Ok this time around I've been doing a lot more UNCs that I missed the first time around, and most are good fun. And this time I have actually played long enough to get the Rich achievement (my first time through I never sold or bought anything, just turned stuff into omni-gel).
MSV Cornucopia:
JESUS FUCKING CHRIST those Husks that came out of nowhere and started exploding on me literally made me pee in my pants a little. I had my guard down because, after taking a long break, I couldn't remember if I had searched this ship or not, and there was no sign that this truly was new ground.
Cerberus:
I've heard a lot about this mini-quest so I decided to check things out this time around. I was approached by an agent of the Shadow Broker to obtain the info from a Cerberus computer and I willingly gave it up. Then I destroyed a compound (ExoGeni, I think) that had ties with Cerberus, and I've heard nothing new since. Am I doing it wrong?
Got a quick question- how exactly does the first aid skill work? Pressing Y activates the healing- is that the same as the first aid ability? If every member of my party has it, does it stack? Does it use the highest level?

This is a fine question, I was curious as to how it works aswell, someone answer this!
The "hold the line" speach was amazing, are there any codex entries that talk about salarian heroes like the silent shot etc? The only thing that I need help with right now is the bonus talent on my new character. I'm starting an Infilitrator on hard core mode and I was wondering if I should choose:
-shotguns (Shotgun? Shotgun! Shotgun.)
-lift (mediocre)
-throw (this was pretty cool)
-warp (this wasn't very useful on my vanguard play through)
-barrier(i'm maxing out fitness and commando spec so this will probably be useless)
Also do you guys have any tips for Infiltrators in general?
EDIT: Also I have the krogan ally achievement and warrior achievement, who would be best for my next play through? I figure Liara and Kaiden but I am not sure
Go for Singularity. You can throw it down in a corridor and it will pull people out from cover for to you shoot with your sniper rifle.

I'm pretty sure it tallies up the sum total first aid points among all your party members. Taken from Gamespot's FAQ:
Note that if multiple members of your party have First Aid points, the skill itself uses the sum of all party member's skill. So if two members have four and six skill points in First Aid, the power will assume that you have 10 points total and give you back an appropriate amount of health.
Just finished the game. It felt a bit short because it only took me 8-9 hours... Then again I was really fed up with the Mako at that point.
8-9 hours? I'm at 7 and I just done one story mission outside the Citandel. My journal is packed with side quest that I plan on doing. Did you just skip everything?
Just finished the game. It felt a bit short because it only took me 8-9 hours...
Wow... uh, how is this possible? You kinda brought it upon yourself if you didn't enjoy it because of that. Did you not do any sidequests at all?
I think I completed maybe one sidequest and it was a boring "get item x and bring it to person y without any real reward" mission. Didn't bother with those after that.
I had zero problem with the whole Wrex situation. I find the Krogans to be the opposite of the Salarians, which makes them the opposite of awesome.
[Signal Ashley]
I couldn't disagree with you more, like, ever. Wrex fucking rocks, he became my favorite character over Tali and Kaiden after he tells you the story about him and the Asari bounty hunter. Also, Ashley is a stupid bitch.
For me, the choice you make later on in Virmire was no problem.
You can, with the x button. But since it also can be used to select choices, you end up accidentally hitting the wrong ones quite a lot if you do much skipping.
I'm going to say I really like this game, but I'm going to register one major fucking problem I have with it.
Polarization.
The game encourages you to pick between being a saint and a complete prick, by rewarding your proceeding further and further down a tree with intimidate/charm points. This combined with the fact that you can use either intimidate or charm in any situation in which you can use either one of them, (Something more than a little ridiculous in my opinion), theres no real reason to be good at both, and it feels like you end up wasting your points and thus gimping your character.
So if you want to be efficient, you basically have to play a very one dimentional character which is a major fucking bummer. As a result I feel like I've wasted a lot of points by trying to make a real character, and think I'm probably going to have to re-roll. : /
I don't understand, Charm/Intimidate is often what makes your decisions polarized. If you don't skill those up, you usually have three normal options (bad, good, in-between). Very few quests and conversations actually make a difference if you choose Charm/Intimidate, it's mainly a way to make your character more paragon or renegade.
I like the main quest, but all of the sidequests felt terribly done. I felt like I was playing City of Heroes or something. Go to big, generic open planet X, go into one of 4 maps or so, and kill generic random enemyset. It really felt like they just tacked on the sidequests. I like the game a lot so I started going through the sidequests, but they all feel super generic and boring. It's like doing the same uninteresting quest over and over. So I don't blame you for finishing the game quickly.
There are a few places where charm/intimidate will get you things you wouldn't otherwise get.
Example (extremely minor and very early game spoiler I guess):
Just before you find Nihlus' body there are 3 farmers. You can charm/intimidate Cole to get grenades in addition to the pistol you would otherwise regularly receive. You can then charm/intimidate further to learn who his contact is. Then you can charm/intimidate said contact to get a grenade upgrade. Regular choices only get you the pistol and a much shorter dialog.
But yes, beyond instances such as the above it is a rare situation indeed wherein charm/intimidate actually matters (e.g. yielding significantly more credits, some fancy items, or majorly altering a plot line).
I know Wrex hate isn't going to be popular, and I did find Wrex's story to be compelling, but just because a species got screwed over doesn't make them likable.
For me the sidequests were just my way of grinding for experience and credits. When I compare it to the grinding I have to do in other RPGs, whether random encounters or whatever, it seemed really nice. I'd rather be rewarded with a nice little backstory as opposed to nothing, if I were just killing enemies outside of a town, or something like that.
The fact that the "dungeons" never really changed format kind of ircked me though. At least alter the pathways, or do a random generator type thing.
Just a minor complaint though. I really love the game.

