Direct Repair/Healing tools repair/heal you if you're not targeting a friendly and can typically repair you from 0 armor to 100% in only 2-3 ticks.

Radial Repair/Healing tools repair/heal you and anyone in range at a rate about 1/3rd of a direct disk, but work on everyone including yourself at the same time.

Conical Repair/Healing tools just suck, don't bother. Targeting is wonky.

If you're alone, you just need a direct repair tool and should not need to use a healing disk like..ever.
If you're in a group, best to just go with a radial repair tool and maybe a direct healing disk for ressing.

Perhaps my memory is off but I thought the tooltip explained how the disks works.

I don't know, maybe it does.
It didn't get the point across to me, though, because I figured out the Healing one easily enough. I have a Direct Repair tool but it never seemed o do anything when I equipped it. Maybe I just didn't notice what it was doing.
Well, this will make things MUCH easier.

It doesn't do anything if you have full armor and aren't targeting a friendly, though it'll consume ammo. Biggest issue I tend to have with the direct repair tool is throwing down a reality ripper and needing to repair only to be targeting the ripper still and having to basically do a 180 away and run a bit before it works.

While I am all for a Fiesta colour scheme, it looks like shit on graviton armor. The graviton armor has a reddish orange underlay that looks terrible in it's own right but the pink and green makes it much, much worse. I spent about 45 minutes earlier today pissing around with different pinks and greens, and for they all looked bad. After all the trial and error I have settled on a pruple, orange and green scheme that I hope is Fiesta-ish enough. I was going to post a screenshot of my gaurdian decked out in his fiesta-lite armor but, for some reason my screenshots are darker than the inside of a cow at midnight. Anyone know how I can fix this? I tried cranking up the gamma but the screenshots seem to be unaffected by the gamma slider.

On a completely other note I have been getting pummeled by stalkers on the Plains, every time I try and walk anywhere they come out of the ground and proceed to start me on fire. I've been trying to keep them at a 50+ metre/yard range but I can barely dent the ones that are 1-2 levels higher. Any suggestions on killing them without turning into a flaming corpse?

Since you're using Graviton I presume you're talking about a Commando. EMP Bombs + EMP Chaingun for damage, use Chaingun from point blank behind them (ducking out of LOS if they drop the uber bomb).

Stalkers, Preds, Juggernaughts take several times more damage from behind than front.

I can take equal level Stalker/Pred/Juggs/Striders in the front with my good EMP Chain Gun on my commando in Incline. Make sure you have Rage 3 though, helps alot. Start the fight with a shot from your EMP Launcher, then close to 30m or less with your chain gun. If it isn't enough get behind them with an emp bomb, then chain gun again. Make sure to change weapons fast, or if you have Launcher 5 like my guy on Pegasus, try to rip off as many rounds before you over heat then switch to chain gun.

Is that the collectors edition bright green? Because if not, you need the collectors edition bright green which is blinding green. Not sure if there's a collectors edition purple - blue, green, red and yellow I think. Some one with the collectors edition version of the game can manufacture the bright green and hand out bottles of it.

I have the collector's edition (it was so cheap at amazon, why not?) and did not realize that there were CE paints! I fail at life! So either, yes, those are the CE paints, and I just didn't know it, or I'm gonna have to go digging through my inventory!

To be honest, one thing I miss about my Sapper was the survivability. More armor as a commando, more stamina as a sapper.

VIVA FIESTA! FIESTA! looks like shit on graviton armor, true, but I kinda like it. How bulky it is gives plenty of surface area to enjoy the colors. I personally use the top right of the palettes for maximum brightness.

Oh, I made a clone. Any chance of him getting invited in to? Gah, since we can only be in one clan no matter how many clones I really wish that the damn thing would automatically be in the clan. And that friends list would transfer. All that happy hoo ra.

They have funny names, I think - like Lightbender Yellow and stuff. Kind of like Gamesworkshop paints have silly names like Orc Green. The blueprints for them never run out either, most paint blueprints are one run only but the CE blueprints allow infinite runs. And I can't remember but they may or may not require pigments to manufacture either.

The CE paints don't require any items to make. You just put the paint blueprint in the crafting station and bam, you have 1 paint.

A question about clones... do all your characters have to have unique names? I'll probably have to respec at some point once I get to the final tier, but I would really like to keep the same name. Since the only way I see to respec is to clone (grrr), that leaves me in somewhat of a predicament unless the big patch takes a while to come through ;)

I am running so short on first names to pair with Tag!

