Me?
Hardware:
-No over-heating or RROD-esque problems (obv.)
-Wi-fi built in
-Bigger HDD and the ability to accept non Msoft HDs
-HD-Drive built in
-Controller built in memory to store a few saves, screenshots and settings
Software:
-Universal screenshot feature
-Xbox live subscription still paid, though far more features to make up for it. Actual dedicated servers and only expanison packs are paid for, everything else is paid with your gamerscore, though nothing is deducted off your gamerscore on your gamertag. For example, if you buy the Viva Pinata theme which is 150 points and your gamerscore is 1000, you have 850 points left to spend in marketplace though the score on your gamer tag is still 1000.
-More HD content on Xbox Live marketplace.
-Another blade which is a social network were people can blog about games, share opinions on games, rate games out of 10 and show screenshots and comment on them.
-Downloadable xbox 360 games
-Awarded actual physical badges for obtaining a certain amount of achievements or a certain achievment
-Internet browser
-Built in email client
-Achievments in demos and achievments for the xbox 360 / profile. For example, achievements for listening to a whole album in one go or having over 50 played games
-Album art display in gamer tag

Why not demand this now?
I've got a Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence disc that disagrees with you. If it had peer-to-peer, I could start up a Game On thread and play it right now.
But really... I'd rather not think about that now.
Next-gen optical disk for more storage

Controller memory would be cool to store your gamertag and preferences for games (maybe even some arcade games)
Some sort of motion detection in the controller. Allow for things like racing games with tilt-control without a steering wheel. (traditional control and wheels still available however)
Live:
I agree with OP. Stuff like theme packs and things like that should be able to be paid for with gamerscore or some other achievable/earnable point system. Charge money for real stuff like games and DLC.
Change your gametag Live subscription to a console account. So your console is subscribed to live and any gamertags loaded onto that console have access to Live for families and no matter who is playing gets to use the DLC or arcade games.
A "rate this game" system would be pretty cool, but it would have to have been played with your gamertag account and it would take your score and balance it out according to how many hours you've put into it. (1 out of 5 score? well, you only played it for 10 minutes, so we aren't going to make your rating worth as much as the 5 out of 5 score someone gave it who played it for 3 days straight.) Have a list of what games are rated top as well.
And are we seriously talking about this already?
Oh hell no.
Just the whole "olol this dude is a newbie look at his gamerscore i am so much leeter than him" attitude that some people have is bad enough.
The last thing I need is to be in Best Buy getting harassed by a bunch of middle school students wearing patches they bought off ebay saying "Yo man, where your 10k badge? Where your 10k badge?"

Free XBox Live.
Controllers that I actually find to be comfortable.
Already running.
Seriously, physical badges for getting achievements? How about I just mail you a "KICK ME" sign instead?
The purpose of consoles is standardization. I don't want developers to have to worry about making their game compatible with the various types of HDDs some one might have; I want that time spent on making the game itself.
Why? Just save the stuff on your HDD. Flash memory in the controller is just going to make it more expensive.
We don't need an internet proxy on the system. You can already do all of this on the internet, it is really just a waste of resources to add it in to the system.
Again, this is just stupid beyond words. If you feel the need to prove yourself in this way, I feel sorry for you.
Again, you can do this on your PC. Messaging other folks on the 360 is great, because it serves a real purpose, but there is no reason why you need to waste system resources by running Outlook.
Why? I'd think it's more sad that anything if I saw some one had gone and gotten the "dashboard achievements." I mean, do you really have NOTHING better to do?
Adding a feature to the console doesn't force you to use it.
No, but tying up resources that could have gone into improving the console or the games DOES affect me.
Make your own damn console then. Those resources are Microsofts once you choose to fork over the cash for the console.
Huh?
Microsoft didn't say they were going to do this. Some one said they would like it, so I said why I wouldn't.
I don't see the reasons why my opinions are less valid than anyone else's.
Because your points were "I do not want this feature that would in no way affect me if it was there and I just didn't use it"
Basically saying microsoft should not strive for market perceived value, but Evander perceived value
The title of this thread is "What would you like to see in the Xbox 3 / 720?"
Not "What would the market like to see in the Xbox 3 / 720?"
but, whatever it's not a big deal..
But has the OP considered buying a PS3? Because half the features are actually on the PS3 already.
Satans..... hints.....
aside from the achievement stuff, it is almost all things that are currently available on the PS3, Wii, or PC.
Automatic online backups for save games. This would probably have to be a premium feature.
Virtual scratch repair. This would have quite a few legal and technological hurdles. Basically they would have copies of all games online, and it would allow you to download chunks of data automatically to replace data lost when discs are scratched. Basically when you would usually get a disc read error, it would download it online and save it to a hard drive. Whenever the game requests the bad sectors in the future you will get the data from the hard drive. A scratch would no longer ruin your game. It would only cause the game to pause once for a couple minutes.

As cool as that would be, its not quite that simple. Support really has to come from the developer side for that to work.
However, I dont think this is the image that they want to go for, so I wouldnt expect it to happen.
you will probably see it in November 2009.
HOHOHOHOHOHOHO.
The xbox 360 was officially announced (occording to wiki) in February 2003 and it was launched in 2005.
It was rumoured long before then.
You sir are making things up.
Satans..... hints.....
i meant released since they seem to be going by a 4 year release schedule.
I will go back to my chortling. It simply will not happen.