I didn't find Krogans on a whole likable as much as I found Wrex himself likable.
Maybe I just projected on his character, but he seemed like he was a good deal smarter than the rest of the Krogans. In the past he was the one Krogan leader who knew that they couldn't keep fighting each other anymore and had to focus on breeding if they didn't want to go extinct. Then his father back stabs him and he started acting like the rest of the Krogan by turning his back on them. However, you realize that he's not just a stupid merc when he agrees to join you in defeating Saren, especially how he acts when you charm him on Virmire.
Also, the story about having to go after his friend. "You figure if someone can survive that they deserve to live."

First aid is added together from all party members, in addition to a base of 40 healing. So, if you have +60 on Shepard and +100 on Kaidan, you heal for 40 + 60 + 100 = 200 health to all party members.
Medicine is combined multiplicatively, as decimal values. I believe the initial cooldown is 60 seconds, so if you have -10% on Shepard and Kaidan, the final time would be 60 * 0.9 *0.9 = 48.6 seconds.
I was deciding between this and Assassin's Creed. After listening to a friend rave about it last night, I will be picking this up later tonight. I am eager.
Edit: I did have a question actually...my buddy warned me against creating my own Shepard and claims it's impossible to get it to turn out right. I thought this was one of the strong points of the game. Any truth to any of this? Tips? I can't decide if my first will be a female or male shepard...

I'm not sure what "turn out right" means; but I'm really happy with my female Shepard I made for my first playthrough. You can view your created character from multiple directions while making him/her and the facial options/adjustments are plentiful. You may not be able to make an exact replica of yourself, but it's definitely easy to make a cool character.
I'm addicted to the sidequests btw, SO much better than standard level grinding...and the fact most sidequests contribute to your understanding of Mass Effect's universe is great. This is the first RPG I've completely enjoyed in ages.

I can see why you'd like him, and I'd totally agree that he was the cream of the crop when it came to the Krogans. Still doesn't mean I'm gonna like him hehe.
I just thought, if Wrex achieved his goal of curing the Genophage, which I'm sure left alive he would have eventually, what does that mean for the Krogans? It means a war of vengeance and conquest. To quote Shatner, I can't get behind that.

Lies. Plenty of people have said here that the facial construction isn't well-done, or that they all turn out as Asians. These people are stupid. I have made three personalized Shepherds so far, and they all turned out great. The first was a vaguely East European/Russian chap with my chin, the second was a Indian woman with light freckles, and my current one is a bald badass with a pock-marked face. Don't let anyone turn you off of making one of your own.
(Names so far have been Isaac, Sari, and Michael. That also lends quite a bit of personalization.)

Making a good-looking Shepard is entirely easy and painless.
I did the monkey mission and then found that Prothean relic.
I didn't get the medallion this time around from the Consort, what does the relic say? Also, in another world I found a transmitter that had been making satellites crash. I deactivated it but nothing seems to have happened, did I miss something?
The relic just goes on about how the Protheans had been spying on humanity for thousands of years. It's interesting in a filling in some back story kind of way

I wonder if that will be addressed in ME2.
Doubt it. It was a bit throw away really.
Although
Anyone else kind of glad that the Protheans were dead seeing as they all looked like Cthulu