Yeah, that's what I thought, free to make, limitless runs. The trade off is having to grind out the tins one by one because normal blueprints make 10 tins in one run. So if you decide to use the CE paints for your clan's colour scheme be prepared to spend all day in front of one of those machines churning out paints for everybody.

I'm not noticing anyone on terribly much, are you intentionall trying to make my cry? Are you?! ARE YOU?!

What I really love about the game is the surprisingly close community in General Chat. I hope they never regionalize it. If they did, I might cry.

Anyways, how many of you have made the move to Orion? And what are your play times?

I've been playing Deus Ex: Invisible War. Yeah, you heard me. Take that taste and decency. In it's defense, it is hilarious. It's like a spoof of Deus Ex all with it's bad level designs and cynically irrelevant player-choices.

But I'll be back, oh yes I shall. Unless there's a fancy Collectors Edition of POTBS released, then I can't vouch for my actions.

I hear Plateau is better. I feel like I'm already under-leveled for Mires though - I need to go back and do some of the Plains and Incline instances that you and Tremor did without me. :(
I went from Plains to Incline, probably too soon, but was able to finish a few quests in Incline and when I returned to Plains, was able to deal out a lot better damage.

TR has a way of making you feel really dumb for not looking for the 'easy' way to take something down. I think it's a symptom of most games (particularly MMOs) only allowing one way to do things, while TR will often offer more than one route to what you want to do.

This is pretty noteworthy once you realize that NPC aggro actually requires them to have an awareness of you, such as an alarm or seeing you. Anytime you see a Security Camera, destroy it from far away to prevent it from alerting troops (who usually teleport in via nearby teleporters). If you want to get by Bane quickly.. just wait for them to walk away and you can just breeze past them from behind so long as you're not *too* close. In other words.. the game allows stealth without spelling it out as an explicit ability only a few classes can do.
*chuckles* Everytime I see a forcefield gate, I think to myself: "Where is a Specialist when you need one?"

I was thinking the same thing about those security cameras and spotlights.

And yes, this game, despite what you think, is about numbers. Crouching when firing, your position/cover, what side of an enemy you are facing.

Is the rest of the game as cool as the character creation, that was cool and the character I made was badass

I might buy the game even though I was unable to get the game working during my trial (because the downloader kept giving me errors on game1.zip and version.ini or something.)
The change in outfits over time adds to the coolness.

Also, getting "Rage" turned on, and seeing those glowing red eyes, is pretty sweet.

There were some problems with the friends/ingnore lists on Orion tonight so maybe their servers are just having a hicup. I'm not sure if they use the same servers for web stuff, the only game that I know for sure shared there websites and game server was EVE online.

Does anyone have any numbers on subscriptions for TR because the player base seems to be fading away? I hope it isn't but some numbers would help reassure me.

I need to find screenshots of these vehicles. I am curious if they are solo occupancy, or if extra players/NPCs can fill up slots and add their weapon fire.

    Noticed this while logging in...
    Patch Update
On Thursday we made a new build for version 1.4 (1.4.2) for the Public Test Server. Currently, it’s going through final testing before it hits the PTS. Many of the concerns we had for 1.4 have been corrected in this new version and our goal for 1.4.2 is to have it out sometime next week. When 1.4 goes to PTS, the Orion player database will be copied to the Test Server. Stay tuned to the website for updates!

    Patch Note Preview
Added new Operation: Sanctus Grotto (Level 50) Will open 1/25/08.

This Forean spiritual retreat is rumored to contain a hidden subterranean temple containing an ancient and valuable Eloh relic. Join in a desperate race to locate the temple, solve the riddle that will open its seal, and retrieve the relic for the AFS. But hurry, the Bane have also heard about the relic, and they’re racing to get there first!

    Chinese New Year
Players will get special treats on February 7th for Chinese New Year. Black Cat, Blue, Orange, Red, and Yellow fireworks will be in your backpack when you log in. Remember – Safety First: Do not light these fireworks with your fire propellant gun!

    3 month Veteran Reward
Several players have been wondering what we have in store for our 3 month veterans. Well, if you are familiar with some of the earlier concepts of Tabula Rasa, you may just recognize our first reward, an old school Tabula Rasa “Kirin” mask. Players will also be able to show their dance skills with a /robot emote.

Yeah its so nice that they moved away from the "all quests and travel nodes need to be accessible to people all the time" mentality of some of the other capture and hold games. Nothing gets people motivated to attack and defend like needing the outpost for actual services.
