the grenade launcher on. "Noob toob" or whatever. It's great against campers and snipers. I find myself getting wasted alot if I tend to spam it. Seems like a balance.
That's one of the things I like about CoD4 so much. There tends to be a good balance.
I don't really have anything meaningful to contribute (big surprise), but I did want to express my love for the following things:
1) G36C: Everytime I unlock you, its like Christmas. You make me happy on the inside, while others hurt on the inside. G36C, will you marry me?
2) Rolling clans with our PA crew makes me giggle. We tend to win like 80% of our matches, including clans... apparently really shitty clans full of extremely shitty players. Huzzah!
3) I still hate douchebags with Last Stand. Although it is lessening.
4) I never talk during the game lobby cause theres always some jackass singing or calling me some terrible hurtful name. So I never talk cause really, we don't need more noise coming through our headset, and I'm busy muting every single fucker without a PA tag.
Martyrdom needs to be automatically disabled when friendly fire is off and your playing a non-Deathmatch style game. It makes both attacking a HQ spot stupid, and defending one even stupider since your not killing any teammates there with you, but killing only enemies. With FF on, its a mute issue, and generally I see the perk go from 50% pick, to a 5% pick.
Ugh. I picked the name Sheeeeeeep because it is memorable. Often times I hear, "Oh, I've played that Sheeeeeeep guy before. He's good/horrible." Sometimes it worked out how I wanted, what with people screaming "SHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!!!" when I merc them.
It's also gotten me singled out. Last night, "Hey, this is Sheeeeeeep. I'm lookin for hot man sex please message me." Couldn't find the guy who did it, since he waited for us to be in the loading screen so I couldn't spot is gamer tag.

PARTY DROPS
From now on, when I am host (which I do often) I will be using a "3 retry policy." As many of you have noticed, whether due to IW or MS, theres some shitty code in there somewhere which often results in Party members being dropped when finding games. I had thought this resolved, but based on my experience this weekend, it hasn't been, and its more annoying than ever.
Whenever I'm the host, I will attempt to get my entire party into the game. Really, I will. I like you guys. I sure as hell like you guys more than the random idiots I find in live. However, it is taking far too much time finding a game when we have to continuely back out because of one person. So from now on, when I'm hosting, I'll possibly back out twice, for a total of 3 found games, in an effort to get the full party into the game. If only one person is missing at the end of that third try, I'm sorry, but I'm letting the game go ahead. After the game is complete, if the party wishes we can back out and reinvite you.
Again, this is only my policy, I'm not sure if the other "main hosts" will act differently but I would imagine they will operate under similar conditions. My apologies, I'm not trying to be a jerk, its just your connection blows.

If you just logged on (or whatever) and would like to get invited to what you believe is the party, just send one of the regulars a "request to play" via live, instead of a message. I rarely listen/read messages when in game, so a request to play is nice and clear. Once the match is complete, we will back out and invite you. If there is no party, the person will join you and you can go on from there.
Please note that I (and most others I believe) DO NOT BACK OUT MIDGAME TO INVITE YOU. Once the match is finished, then we will get you into the party.
If the party is full, and you asked me to be invited, I will respond back telling you the party is full, and let you know who isn't in the party so you can start your own.
Finally, sending me nasty messages demanding to be let into my party, telling me to boot people so you can come in, and general douchebaggery is not the best way to get me into invite you. You're right, I'm not the clan leader, but I sure as hell host enough to ensure you never get into one of my games again if you keep this shit up. You know who you are, cut this shit out.

We're getting busy. Everyday it seems more and more people are using the PA CoD4 list and sending out invites, which is awesome. However, because of this we're also capping out at 9 people per team, extremely quickly. As such we really will have to start doing multiple teams. As I said above, if I am full I will let you know and tell you who ISNT in my group so you can party with them.
Also, I don't "save" spots under normal circumstances.

1. "I got King Kong king king king kong in my trunk". Ever since that stupid ass fuckwit song came out I hear this in almost EVERY lobby in every game I play online.
2. "King Kong ain't got shit one me" from Training Day, the best is when the try and use Denzels voice. If I don't get a King Kong song I get this.
3. If it's not one of those I get jokes in refernce to any female I know (my girl/mom/sister) and how they refer to the cock they have as King Kong.
And finally I have an easy name to remember so I get any other random fuck saying stupid shit, like the shit Sheeeeeep gets.
